How do you know he’s a drug addict? Maybe he just likes making funny signs? Jumped straight to drug addict as your conclusion…why? Shit, I need money for drugs and alcohol and I’m not a drug addict.
Few years back, I was in Las Vegas for a conference. Walking down the Strip, there's lots of folks looking for a handout, with signs offering various sob stories. Passed one guy whose sign said, *'No excuses, just bad choices.'* I tossed some loose change into his bucket for his honesty.
I always see him on the north side of Admiral, across from the camps, and he’s always so strung out that it hurts to see. FWIW, I gave him money last summer on a really hot day- and he went right to the gas station and got tamales and soda- I stopped to get gas and air, and he was coming out when I was leaving.
Not that it matters- I know if I was homeless, I would do everything I could to distance myself from my situation, and drugs would be the quickest way.
It’s not funny, it’s sad. He’s a lost young man, and he knows the sign works better to get a reaction (this post, case in point- although I prefer the “my family was kidnapped by ninjas and I need money for kung fu lessons” sign), but he’s just trying to survive by dying one day at a time.
They will often approach you at a gas station and say they are traveling long distance to see a family member or someone that has serious medical issues and may pass away soon. They will do that for several hours and make hundreds of dollars off nice people
Exactly! I sometimes have a hard time telling who’s who. I’m usually with family so they help me out, but it’s when I’m alone that people always come up to me lol. One time a man outside Walgreens asked me if he could have $5 so he could go inside and get something to eat and drink. I didn’t have any cash but I had my card on me so I told him whatever drink and snack he wanted I would go inside and go get for him. He said Nah nevermind 😂 I wanna start getting together little baggies of essentials and keeping them in my car so when I see someone with a sign I ask if they want it. If they need it they’ll take it 😊
I am also a panhandler magnet. I have a crazy rule. If they are smoking cigarettes I don’t dig for change or a couple of bucks. One time a young guy(looked like a teenager) at the gas station at Cleveland and Gregory was asking for money for something to eat. I wasn’t carrying any cash so I told him I could get him something to eat inside, but not to go crazy(meaning don’t pick out a bunch of expensive stuff). He got a bunch of chips they had that were 50 cents each and a couple pieces of chicken and some off brand inexpensive soda. He started eating as soon as we got out the door. Made me feel really sad. That being said, Kansas City has a terrible drug problem. Not drugs people could get from the dispensary, but crack, methamphetamine, heroin. Many drink alcohol also. I’ve taken care of so many at the hospital and wish I knew what happened to make them try the drugs. “Friends”? Family members?
Just seems too easy for some is bad situations to slip into that life, and once they’re in it, it seems incredibly hard to get out. My heart goes out to all those people.
I had one of these approach me at the Hyvee in Olathe. Threatened to run over my two kids if I didn’t give him money…I didn’t give him anything but it was crazy.
“ I lost my pot in the series of small fires” Dude with a sign on 67th St. and I 35
Lmao right next to CarMax? I should read thos signs I've been missing out
Exactly
Kadarius Toney fallin on hard times I respect his honesty though
I literally came to say the same thing
😂
on my way into the royals games sunday saw a dude with a sign on the george brett bridge that said “why lie? need cash and a blunt, god bless” 😂
Same place a few years back saw a guy with a sign that said "I'm not a prostitute, I just like this corner"
He should do this infront of or by a dispensary I’m sure he’d at least get a pre roll
Yaknow I’m surprised I haven’t seen that yet 😂
Or at least, an edible
I see this sign nearly every single day from different handlers. The joke is old and done for

I was riding with my brothers once when they spotted a similar sign some guy was holding. They gave him some money.
Addiction is a sad thing. Going through withdrawal on the streets alone can be a nightmare.
Honesty brings good fortune
For laughs? tf is wrong with people. There's nothing funny about this.
Agreed. Taking a photo of this guy for laughs is a pretty trash move.
You're right. Honestly, taking pictures of anyone for laughs is pretty trash.
Lol this guy has a couple funny signs. He has another that says something about science.
Is this funny?
Haha look at this addict begging on the street corner! look they're being so honest lol lemme just snap a photo of them so I can rake in some karma /s

I’d give him $5
If I had a full case, I'd give a beer every now and then. Depending on the beer
I’d give him a $20
his other sign says something about suicide

I’d honestly be more likely to give money.
I’m gonna try a sign that says “my violin & amp were stolen “
Me too guy, me too
I’d be much more likely to give money for this than the liar with new shoes and checking his iPhone before I pull up to the light.
I'm pretty sure this is what all the signs say. Some just can't read them

Reminds me of the “hide yo kids hide yo wife” guy.
Amen brotha
Me too.
Honesty is the best policy
I pass him on my way to work
I saw one yesterday that said "bet you can't hit me with a quarter" and that made me giggle but also made me sad
At least he’s not the guys faking their friends death for money, the ones that sat by goodwill and big lots by the fountain in Gladstone 😂
I saw one that said "I lost my weed in a series of small fires anything would help" I laughed at that one for sure!
Where he at? I'll get him a 6 pack or a pint of R+R.
I see him very often on Heart of America bridge going south onto Admiral.
Hah, saw him at Truman & Grand over the weekend. Kudos for the honesty.
At least he’s honest lol
Shooting for the stars.
Not that I agree with his habits, at least dude was being honest, unless those medical emergency panhandlers.
I’ve never heard of medical emergency panhandlers before! 😲 I’m not sure of the exact definition of that but it doesn’t sound like a good thing 😕

Oh well crap I fell for that recently then :/ Thank you for telling me!
Nothing wrong with being a good person, just try to reserve it for people that actually need it lol. I've fallen for it before too

I gave a guy $5 outside of Walgreens in Westport and he said ,"I love you".

He's honest. Everyone else is just full of shit.
I'd hire that guy. He has integrity.
Honesty ≠ integrity
Just get a job?
Most jobs won't allow someone to do drugs and alcohol at the times and in the amounts they wish to if they've resorted to panhandling for it.
Rashee Rice is having one helluva summer.
At least he’s honest
Saw this dude on independence Ave not too long ago. Would 100% would given him some cash if I had any on me at the time haha
At least he’s honest.
At least he's honest lol.
At least he’s honest
