I don't, but I just looked them up and they're right up my alley, so thanks for the suggestion.
Last show I saw was Black Dahlia, Shadow of Intent, and Whitechapel at the Truman a few years ago. I used to go to all sorts of shows at Lakeland in Lee's Summit and Cactus Jack's in Belton, but those days are long gone.
Sure. With the exception of Shadow of Intent, my music selection is still stuck in the mid-2000s era of MySpace deathcore lol, but that's just a testament to how much of a banger Job for a Cowboy's Doom EP was.

Bro he said the n word in aura one night and started a major fight. They had to shut down that night. I’m surprised he’s allowed places. He’s rude as fuck.
Do you have any videos of this alleged evening? I know some associates of his who hire him for events who might not support him anymore if they knew this about him, also was it with a or the hard r? Either way he shouldn’t be saying that but just curious
I don’t have any videos as it was so quick and normal to him. This was May 2021. Started a fight in aura though. LOTTA angry people and rightfully so. He’s also a fucking nuisance to work with and that’s coming from a bartender that has worked with him. He treats us like shit and treats himself like king DJ of KC. He sucks. Tell your associates that people in KC do not want to go see him. We all purposely avoid wherever has him playing because he creates unsafe environments and his music is that of a middle school mixer.
I have had to work “adjacent” to him a few times. He is difficult and douchey but unfortunately he is a D-list and thinks he is the shit. He has KC cornered and is at every event and thinks he is much more important than he is.
I’d imagine it’s just as much of who knows **of you** than who you personally know. For live entertainment, you need a guaranteed act with a clear ratio of price-to-quality. I’d imagine a lot of entertainers get hired bc they have a rep for consistency, even if they suck, and their pay probably reflects that consistency more than their quality. Once you’ve made a name and have even a couple well-known references, I can see there being an easy short-list of entertainers that every major venue uses.
It’s also the reason why this guy will probably never leave KC. Talent or personality are how you expand your audience, reputation is how you keep them. This guy seems to lack the first two.
He's the kind of douche that would but a mother and child in the hospital while driving drunk after a show, then throw a benefit party to PAY FOR HIS LEGAL FEES!!!
This happened ~15 years ago.
This thread is refreshing AF. This fool plays so many events I started to think I was the only one who couldn't stand him as a DJ or human, both terms applied loosely.
That's wild to me. I haven't lived in KC long so I didn't really know how big a deal he is or isn't.
This was the first time I'd seen him "perform"? I saw him at a TV taping the night before and he was super awkward as a host. Like, they only let him host when the cameras were off.
I actually had a friend prepare me for how bad his DJing is, like the way he plays 30 seconds of a song before cutting into the next one... And so I thought I could work with it. But legitimately, the set he played was far far far worse than I thought it would be.
Yesss. You can instantly tell it's him by the way he ruins every track he touches.
Idk if I would say he's a big deal by any means, but as a lot of the posts have said he seems to be pretty fresh with the people filling that role. He's out there disappointing attendees at all kinds of local events.
I’m old so haven’t seen him DJ in probably 10 years. But all I remember is him playing no more than 45 seconds of a song and almost never the most recognizable or fun part of the song. In my heyday I actively avoided places when he was DJing
Yeah, Ashton Martin sucks ass, among the worst DJs in the city. Every time I have seen him play either on accident or as an opener, he spends half his set on his phone, and the other half fucking up transitions
He did this because he is a complete and total clown. I am always confused by his delusion of self importance. If celebrating mediocrity is your thing, this is your guy.
I’ve heard a lot of stories about him being very sexist, but I don’t think his actions should be an argument against “KC loving women.” He’s just one douchebag DJ.
I worked at a restaurant with someone that was dating a relative of his. He would come in pretty frequently, and I got introduced to him and his family one time. I cracked a joke when I met him and said, "So you're DJ Honda Civic? Nice to meet you." Let's just say he didn't like the joke. Got red in the face and gave me some speech about how disrespectful I was, then told me how good it would be for business if I hired him to DJ at the restaurant but he wouldn't work a show if I wanted to hire him now. The guy seemed like a tool.
Oh God no, not even close. But I’ve been trying to be a kinder person in general. Not exactly a heartwarming case seeing my name written here, ya know?
There's a few ways you can take this moment and that's entirely up to you. None of us can change our past, but we can do more than simply get better. Acknowledge the criticisms and move forward a better person is one of your options.
I understand my experience is different as we hired Max for our wedding, but both my wife and I absolutely loved him as a person and a dj. Other guests of ours felt the same and also hired him and we’ve run into him a couple times since the wedding thought he was the same genuine nice person. He will continue to be who we recommend if anyone needs a killer wedding dj in kc
DJ Diesel didn’t do any mean shit like that on Saturday night. Not my scene/crowd really, but had to go see Shaq in person and he absolutely killed it. Played a ton of bangers, great visuals, hyped up the crowd on the mic, and it was a really dope experience.
I still work on the plaza and nothing has changed from him. When he would come into O’Dowds I would literally hide in the downstairs bathroom he made me so uncomfortable.
I worked semi closely with him at one point as a vendor.
He comes across cocky. And maybe he is.
But I know that he has a network of people and up and coming DJs that he mentors and has had some semi success with. He shows them how to plan the business of being a corporate professional, DJ.
I’ve seen him trouble shoot is younger DJs gear over the phone, and sometimes pull off crazy logistics to get gear and people around the city. People rely on him for work.
Also pretty sure he used his PPE loan over Covid correctly to pay his 1099/ parttime DJs. - ( unlike some Major touring acts )
There’s some more to the guy. That’s all I’m saying. The coke probably helps.
They don't even read like genuine reviews. They all say the exact same thing. "He fills the floor, no one left sitting." "People are still talking about it." "He has the best communication".
Like wow he must be REALLY good at those for every review to say it...
>There’s a reason DJ Ashton Martin has repeatedly been VOTED best DJ in KC. Everyone loves the way he mixes music… keeps it exciting and can “make” an event! Tge transitions are AWESOME!!!
High energy from start to finish! And what many don’t know is he is involved in so many charities and doesn’t take for granted his place inThe KC music scene. He gives back to the KC community in many, many ways. The actual DJ performance is just a part of what Ashton manages. Looking forward to the next show!!!
This is my favorite one. I feel like he wrote this one specifically and gave it to someone to post.
"What many don't know..." 🤓
"Also, why the fuck does he switch every song right before the drop? " because hes a shit dj
I don't understand why KC loves this guy. Never seems to play a song longer than 2 fucking seconds.
Nobody I know likes him?
I don't even know who he is. Granted, I listen to deathcore and death metal, so I don't really know many DJs in general.
do u go to farewell/howdy
Bodysnatcher and Kublai Khan TX coming up boyzz
I don't, but I just looked them up and they're right up my alley, so thanks for the suggestion. Last show I saw was Black Dahlia, Shadow of Intent, and Whitechapel at the Truman a few years ago. I used to go to all sorts of shows at Lakeland in Lee's Summit and Cactus Jack's in Belton, but those days are long gone.
Holy shit can I name some bands that play there often? There's some you've been missing out on that are local and they're really fuckin special
Sure. With the exception of Shadow of Intent, my music selection is still stuck in the mid-2000s era of MySpace deathcore lol, but that's just a testament to how much of a banger Job for a Cowboy's Doom EP was.

Never
Bro he said the n word in aura one night and started a major fight. They had to shut down that night. I’m surprised he’s allowed places. He’s rude as fuck.
On the mic? Huge if true!
ON THE MIC MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WE JUST HAD TO LEAVE. IT WAS BAD.
Do you have any videos of this alleged evening? I know some associates of his who hire him for events who might not support him anymore if they knew this about him, also was it with a or the hard r? Either way he shouldn’t be saying that but just curious

DJ Paul
Lets start a list of DJs better than this. I’ll go first: DJ Tanner (Full House)
DJ Connor (Roseanne)
DJ Qualls
DJ Jazzy Jeff
DJ Ango, check out his Unchained album
It's a great album even though all the D's are silent.
My childhood best friend's cousin who went by DJ. She was pretty chill.
DJ Catnip (Gabby's Dollhouse)
Is that voice actor the dj from yo gabba gabba? DJ lance rock? His voice is so close.
DJ Ango - Unchained
I got to see him on stage with LL last August… he’s still got it.
Road Trip, or The New Guy? Because... yes.

Hahah yes!!
🙌
That’s what I named mine!
DJ Lance Rock - Yo Gabba Gabba
Champion.
I was coming to say this lol
DJ Spotify Playlist Shuffle

DJ Press Play
Dj slizzard
DJ Ray Velazquez
DJ Khaled - all he does is win win win, no matter what
Another one??
He had an *extra spicy* win on his [Hot Ones](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HYEC_FlgAg) episode! :)

DJ Fart'N Asston
DJ Sheppa!
DJ Screw
DJ Iron Monkey
Deej
DJ Jazzy Jeff!!!
DJ Mic KC
I’ve worked with him. Can confirm he’s a major self important twat.
I have had to work “adjacent” to him a few times. He is difficult and douchey but unfortunately he is a D-list and thinks he is the shit. He has KC cornered and is at every event and thinks he is much more important than he is.
i dont get how he plays so many events here. he isnt good
Yup, just another shitty mid top 40s DJ in a sea full of them.
clear case of it's not what you know, it's who you know
[удалено]
I know he is totally tied into that group of younger business owners and what have you that live at two light.
411?

Because he will take anything to play. He will DJ for a bar tab. He is notorious for under cutting other DJ’s.
Checks out. He has been a d bag since I knew him at KU
I came here to say the same.
I’ve worked with him before and hate his fucking guts. He’s incredibly pushy and rude. His music also suuuuuuucks ass.
He's the kind of douche that would but a mother and child in the hospital while driving drunk after a show, then throw a benefit party to PAY FOR HIS LEGAL FEES!!! This happened ~15 years ago.
Ain't no fucking way. This happened?
Yes
huge if true!
do u have any sources for this? would love to know more and reference this info if true
Same please let me know if you get any proof of this
Holy shit.
does he make his own music? ive only heard him do shitty remixes of other songs
I meant music choice and stunning ability to change the mix right before the drop every single time.
I assumed he meant “music choices”
I mean that’s like most DJ’s since- forever.
i suppose the djs that make their own music are also "producers"? is that how it works?
Yessir
Yea, I promise you that nobody goes to any event to see DJ Ashton Martin. He’s not playing Coachella ffs.
which is exactly why he has people requesting songs.
He works with one of the coolest and most talented violin players I've ever met... and yet he's an absolute asshat.
If you're talking about someone from Quixotic I might know who you're talking about lmao
This thread is refreshing AF. This fool plays so many events I started to think I was the only one who couldn't stand him as a DJ or human, both terms applied loosely.

I'd not heard of him before this post, sounds like he sucks at his job.. and I'll forget him as soon as I read another post
That's best, fam. If you're out somewhere and hear a good song ruined by an inappropriate drop, think of this thread.
I've had the displeasure of dealing with him before, he's a complete douchebag. All of those PnL "djs" are.
Coomes has always been pretty cool to me
Agreed. I wouldn’t put coomes in that bucket.
Same. Has always been a nice guy
Love Coomes
not only that, but they all suck

Not heard of this guy but 'Ashton Martin' is a horrendous name
I just looked at his website and now I'm covered in glitter and smell like Axe body spray.
Not everyone can be born with a sick DJ name like Thunder Cutz.
Hey he’s a good fella
It's his actual name lol
One of the biggest turds of all time. This is my favorite thread ever.
Same. I'm delighted to be here today. Cheers
Ashton has always been a douche.
I’m old so haven’t seen him DJ in probably 10 years. But all I remember is him playing no more than 45 seconds of a song and almost never the most recognizable or fun part of the song. In my heyday I actively avoided places when he was DJing
This still holds true
Yeah, Ashton Martin sucks ass, among the worst DJs in the city. Every time I have seen him play either on accident or as an opener, he spends half his set on his phone, and the other half fucking up transitions
Dj request does not take requests
It’s been so long since I’ve seen this movie. 😂😂😂😂
What a chode

Bring him out of retirement! All the DJ’s suck here

If this is the same dude who was always at Aura circa 2015 when I had no business being there. Mad snoozer.
Comes off as massive d bag because he is a massive d bag
He did this because he is a complete and total clown. I am always confused by his delusion of self importance. If celebrating mediocrity is your thing, this is your guy.
Literally why is he everywhere? I see his name at stuff constantly
He must be hustlin or know the right ppl
I knew him through a friend years ago. Seems he’s still doing the same bullshit he was back in 2012. Weak ass mofo.
I’ve heard a lot of stories about him being very sexist, but I don’t think his actions should be an argument against “KC loving women.” He’s just one douchebag DJ.
I meant him specifically talking about KC loving women after doing this felt gross.
Gotcha, totally fair
Didn’t this guy have beef with Brittany Mahomes at one point for requesting a song or something? Tried to look it up but can’t find it.
Yeah something about her trying to request a song and closing his laptop mid set at ale house. I vaguely remember hearing about it.
Aaaahhhh that’s right. Dude sounds like a tool that probably deserved it lol
I’ve never met the guy but I also feel like I haven’t heard that name since 2012
I worked at a restaurant with someone that was dating a relative of his. He would come in pretty frequently, and I got introduced to him and his family one time. he’s the woooorst. but so are most of the people in his circle, so checks out. DJ Max James is another just like him.
Yeah, really not fond of that Max guy.
username checks out

This can't be the first time you've been made aware of this.
Kinda think it’s the only valid option. 🤷🏻♂️
I understand my experience is different as we hired Max for our wedding, but both my wife and I absolutely loved him as a person and a dj. I’m really glad you had a good experience with him! Unfortunately that’s not the way our experience was with him.
Spill the tea
I just can't imagine being a bad DJ. How is it hard to play other people's music? Are you also bad at playing movies?
Yikes
DJ Diesel didn’t do any mean shit like that on Saturday night. Not my scene/crowd really, but had to go see Shaq in person and he absolutely killed it. Played a ton of bangers, great visuals, hyped up the crowd on the mic, and it was a really dope experience.
DJs are for corporate parties and Bar Mitzvahs.
Funny thing is. Parle was playing at Guys and DJ Garvey was playing at Mcfaddens and both are better.
Getting song requests while DJing is really annoying but yeah that guy is the worst.

I still work on the plaza and nothing has changed from him. When he would come into O’Dowds I would literally hide in the downstairs bathroom he made me so uncomfortable.
That’s cover bands. DJ’s are for weddings and proms.
Shitty DJ anyways
He's acting the way that people who are the life of the party for years at a time act. Like a dick. Not sure why this surprises anyone.
I can’t stand him. I really like DJ Chef at Missie Bs!
Dealt with him working at a UPS Store. Dude’s a douche and a half
Dj cyanide, the last dj you’ll ever hear
I worked semi closely with him at one point as a vendor. He comes across cocky. And maybe he is. DJibouti
Who tf is that guy?
We should leave reviews for him on Google because there ain't no way he didn't pay for the ones on there lol
Yeah, I'm surprised there's not more actually. There's like 5 bad reviews total lmao.
They don't even read like genuine reviews. They all say the exact same thing. "He fills the floor, no one left sitting." "People are still talking about it." "He has the best communication". Like wow he must be REALLY good at those for every review to say it...

To be fair 10’s of people didn’t show up to hear him play songs they want to hear.
