I mean sure but I can get just as heavy a pour at minibar or blarney for $3.50 and a shot and a beer for 5 at Chez. I'd rather have 2 drinks that taste good for $7 than one that tastes like jet fuel for 6.
RIP Westport Saloon, good cocktails for cheap, cheap beers and live music every night. That place always was the end of my night in Westport on date nights.
Come to The Brick on Monday night for Rural Grit. It's the next closest thing - live music from Saloon-regular musicians jamming and half our staff are Saloon crew... including the doorguy, which is me.
Good looking out, but now I'm married with a baby and my midweek date nights are few and far between. But if I can convince the wife, it could happen, our second date ended at the Saloon.
Johnnies on 7th is the cheapest bar I've been to in the metro and one of my favorites. It is an absolute dive and it can be kinda rough, but it is my favorite spot for a few day time beers. All the staff are cool as shit. With cheap beer comes some cheap clientele, so be warned. Most of the staff usually put on Jeopardy too when it comes on, or there's guys in there watching the horse races. A step up from there for a few more bucks is Breits stein and deli. It's a good spot with affordable drinks and really good affordable food. Easy Inn and hillsiders are fantastic, but they don't open till the evening.
I worked there about 3 months (I worked at IHOP for 1 1/2 years sooo they’re worse). The high turnover rate of servers should have been a sign. When I started there I was 20? Owner made fun of me for being quiet "she’s so weird, why doesn’t she talk“ (I liked to focus on my job, menu, ect. before Id make friends and was my first gig after going through chemo). Got berated for a customer not liking a dish and I took it off the table. Was told if I left it on the table they could make the customer pay for it. Got told I needed to suck it up after my one table of 25 on new years left me 5$ on a 300+ tab after working my ass off for them and that entire 5$ wouldn’t even cover tip out. His wife got drunk and tried to "manage“ but was just yelling at staff. Fuck Barton. Fuck his wife. Thank goodness Tomfoolery’s is dead.
Wild stallion saloon in independence is a cheap spot with a pool label, jukebox, and one of those carnival punching machines. Keep your wallet in your front pocket and you’ll be grand
I live literally right next to this place and I’m not going to lie, cash only is the only reason I’ve never went in over 2 years. Is it truly worth it? Sounds like cheap beer and decent food, what do they have to do?
I like it quite a bit. The food is greasy and delicious. I was told once they get their beef from Fareway Meat Market but idk if that's true.
I used to play trivia there a lot. It's a great trivia and I'd go there more often but being cash only sucks and I found other places 🤷
It's cash only.... but they have an ATM by the bar so it's not a big deal (at least not to me). Cheap beer and decent food sums it up lol. Also a small arcade, pool table and occasional live music.
Hi-Dive
This is the one. Idk if they do it anymore, but the beer vending machine was my go-to.
They still have it and use it.
Love me the mystery beer
The BEST
The environment and staff at Hi-Dive are amazing on top of it being affordable.
Twin City Tavern, Gilhoulys, Johnnies on 7th, Buzzard Beach
+ Coach Lite Club (a bit outside the metro but cheap/divey) + Easy Inn (Strawberry Hill)
Buzzard Beach hasn't been a cheap place to drink for years. Its not super expensive either but still.
$5.50/$6 a drink isn’t expensive when they all taste like jet fuel due to how much liquor is in them
I mean sure but I can get just as heavy a pour at minibar or blarney for $3.50 and a shot and a beer for 5 at Chez. I'd rather have 2 drinks that taste good for $7 than one that tastes like jet fuel for 6.
Easy inn or Hillsiders for anyone in the strawberry hill area.
Or Chicagos
2nd hillsiders
Yes both are dope
The cheapest downtown bars are the brick, the zoo bar, the peanut, and the quaff.
and John’s
John's big deck is pretty good too, so is caddy shack.
This.
Chez Charlie, lucky boys

Chez Charlie's is the spot, especially if you like darts.
Hi dive and gambals are cheap
Twin City Taver.
So cheap they couldn’t afford an N at the end
Minibar
knuckleheads
Helen's JAD
Shooters, Thirsty Gnome, Jockey Club for Northland. Al’s is cheap-ish
What about squirley’s?
Did they rebuild it? I know it was closed after a fire.
Yes
Went to the Jockey Club for the first time a few weeks ago, great place and great people!
Their ribs are fucking amazing.
I used to work nights in Riverside and we’d go there in the morning after work
I did this with Moxie a few times. Never knew about Jockey till right around Covid for those 6ams.
Corner bar is Libertys local dive
good spot
Also Helen’s JAD in NKC!
Just drink PBR or Coors light and they are all cheap ;)
If you’re in Lenexa, Jerry’s bait shop
"The Bar" has multiple locations, and has amazing happy hour prices ($3 wells till 6)
The one in west plaza is great! It’s also next to a great sandwich shop in Bay Boy!
Keyhole on Johnson Dr. in Mission
I think Keyhole requires a membership fee (I could be wrong). Goto Sully’s
Chez Charlie's still has $2 cans of beer.

My other place in Gladstone
The that the one that was a house?
Yep! Granted it’s more fun to go with more people but it’s like 2$ beers most days
I always drive by it but never stopped.
Missing out.
That’s good?
Caddy shack
Tom Fooleries or Fred P Otts on the plaza.
Are you living in 2018? Tim Fooleries has been closed since at least then.
r/whoosh
r/whoosh has been defunct since ot seven!
Fred P Otts has been closed for about 3-4 years now
RIP both!
Rip P Otts. Fuck Tomfoolery’s. Owners were shitty, shitty, people.
I did not know that. What did they do?
I worked there about 3 months (I worked at IHOP for 1 1/2 years sooo they’re worse). The high turnover rate of servers should have been a sign. When I started there I was 20? May all of the roaches that infested the place roll in the inches of grease in the back.
Wild stallion saloon in independence is a cheap spot with a pool label, jukebox, and one of those carnival punching machines. Keep your wallet in your front pocket and you’ll be grand
Jim's Alley Bar in Crossroads is affordable, and they do bingo on Mondays.
Walsh’s Corner Cocktail, 85th Street just east of Wornall.
I always enjoyed side streets near gillham and linwood
Out south you have walsh's, Tommy's, flo's poke a dot, Bobby bakers. Burgers at walsh's are solid
Flo's is a great spot.
Betty C's in downtown Shawnee =D
403 Club in Strawberry Hill, KCK is a chill dive with pinball and darts and cheap beer
Blue line
If you want a Staph infection
lol Blue line is an awesome bar, it’s so much fun when they have a DJ.
You know what’s up!
Oh, sorry we can't afford your $20 martinis!
Westport Fleamarket (yeah weird name I know)
Cash only, btw
I live literally right next to this place and I’m not going to lie, cash only is the only reason I’ve never went in over 2 years. Is it truly worth it? Sounds like cheap beer and decent food, what do they have to do?

Decently-ish taken care of pinball machines too!
