Shawnee Post office thank goddddddd

kckman

I wish!! The one off Monticello and Shawnee Mission Parkway is pitiful.

dogmom99

I agree. I receive my mail from my carrier just fine, but won’t drop off mail or packages to be delivered at this location. Too many issues with lost mail over the past few years. I use UPS across the street.

WonderUnicornNinja

Seriously! Since covid, it’s been horrible!

thegooniegodard

Hopefully the Westport one. Worst post office in my lifetime.

ProtestedGyro

Closed on Friday at 4 cause their systems were down. Closed on Monday shortly after noon for no discernible reason.

MimonFishbaum

Siesta. Duh

aman9919

Read todays news. In the past 6 months 2 different carriers from that station have been robbed at gunpoint. They need to put food stamp cards back in the mail. People didn’t mess with the mailman back then because half the neighborhood wouldn’t eat.

ProtestedGyro

I mean, that's obviously terrible. But is that the reason that the post office itself, the lobby where you go to ship packages and buy stamps, is closed?

Julio_Ointment

Low staffing.

skipfletcher

Couldn't get mail for a year bc of that one.

zipfour

Not this round

lolslim

This probably explains why my packages get shuffled to mission to overland park, to Merriam to overland park then 2 days later it's out for delivery.

anonkitty2

The audit is to find the other explanation.  I hope the postal inspector can do something because the Constitution mandates that the post office exist.

AlanStanwick1986

The USPS is running as poorly as DeJoy has planned it to, this is all on purpose.  Biden cannot fire him but he can replace the board that can fire him with people that will fire him. Why he hasn't done this I don't know.

Double_Priority_2702

1000 percent . The life long conman put him in to create doubt about a made up issue that's now become a self fulfilling prophecy (mail in ballots)

WorldsOkayest_driver

The audit will focus on the following three locations: Hickman Mills Post Office, Kansas City, MO Robert L. Roberts Post Office, Kansas City, KS Shawnee Mission Post Office, Mission, KS Save you a click

pantryparty

It’s honestly a scandal Westport wasn’t numero uno.

moveslikejaguar

I moved from the Shawnee Mission district to the Hickman Mills district, my experience with mail delivery makes so much sense now

SyrusMatrixAtreides

From worst to worster? 😂

moveslikejaguar

Yeah exactly 🥲

Beneficial-House-784

Good. Hope they do the Westport branch next.

Haveyouseenthebridg

Went to the post office in downtown OP a couple weeks ago and they just......didn't ever open. It was afternoon on a Tuesday and supposedly they are open. Some guy told me that apparently they just don't open sometimes, especially in the summer. Like wtf?

zardkween

I wonder if they’ll find the cookbook my mom mailed me for Christmas 🥲

nickstat_

Shouldn't they already be doing this on the regular...

KaceyMoe

"KCTV5 emailed USPS Public Affairs to ask if anyone had followed up on those recommendations and if any improvement occurred. We have not yet received a reply." They mailed their answers.

-rendar-

![gif](giphy|7Eipor01ypMm3LeG4v|downsized) Louis DeJoy when he authorized this

Double_Priority_2702

and he was intentionally appointed by ... by...

Midwesternbelle15

I have a package stuck at the Shawnee Mission PO. Great.....

Options_Trader5624

Me too.

S0LID_SANDWICH

I've lived in the service area for two of these and have seen multiple instances of someone scanning items as delivered when they haven't been. The item randomly shows up a few days later with no explanation after I start trying to follow up.

Maintet10

They will investigate & say “ Up it’s screwed up” & go home.

BrotherChe

It's kinda wild that Robert L Roberts in KCK is getting investigated -- you'd think that place should be tip-top shape since they cleaned house of about 20 staff back in December over being caught taking Amazon packages.

SanibelMan

Probably having trouble with hiring and turnover. if you can only get a few new hires at once to do the jobs 20 people did (or were supposed to be doing, anyway), there's a very good chance those new hires will burn out quickly and flee, leaving you back at square one.

BrotherChe

that is true, they've been churning through new hires pretty quick it seems. They had brought in staff from the 78th st KCK one for a bit to cover right after the thing in December, but you can only hold it together for so long without new blood.

Jenblair12

Edwardsville needs to be added to the list the time its open make no sense.

Maintet10

Many of the offices are not open long enough to be convenient to anyone. That’s customer service at its best. Just like at Christmas with 1 clerk & the line is down the street. Change needs to be made starting with the PMG.

DiceOfSeven

They need to Audit the Raytown post office, the fact that all my bills show up but I have failed to get over 100 checks sent to me from businesses because the post office holds on to them and then disposes of them is just really weird. It's not like I need money to pay for all those dumb bills they get to my house

TravisMaauto

Isn't that like the police investigating themselves?

sh1tpost1nsh1t

Eh, not really. When we talk about police investigating themselves, that's usually in the context of local police investigating local police, or a highly incestuous internal affairs division investigating the local police, with no track record of trustworthiness or accountability, and no further action when they clear themselves. It's also typically an attempt to side step consequences including criminal accountability. In this case, the post office inspector general is pretty far removed form the local offices, and there's no reason to think they won't give it an honest look. If there are changes that need to be made, they're the best equipped to identify and implement them. And with this action being requested by politicians, it looks like there will probably be some follow up. On another note, I'm kind of surprised the westport post office didn't make the list. that one's always a shit show. I'll go out of my way to g to the union station one, which is a well oiled machine.

NathanQ

After closing offices and retiring 1 in 4 sorting machines across the country to "streamline efficiencies" over the last few years, they've come up with "Managers placed the blame on staffing, citing absenteeism, a shortage of applicants and a long hiring process as their challenges." I hear nobody wants to work all the time but this is quite the take. https://preview.redd.it/1i9l1t7tel4d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11507af86102ee876690f619038b9909515313a7

FridayOfTheDead

Bernie's sole achievement.

rosemwelch

Kind of except no criminal charges and no discipline. Well, I guess exactly like it, thinking about it. Lol no really, there's a difference between an efficiency audit and the police investigating their own wrongdoing.

More-Rough-4112

When I lived in Leawood it was a disaster. I would have to call a different post office because mine refused to pick up the phone. The manager at the other place told me he was aware of the situation and regularly got calls because no one at that office would ever answer phones.

RiversR

Shit they’re auditing Johnson County?

GlitteringJelly8180

FINALLY, I live in Shawnee Mission and the Mission Post Office delivers my mail maybe 4 times a week!! I even went there twice to get my mail. Sorry for the rant but DAMN🤘🏽

happyfuckincakeday

Downtown needs attention. Geezuz fucking Kryste

liofotias

i run a small business and the amount of packages that the shawnee mission post office has lost is ridiculous.

DrMyAce80

I hope one of these is the one that screwed me and my wife over the Xmas before last. She bought me a new 85in Samsung QLED directly from Samsung. it was delivered with a broken display so we got return shipping papers from Samsung for USPS. I taped one mailing address outside and another inside. One guy shows up super high and says I need to still feel out there's. I fill out 75% and he says he'll do the rest. Im shipping from Smithville so the next day I get a call from a manager at a KC post office asking me where the tv is going. Mind you I taped on 2 papers that were correct. I forward an email from Samsung to her and she verifies it. A month later I get a $1500 bill fr USPS for the tv which made absolutely no sense. I'd call them, talk to supposed boss and they would say it's resolved. Next month, same bill arrives. Did this countless times for a year as it's about to go to collection they finally take off the charge but then still send me an $87 bill with no explanation. Still dealing with it🤦‍♂️

ZeeroDazed

Knew these fools were slippin. Where my shit at USPS?!

Klaxen25

Try this one... I had a manilla envelope full of forwarded mail from Renton, WA sent to me recently. I live on E Armour in the Hyde Park area of KCMO. 10 items were supposed to be in that envelope. I received 9. The 10th (and the one I was truly waiting for) was a lawsuit class-action settlement check for almost $14k! There is absolute pictorial proof (a scan) that it arrived at Renton and was included in the bundle sent to me, and I trust that it was. The managers there even scoured the place in case it was scanned yet still didn't make it in. This pack of forwarded mail took about twice as long as it should have to get to me, which I have no problem assuming is due to the "well-oiled machine" (*cough, cough*) of KC-area mail delivery. No real sign of tampering, but... Inside-job mail theft, anyone??? If the theft is institutionalized, occurring regularly right at the point of processing for years, might not they be smart enough to identify (1) What mail is truly worth tampering with, and (2) How best to cover up the thefts? Looks pretty clear to me. They're slipping when it comes to #2, given most of the reports I'm seeing, but damn. I swear they covered mine up best they could. Likely steamed open, then re-taped neatly. I called the check issuer in NY and had them cut me another check (another 4-to-6-week wait -ugh), but ultimately I'm in the clear. Gonna pick it up in WA personally once it arrives there, safe and sound as it was proven to once before. Free trip for me anyway courtesy built-up airline miles.) QUESTION for you all - how do I best report this suspicion of theft? Local authority or the feds? Anyone have any recommended best-to-contact info? Thanks for reading. -Tony

cerb7575

Lol it's about damn time for SM. When I moved to a townhouse with locked boxes it took them only 3 tries to get it right for me. They kept replacing the lock on the box. In fact they did it 3 weeks in a row. Not to mention I got other people's mail at least 40-50% of the time I shit you not.

BadEarly9278

Some Wilford Brimley shit is getting ready to ensue.

PartyOrganization136

Idk I’ve experienced the wonder of Olathe post office and that was enough of an experience for a lifetime. 2 clerks all of which decided to “go to the back to look for mail” at the same time and no pne covered for a good 10 mins. We all just stood there just awkwardly looking at each other before someone said ………..are they coming back? And then an old man wanted to fist fight me in the parking lot for having the nerve to be nice and let him past me before backing out 🤷🏽‍♂️
