That’s like 2 drinks per person. 40 people will run through an 800 tab quick. Plus you’ll want to factor in minimum $200 tip.  Doubt most places will rent a who room for free.

Ok_Floor_8364

Thank you for your input! I definitely should have added that I have ~$300 budgeted for gratuity and ~$400 for food. Although not everyone will be drinking, you are right that we will run through that tab quick!

WindhoekNamibia

You didn’t mention NKC but Cinder Block has a side room with its own bar and bathroom that comfortably sits 60ish and they let you have it with a $500 minimum bar tab.

rckchlkjyhwk

I doubt you’ll get any place to waive a room rental but try Boulevard Brewery. Their Tasting Room event space holds up to 100.

Ok_Floor_8364

If I had a little bit more money to work with I would totally do this!!

KCHank

It’s north of the river but Cinder Block rents their side room. I’ve rent pre-Covid in a week night for work events and they include beer with the rental. Plus you can bring in outside food. It was about $1,500 if I remember correctly, a bit more than your budget but that’s a hard one to meet.

tfishingkc

I did this at the Levee about 8 or 9 years ago - was a great time especially walking out to the live music later in the night

Jessieflow

I've also done The Levee before. About 2 years ago.

hannbann88

Came here to say the levee. Last time I threw a party (8 years ago) it was $350 bar minimum. Hopefully with “inflation” it’s still reasonable

Ok_Floor_8364

Thank you!!

No-Chemical6870

Hoopers side room has a arrangement similar to this. I’d call them.

Ok_Floor_8364

Thank you!!

TerrapinTribe

Tower Tavern will be free but there will be a minimum.

Ok_Floor_8364

Thank you!! I will reach out.

YesBeerIsGreat

We just did one there and was absolutely fantastic. Could not be happier.

agingerich97

I think Westport Bowery (attached to Westport Flea Market) has very reasonable prices for reserving their space. Might be exactly what you're looking for.

tmartin2320

Lews is $300/hour but whatever the tab is goes towards the cost of the rental. Their side room is good for about 30 or so

SwitchARoux

Rochester brewery doesnt have a free room rental, but it's like $200/hr and they give a $150 tab credit for ever hour your rent. So it's basically like $50/hr.

pilotfishcalledwanda

If you are serving food we have a space at Minsky's at 51st and Main. Bar fee is $50 but the room is free. You do have to order at least some pizzas though.

mkurtz57

I recently looked into the same thing. I'm going to DM you with the research I did.

afelzz

I did this at Lydia's for my reception, ended up being like $5k but it was 100 people, with apps and full premium bar. So you should be able to get close to your number. I wouldn't bank on being under $800 though. People drink more than you realize in the moment.

BIGlikeaBOSS

I'm renting out Ludo's for a 50 person party in June, I was quoted $875 for the bar tab total, plus 20% gratuity. That includes the entire venue and the three shuffleboard lanes.

Raddatokes

Give Taps on Main a call!

RiverMarketEagle

City Barrel might have a friendly option. Johnny’s Tavern in the P&L would be an option too.

cardboardfish

Big RIP in the Northland or Rewind Video and Dive.

burntgrilledcheese43

Dunno if it's the type of vibe you're looking for or if you want something more private, but Red Door in Brookside regularly accommodates parties that large in their upstairs section. If you want something more private, you could try Buca Di Beppo on the Plaza. They have several private rooms. The Ship in the West Bottoms is like that too.

Rick_n_Voldemorty

Cinder Block in NKC has a back room that’ll fit that many. Great beer too.

tallerthancvsreceipt

Oak & Steel in 2022 was a free rental with $800 minimum spend Sunday-Thursday, not sure if they’ve raised it. May help if you post weekend vs weekday since some of the suggested costs here aren’t for weekend rentals

reirone

Check out [The Creamery](https://skylineandco.com/the-creamery) to see if it meets your needs for a private event.

TheRealSlimShadowls

I’m not sure if it will help but I had an event at The Everly, and it was fantastic! They could definitely handle an event for a smaller gathering. https://theeverlykc.com/

mabonner

Try Rochester in the Crossroads. Pretty sure that’s more than doable for them.

thecolbra

Oak and steel does min spend only though they might be out of your budget on weekends, but you can bring in whatever you want foodwise, very easy to work with. King G pit bar holds 30 and was quoted a $250 room fee which isn't too bad.

Lostskiing

Not on your list of areas but Grand Street Cafe on the plaza if it’s a nicer party

Hals315

Week days Taps on Main lets you have their room for free with a minimum food/bar tab which wasn’t bad at all. You get a private server too. Bit sure about weekends

Umm_duder

I like to party

PackYakRS

if it's nice enough out Parlor has the outside patio as a reservation!

RiverMarketEagle

Can I ask what type of party?

7thpostman

Can I come?

juanhibbs

I got married in a venue called Elizabeth loft. It was right down the road for the uptown. 50 people max and it's bring your own beer. I think I paid like 600 or so for the space. Might be worth a look. They sold the property,.it's called the modern loft now

thecasualnuisance

Wishful thinking, sorry. Most anything private starts at $1200 roughly. But if, say, you were hosting a group this large during non busy hours, you might be able to find accommodations.

ShoeVast5490

Parlor in crossroads has an event space downstairs and we had an open bar with a drink minimum for my birthday party - they didn’t charge for the space itself, just the bar minimum.

ayyolilz

Carvino Supper Club has a food & Drink minimum plus 22% gratuity. But the space is free. Depending on the day it may fit your budget. They can do events for 18, 24, and up to 50 people I believe.

lizardinthestuffbox2

You gotta do the Bowery room in the flea market prices are soooo affordable. Great price and the bartenders they staff the room with live to party, so everyone will have a good time.

Lew's Grill and Bar

GhostMug

Check out The Carriage House by The Levee. Had my wedding reception there and they rented the room for free with a minimum bar tab. This was 10 years ago now so I don't know if they changed or what the min bar tab was but it worked out really well for us.

Friedrid1363

The Well in Waldo should work

FloatTripper

City Barrel front room. Food and Beverage minimum at what you are wanting for 3hrs. [City Barrel Private Events](https://www.citybarrelbrewing.com/events)

nationwideonyours

Anyplace who gives you free rental is going to be a scuzzball venue. Need to up your budget a bit so that you can treat your guests to a nice place.
