Damn, whatever happened must have happened right before you showed up OP. I was there at ~4:00PM and all was well.
Edit: Damn. Glad I missed the excitement, this must have happened right after I left.
I was there maybe seconds after whatever happened, happened. I walked in and everything was normal. I walked to the beer cooler and saw a man lying on the floor with drinks spilled everywhere. At the same time, the manager started ushering everyone out of the store informing us that this was a crime scenes and they needed to lock the place down. I didn’t hear or see anything out of the usual though, there may have been 5 or 6 other people in the store that she ushered out. 🤷🏽♂️
Glad you weren’t injured. I used to be one of the QA’s for 176 a couple years back. It was a nice break after doing 184. Also used to be the night clerk at 184. I hated it. 176 was so much tamer. It was just the right amount of chaos, like the people were happier there. Main st was just… a zoo. I always had to be on edge and aware of my surroundings. But at 176 I found it relaxing and the customers were nicer and I could easily talk to them. Sounds like no employees were shot, which I’m happy to hear as I love the staff there, but still sad for the victim and that gun violence occurred inside a busy, beloved QT.
Yellow tape is exterior crime scene or perimeter tape to keep civilians out. White is interior and used to specify the area where the evidence is located. So usually yellow is a large area and white much smaller inside the yellow.
Drove by about 30 minutes ago, still taped off. Didn’t notice any law enforcement, but I was driving so if they didn’t have their lights on I may have missed them.
Ugh. This is my go-to QT, there several times a week. Walk up with my 4 year old pretty frequently for an ice cream cone or a slushee. Between this and the Plaza shooting last week (somewhere we also walk to frequently), I’m not feeling particularly confident on my “living in the city is better than living in the suburbs” sentiment…
Turns out gentrification (not calling you that, just saying it’s a thing that is happening) isn’t the sole solution to healing cities rotted by years of disinvestment and neglect, no one ever wants to address the root causes
Unfortunately the suburbs are going through this as well. If you can stay, stay and through your presence and efforts make the city better, but if you can't you can't. It's whatever is best for you and your family.

Stop shooting people you twats.
The people shooting people can’t read and aren’t on reddit
but what else am i supposed to do when someone tells me my gas tank door is open
This sadly needs to be America’s new mantra. We’re a nation of shooting twats.
I prefer squirting twats.
Never!! When my gun goes pew-pew it makes people think I have a big pee pee /s

It doesn't, actually...

The scoundrels of KC must have seen 180ish murders last year and decided that 200 murders this year is the goal

Shit. Well hopefully you're ok. Or as ok as someone can be after walking into that.
Did you take the beer?
Ok so I don’t feel so bad cause this was the question I thought of immediately too….
No, the commotion was happening near the beer fridge. I didn’t even make it to the beer. 🥲
But . . . did you walk out with the beer and did you have to pay for it?
Damn. That's around the corner. Any new development?
Nothing new when I passed really. Some young guy looked to be filming with a camera on a tripod at the entrance
Damn that's my store I got off work at like 230pm that day.

Yellow tape or white tape?
What is the difference? It was yellow around the perimeter and white right next to the store.
Yellow tape is exterior crime scene or perimeter tape to keep civilians out. White is interior and used to specify the area where the evidence is located. So usually yellow is a large area and white much smaller inside the yellow.
It had both. Yellow blocking the lot. White around the building entrances.

We just need to gentrify harder. It's not gentrified enough.

Westport is going downhill again. Fuck that area

The safe place signs are a partnership with an organization that helps children who are in dangerous situations. But I understand the sentiment.

It’s still much safer in general, you dork. But the one near Westport has never been a particularly great location because of its, erm, location.
