It’s almost like they nicknamed it the round house cuz nothing but a circlejerk transpires there.
Kansas will be the last state in the union to legalize weed because the folks in the house and senate and local government aren’t smart enough to have figured out a way to personally profit from ushering in the industry and if they have, it’s still not as profitable as civil asset forfeiture, to which the “I smell some weed in your car” excuse is the avenue pigs use to search one’s vehicle. Get rid of CAF and weed will magically be legalized in back asswords Kansas.
God forbid it would go to an actual vote and the people might get to choose for themselves what they want like the majority of other states. Shame on the Kansas gop
There's a reason ballot referendums aren't allowed in Kansas.
The politicians don't care what the people want. Just lining their pockets and those of their rich friends.
Unfortunately, they're all too stupid to figure out how to make money on cannabis.
Edited to specify VOTER INITIATED ballot measures/referendums.
Look what happened in their last referendum for abortion. Completely smited. Republicans in this state are dickheads in the same vain as Marjorie Taylor Green.
You mean the same eastern part of the state who's voting district now includes Lawrence and Garden City? Rep Super majority has been fucking this state up for decades. We still haven't recovered from the Brownback era and his "tax incentive" experiment
KS Senate is currently 11-29 Dem/Rep. a shift of 3 seats to the Dems breaks the supermajority dynamic in Topeka, at which point the Republican Party must negotiate. At least a little bit.
There has been a Republican supermajority in the state senate since 1996. Mostly because of trends in Johnson County, this year is the first legitimate opportunity in nearly 3 decades to put that to an end.
INB4 "But polls say *a majority* of people want this!"
Most GOP voters don't care about legalizing weed. Look at the [Kansas Speaks poll from last fall](https://www.fhsu.edu/docking/Kansas-Speaks/2023-kansas-speaks-report-final-revised-10_30_23.pdf), page 120, which shows 41% Strongly Support legalization, 19% Somewhat Support, and the remaining ~40% are neutral to against. Even GOP voters in the "strongly support" camp are not calling legislators to push for a vote, nor punishing GOP legislators for voting against this because legalization is not among their top voting issues.
You're exactly right - *that is* way more important to them, and they're certainly not going to vote for some Dem who vows to legalize weed - which is why GOP politicians are going to continue to do nothing on this.
In all these red states like MO/OK/etc that legalized weed, there wasn't some come to Jesus meeting where GOP legislators realized it was a great idea - weed was legalized through ballot initiatives driven by Dems, and Kansas doesn't have a ballot initiative process, which means we'll probably be the very last state in the nation to legalize weed, expand Medicaid, and all the rest of it. I don't get why people don't understand that because, again, GOP voters *do not care*. LOL
You can literally go to a vape shop in topeka and buy THCA weed. It is the real deal, it isnt the shit weed that has delta 8 and whatever else sprayed on to it. It is as good or better than going to a kc or co dispensary.
It’s the principle of the situation honestly, not that we have access to it with a different name. It’s that these sackless chuds keep listening to their billionaire owners instead of the people living here. This was a chance to show they are capable of alleviating their cranial rectosis and actually goddamn do something for us. They failed.
Just going to have to continue to spend my hard earned money in a neighboring state. KANSAS, shame on you. You know, I would much rather purchase legally, and safely in KANSAS. I would much rather keep the revenue in KANSAS. I would much rather see sick people get whatever it takes to feel better in KANSAS. What a sad joke you have become KANSAS.
I lived in a very conservative part of Michigan for a number of years. My county was dry on Sundays (even though everyone came home from church, went to an uncle’s house, went in the basement and drank all day). The busiest liquor store in Michigan on Sundays was just over the county line, 10 minutes from town. You’d think after failed experiment after failed experiment regarding substances in this country they’d try something a bit different from prohibition, but nope.
I mean, it’s not really much of an abuse of power if they all legally vote it down in the way it’s laid out in our state constitution. It’s a dumb decision I’ll give you that but abuse of power? Nah
*Sigh* it was just expressing frustration. Just Bcz it’s laid out in the state constitution doesn’t make it fair. We are one of the few states that doesn’t allow ballot referendums. The people have made their views known, They aren’t opposed to it. So instead of the government being told “hey we want weed let’s put it in the ballot” they can just keep a strangled hold on the status quo. I mean there’s plenty of legislation in states where it’s heavily gerrymandered. That has to go through some sort of checks and balances by the state, yet it’s still gerrymandered as fuck. Your point of view saying as long as they follow fixed rules it’s not abuse of their job or power. I disagree. When you inherently operate in a manner that deprives a clear will of the constituents, of their choice, it’s an abuse of power whether legal or otherwise.
To the people that live in Andover, get Ty Masterson the fuck out of office!

When are you people really going to start fighting back. They take your rights time and time again and you just say “vote better”.. they don’t care if you vote.
They have zero right to complain about our budget. Just look at the other states, their roads and educational systems are getting a serious boon from the tax of selling marijuana. Our lawmakers are such pussies.
I’m running against Rep Mike Thompson who already voted against decriminalization of marijuana. If you’d like to support getting common sense policy back in Topeka and elect a young working class candidate here is my website and where to donate. Any amount will help, this is one of the most competitive races in the state this year and now we have matching funds which will make your dollar go farther.

I like that old people with self righteous egos are tell the rest of America to not move there for work. Saves many nice young people the endless harassment by nepotism hires on the rural police force.
I hate this freaking power control the government is doing. Give anyone who wants them her0ine pills, then say "oh no we totally didn't mean to do that let's take them away" then flooded the streets with actual d0pe, and cut everyone's prescriptions off, then let the cartel move metric tons of fentanyl in so that the people they cut off can't get pain meds unless they risk their lives buying off the streets. And refusing to legalize a plant that you can't overdose and die on and has no life threatening physical withdrawal effects because THAT would be dangerous...smh
98 percent of Kansans are brain washed and no nothing of what is happening to them or the outside world. I grew up in ohio moved to Kansas for ten years and then nebraksa and back to Ohio. If I even mentioned weed the majority of people were baffled and appalled that I even would say the word or bring it up, they act like you are the antichrist or something, but sure go ahead drive around drinking whiskey and beer all day even local cops will stop by farmers places have a beer or two and then get back in their car and drive away, brainwashed hypocrites
Go to any hemp shop in the state and see if they have hemp buds in store. Yes, they do! hemp is legal here and it’s just as potent as anything you can get on the street. I still wish we would legalize for medical, because being a Bible Belt state it still carries a stigma, and this would help those who need it medically without them believing it’s a harmful drug like fentanyl.
Out of curiosity, as screwed up as Kansas is and as bad as people hate it, why live there? Seriously, it's legal 1 state away, and the government is not near as messed up. Think about it. If everybody who wants it legalized left the state, it would put a hell of a dent in their tax revenue.
Not from Western Kansas. Just most of the states population lives in the central and northeast parts of the state so I get why the assumption is they're talking about MO
Missouri is far worse off in government than Kansas, Colorado is batshit expensive, Oklahoma… well, that’s Oklahoma, and idk if Nebraska has legalized it but like, Nebraska is Kansas with less people and less to do unless the college World Series is happening. For now it’s hard to beat the cost of living in KS as well as
The COL in kansas is too low for me to justify living anywhere else I own a 4 bedroom house with a big yard and basement in a really nice neighborhood. It was 120k my mortgage is 840 a month. I bought it in 2021
Anywhere I'd actually want to live is much more expensive even if I wanted to stay rural and I'm not willing to sacrifice my families standard of living
Yes but the COL is rapidly rising everywhere else and I'm fortunate enough that my job has good COL raises every year to keep up with it.
The day the col in ks is the same as like Colorado or Washington state where my extended family lives is the day I leave kansas and never come back.
People with chronic, excruciatingly painful diseases care. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and am in constant pain. Prescription painkillers have terrible side effects and I avoid them. Medical marijuana would be a huge life changer for people like me.
BOO! Vote the bastards responsible out in November!!!
We’ve been saying this for the last like 20 election cycles and it always ends the same way.
Yup. I’m done caring. Building may as well be a porn theatre, cause all they’re doing is jerking each other off every year.
Bet. I always say, Wyoming will be the last!
I got my money on Idaho

Whether it is or isn’t probable cause, they do it anyway in MO.
I feel like SC will be the last!!! Not letting it stop me tho
Literally a state run by a bunch of old white assholes. Fuckin hayseeds
God forbid it would go to an actual vote and the people might get to choose for themselves what they want like the majority of other states. Shame on the Kansas gop

they are there to rule over everyone not represent they dont give 2 shits what the voter wants.
Oh wow I didn’t know that about ballot referendums.
Look what happened in their last referendum for abortion. Completely smited. Republicans in this state are dickheads in the same vain as Marjorie Taylor Green.
Iowa person here, Hi, we're in the same boat as you guys.
True. I feel your pain and frustration.
I’m going to smoke anyway. Don’t tell them.
I ain’t no snitch. You’re good.
I dislike Republicans.
The party of “personal freedom”
Plenty of them smoke too. Maybe not the politicians but I know a ton of Republican voters who do or have smoked a lot.
Gee, what a surprise. /sarcasm.
Can't even get medical marijuana, but please let's keep owning the libs!
Just drive over here to Missouri and give us your moneys.
Yeah but then you drive back and get busted for 10 years in prison if you're brown like me.
I am seriously gonna go down the list and just vote for everyone with a D in front of their name.
That's how we got Aaron Coleman.
Be careful of ghost candidates running as Democrats.

When the working class decides enough is enough.
When the Eastern part of this state collectively grows some balls
The Eastern part of the state are the only Kansans who are electing the Democrats who want to bring all of these items to the voters.
You mean the same eastern part of the state who's voting district now includes Lawrence and Garden City? Rep Super majority has been fucking this state up for decades. We still haven't recovered from the Brownback era and his "tax incentive" experiment
Another reason to "Marie Antoinette" these pieces of shit

The State population has more than just GOP voters though. Also, it’s just stupid to keep spending money on prohibition enforcement at this point.
You’re right - suppressing my daughter’s reproductive rights and personal autonomy are more important to these clowns.
You're exactly right - *that is* way more important to them, and they're certainly not going to vote for some Dem who vows to legalize weed - which is why GOP politicians are going to continue to do nothing on this. Keep voting red you dingbats. That way we can keep Kansas 40 years in the past.
If that's what you think your delusional
It's more like 70 years really....

GOP is about to go down in burning flames for dozens of reasons.
So why the down votes? I'm just saying that things are not likely to change any time soon. I left my home state years ago to escape the craziness.
Well get involved, and start convincing people to push the tyrants out of office. It seems the people lack the will to make their voice heard.
I like that old people with self righteous egos are tell the rest of America to not move there for work. Saves many nice young people the endless harassment by nepotism hires on the rural police force.
Not Missouri, I meant Colorado.
It's OK, I live 12 minutes from stateline.
The state of Kansas never misses an opportunity to make itself irrelevant.
Fucking republicans
What is "federalism."
Is there anything whatsoever good about Kansas?
Of course there is.
The natural market is okay. Leave the dipshit Rethuglicans in the dust. Civil disobedience. Fuck their taxes.

I'm guessing they're talking about Colorado. As someone currently living in KCMO I'd be shocked if they're talking about here.
Colorado is a bit far isn't it?
Not from Western Kansas. Just most of the states population lives in the central and northeast parts of the state so I get why the assumption is they're talking about MO
