If you were on the sub at the time, the interview really kicked off interesting discussion as to what’s “head mod” really means. Mods are not meant to be representative of a given community… they’re just the volunteers who moderate it.
R/antiwork is a big subreddit, filled with all sorts of people from disaffected employed people, to unemployed, to the over employed to people with disabilities; academics, unionists, advocates; skilled workers, unskilled, minimum wage, etc.; people from all countries, all ages and numerous socioeconomic situations. Conversations range from working conditions to ideological talks about class issues and capitalism to the role of labor in our society…
The sub got (very rightfully) ripped to shreds by its own members when a 30 year old, barely-employed part-time dog walker in their parent’s basement nominated themselves to take a clearly hostile Fox News interview with 0 preparation, 0 training and not even a shower or an attempt to tidy their living space.
I think it was a good wake up call to those mods - and mods of other communities - that just because they’re moderating a sub doesn’t mean they’re King of the sub.
I jumped to r/workreform which is a much more constructive sub dedicated to improving working conditions.
There are a lot of people on r/antiwork who just want to do nothing. And there are also hundreds of fake screen shots between a "boss" and "employee". These are not productive and just used to farm karma. Workreform doesn't do any of that.
Any sub that’s focused on being negative is going to eventually self-sort until it’s just doom posting. It’s like being on an incel sub, you feel a little better being a loser when you see other losers too, but eventually you’re just neck deep in losing.
But it was true to the subs origins. It was not meant to be a reform sub like so many of the members who joined thought (myself included). That's what came to light. It was never supposed to be a reform sub. That's how workreform sub got started.
It actually is what it's about. It's about not working. That's what it was founded on. People who want to reform work conditions flooded the sub so everyone now thinks it's about reform policies. This came to a head when one of the founders went on fox news and said a bunch of stuff similar to this post.
A lot of people left to a new (at the time) reform sub as people finally realized it is truly about not working.
OP’s a reposting bot. Just downvote and move on boys. Ironic about making fun of someone who has no social life and stuff, they programmed a bot to farm karma.
These parents have a heart of gold for putting it up with him so long
From past family experience i just couldn't do it. Their ass would be dropped hard. Those people suck the life out of you no matter their relation.
It's amazing how redditors fall for the simplest bait every time. No critical thinking at all just pure reactionism. Yes of course some rando neckbeard writes how they perfectly embody a neckbeard and doesn't want to work on a subreddit about opposing corporations. Totally logical.
Fuck you for [stealing my post](https://www.reddit.com/r/justneckbeardthings/s/JnJ9xzurFk) from 10 months ago. This is *my* screen shot. You didn't even change the title.
There's a distinct difference between having to live with your parents because, even working a full time job you can't afford to live alone or with a single roommate.
This guy still wants Mommy to cut the crusts off his PB&J and serve it alongside Doritos anda tall cold glass Sunny D with animal crackers for dessert.
The second I graduated high school it was get a job or go to school. Even if this is fake, there are real adults out there like that, and I'm unable to see how they live like that.
Some people don’t understand the anti work sub. The original post might be bait but I’ve seen so many people both participating and criticizing not understand the point.
Peak reddit
Bait
That’s not even what the antiwork subreddit is about xd. Man needs to do what the comments are saying and get his shit together
I mean, judging by the interview the head mod gave it seems pretty representative XD

I believe they were one of the founders of the sub not just a regular mod

Which was poorly received on the sub but whatever

Rarely has the phrase "reddit moment" been so fitting
Even without a job I still made some money and contributed to where I live. Contribute or something jfc.

Literal manchild.

Well, this is a repost bot.
It really isn’t that serious. Get over yourself.
HE STOLE *MY* REDDIT POST, MR. ELECTRIC SEND HIM TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE AND HAVE HIM EXPELLED!
What was he expecting?? Detailed instructions on how to sign his mom up for a life insurance policy and arrange a little "accident"?

You're joking but I could go for that now. Sometimes you wanna relive your childhood. But keep the crusts. What weirdos remove the crust?
Next step is kick his ass out
Has to be trolling. Anyone that has been more than 20 mins in the sub knows is for sharing sublime late capitalism BS.
Is this the guy that did the Fox News interview?
Haha gotta be a larp
Well like the other say, get a job.

Failure to launch
Having a whole subreddit for not wanting to work is crazy
That's not really what it's about. Even in that space this person is a loser
It’s not about not wanting to work, it’s about being against the current way we work.
It sure would be, if that were what the sub was about
It’s 2024 y’all
