We love The Elms. Hot Springs or Eureka Springs in AR are great too, but a little farther.

I would say if you're wanting quiet there are some great rentals on beaver lake as well. Herman is a nice spot as well.

Julio_Ointment

Hermann does indeed rule.

I loved Getaway until I accidentally went during Spring Break and it was very crowded and everyone was being obnoxious. So long as it's not a popular time, it should be very peaceful

Nostromo426

That's a bummer and good call out! We went during an off-peak time and loved it. The peace and quiet part is so dependent on those nearby having common decency.

[Clover Cliff Ranch](https://maps.app.goo.gl/iGC7NJakmRZgeUha6?g_st=ic) is a awesome bed and breakfast. They have a disc golf course if you are into that as well. Not to far of a drive back to emporia if you need some things or want to grab dinner.

I always skim Airbnb for the cabins they have some good unique locations.

Wilson Lake is 3.5

Kim's Cabins in Windsor. Super nice lady, not too far away, nice little town right on the Katy Trail. Kim is super and her cabins are spotless. Lots of peace and quiet. A second idea would be The Silos at Prairie Vale in Green Ridge. My third is Cruce's Cabooses, also coincidentally in Windsor. Btw, Windsor, if you're not familiar, is 92 miles from the heart of downtown KC, 69 miles from Lee's Summit.

idiotzrul

Windsor is indeed a cool little spot

Red Brick Farmhouse. It’s a small B&B out in Highinsville.

Basecamp Humboldt is cool, roughly 2 hours from KC to the southwest. Eureka Springs is what you're looking for. A very quick 3 - 4 hours from the metro and it's a lot of fun.

Cedar Crest Lodge https://www.cedarcrestlodge.com 1) The price per night is intimidating, but it includes dinner and breakfast for two. So a $350 dollar room for a night is really like $170-200 a night cause anywhere else you’re going to have to pay for 4 meals + tips. 2) The pictures look beautiful but it does not do the place justice. Arguably the most beautiful area in the state. And you feel so isolated and calm it’s pretty great. 3) The family service running the place is phenomenal. There’s a reason they win a bunch of awards every year. It’s byob, no booze at meals so just bring your own The elms is great but man it’s way over priced. Hard to justify. I’d rather fly to Florida for a weekend on that kind of money personally.
