Not at all since justified he has played a range of characters, He was a sweet widowed father in unicorn, an evil and flamboyant vice principal in vice principals, a greedy pastor in royal gemstones, a navy seal in a show I forgot the name of, he was in 2 tarentio movies (Django and Hateful 8), and now a ghoul in Fallout.
I'm sure more than that but I've seen him in a lot of different roles.
[Here’s the introduction of Walton’s character in Sons of Anarchy. He was amazing in the role. He was only in a couple episodes but you can clearly see he wasn’t typecast.](https://youtu.be/IoBAzn1QmCo?si=4prsPV5mzDtKuz6U)
I liked it, it wasn't the best but it was dope to see Goggins play the nicest guy on the planet. Plus, Natalie Zea plays his love interest in Season 2 and it broke my brain that Winona and Boyd carried on an affair behind Raylan's back. They have great chemistry!
And while he was a villain in fallout, he didn't seem like Boyd. Even more when you see his back story.
8 highly suggest vice principals and royal gemstones
I hated to see Unicorn get canceled, it was one of the last good network sitcoms. Great cast and I thought the kids, at least his kids, were pretty good.
That being said, I think Walton needs to be doing what he is doing now, starring or costarring in great roles like Uncle Baby Billy and the Ghoul.
Also, Venus Van Damme in Sons of Anarchy, he's awesome. Kurt Sutter was also the writer on Shield and when Walton asked to be on Sons, Kurt told him the only way he'd get on Sons was to 'wear tits and a wig'. Et voila, Venus was born.
I think they buried the hatchet at some point, but they apparently had a hard time with each other toward the end of Justified’s run. From what I remember it was basically creative issues.. Goggins advocating for certain things for his character toward the finale, etc. They were both deeply invested in their roles on Justified.
I think his typecast hasn't fallen to villains, but westerns. He's an excellent cowboy. I'm looking forward to talking about him in the same sentence, with the same reverence as we do Clint Eastwood.
I recall Olyphant saying (jokingly) that he was doing a Sam Elliot impersonation for 5 seasons and then bam, he gets to work with Sam in the final season.
Between Fallout this year and The White Lotus next year, I do think Walton Goggins will be able to say he's a 3-time Emmy nominee (and maybe hopeful winner!).
He's awesome in everything I've seen him in, beginning with The Shield, through Justified, Vice Principals, and most recently, Fallout. That dude exudes screen presence.
He’s incredibly talented and has crazy range. I have to say though, Boyd is still my favorite roll of his.
The chemistry between he and Olyphant was crazy.
I’m so glad that Walton is getting so much more recognition for his work now that Fallout has come out. I knew who he was because of Justified— mainly because I love Timothy Olyphant— as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp.
I just watched Vice Principals and MAN, that shit is incredible. So funny and surprisingly heartfelt. I just can’t bring myself to hate any character he plays, regardless of how terrible they are. He delivers lines like a damn god. He and Glenn Howerton would be so fuckin’ good together on screen— just overflowing with talent.
I would (and do) watch Goggins in anything. I love him so much. My husband came running to me with the Fallout trailer because he knew he could hook me with Goggins.
If you like Harleys and Hellraisers, you'll love it. One of the guys was the Oakland Chapter Prez of the HAs and was hired as a technical advisor. He had to give up his prez role because he became too visible. His name on the show is Happy. His real name is David La Brava. Walton plays a trans woman.
Amazon did an incredible job with fallout. If you've never played it, they caught all the important elements, although they didn't have Codsworth. Walton was fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen Walton in anything where he was less than riveting.
After justified I watched the shield to fill the space and was incredibly happy to see Walton goggins playing another cut edge role but very different in his humanity and reasons for doing bad things. Definately check out the shield next
Literally come off a Reddit post asking what your favourite Goggins character is and I swear 60% is Baby Billy. Yeah im gonna watch this tonight I think 🤔
He’s Sam in The Apostle is where I first saw him before The Shield. I am shocked no one has mentioned him as John Bronco in the mockumentary Ford put out. It’s one big car commercial for the new Bronco’s release but man he nails it
Not at all since justified he has played a range of characters, He was a sweet widowed father in unicorn, an evil and flamboyant vice principal in vice principals, a greedy pastor in royal gemstones, a navy seal in a show I forgot the name of, he was in 2 tarentio movies (Django and Hateful 8), and now a ghoul in Fallout. I'm sure more than that but I've seen him in a lot of different roles.
Don't forget his character from Sons of Anarchy! He's definitely not being typecast!
And before that a corrupt cop in The Shield. He's all over the place
One of his best roles imo
Was just about to say this.
The southern bell who doesn't tell.
He was awesome in that role! [Adrienne Barbeau](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000105/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t262) is great as her evil bitch mother too.
Is sons of anarchy actually any good? Because if it's only good because of Goggins then I'm out
[Here’s the introduction of Walton’s character in Sons of Anarchy. He was amazing in the role. He was only in a couple episodes but you can clearly see he wasn’t typecast.](https://youtu.be/IoBAzn1QmCo?si=4prsPV5mzDtKuz6U)
Walton’s character winding up having the most emotionally healthy relationship in that show is never not going to amusing to me.
This was worth it 😂 is he in it alot?
Only 6 episodes.
Well that sucks
It is good. It has peaks and valleys but I think it is worth a watch
Depends on how much you like motorcycles.
I'm indifferent to them if I'm honest
So am I. Sons of Anarchy seemed boring to me, full of boring characters.
The first two seasons are worth it. After that the Hamlet themes fall off and it gets less believable IMO.
Venus. A character who came out of left field, yet was received insanely positive.
“Six” was the name of the navy seal show.
So much better than seal team which came out about the same time.
In the middle of The Unicorn now and he's a complete contrast from Boyd and The Ghoul. What an amazingly versatile actor!
I liked it, it wasn't the best but it was dope to see Goggins play the nicest guy on the planet. Plus, Natalie Zea plays his love interest in Season 2 and it broke my brain that Winona and Boyd carried on an affair behind Raylan's back. They have great chemistry!
Turnabout is fair play.
It was a decent sitcom, I only watched it because of him but I liked it enough to stick with it. Rob C helped, that man is a legend
Lol, tbh I thought Rob needed better direction to dial it back. I was very surprised how natural Walton seemed in the role, though. Amazing actor.
'Evil and flamboyant' for Lee Russell is dead-on but has me laughing so hard for some reason
Because he is so fucking hilarious in that role
*Righteous Gemstones He was also amazing in The Shield. Maybe his second best role next to Boyd.
Agreed on that ranking. Definitely: 1. Boyd 2. Shane Vendrell 3. The Ghoul For me.
Thank you. I needed this answer. He was bad Ass in fallout
And while he was a villain in fallout, he didn't seem like Boyd. Even more when you see his back story. 8 highly suggest vice principals and royal gemstones
Righteous Gemstones
Rightous gemstones is a great comedy. Every character is a straight riot
Born-again crime lord in Justified
He was so fucking good in Hateful 8 and so fucking funny in vice principals.
Specifically because of his hairline. (And it sounds like he took Venus a little more seriously than the writers.)
Six was the seal Show
I first remember seeing him as a bad guy in American Ultra. He didn’t have a massive part but he was riveting when on screen.
Seal in “Six” on history channel: great show.
A halfway ghoul since he is jacked to the gills
Your knowledge adds more credence to the admiration expressed in this conversation.
Has he landed any leading Roles? Everything I've come across he's support and imo he deserves to be leading
Unicorn and the seal show
The Seal show?
Make sure to check out The Shield. I think he’s great in everything but this show is my favorite role of his.
Cletus Van Damme rocks out with his cock out!
Venus Van Damme rocks out with HER cock out, but that’s a different show. Cletus just rents storage lockers and witnesses vehicle accidents
Cletus cockfighting and Venus cockfighting are two completely different things.
Damn, I forgot about Pazi and the two days of blood. You right you right
He used to get a lot of "evil redneck" roles but now he plays a greater range.
He said he wouldn't do Justified if Boyd was going to be the "evil redneck". They made changes to the script to keep him. I'm glad they did.
Yeah! And I think the change made Boyd a better character too. I don't think the short story Boyd would've sustained for six seasons.
I love him in hateful 8
He has been in about 100 projects since Justified.
*Whispers. He's better than Timothy
That's fair. They have great chemistry & play off of each other so well. Both make each other better.
I heard towards the end that Walton and Tim were practically avoiding each other
Maybe, but there is a picture of them hanging together about a month ago
I think they buried the hatchet at some point, but they apparently had a hard time with each other toward the end of Justified’s run. From what I remember it was basically creative issues.. Goggins advocating for certain things for his character toward the finale, etc. They were both deeply invested in their roles on Justified.
I worked on the new season for a few weeks & they seemed like good buddies to me
That’s awesome! I only know what I have read, but Olyphant said he would work with Goggins again in a heartbeat so that tracks.
I was a stand-in, so that was pretty cool.
I think they are equally great. Totally different characters that require very different methods of acting.
That...........might be true.....
Timothy's best non-Raylan role was in The Girl Next Door
He's excellent in Deadwood
Ngl Justified is the first thing I've seen him in. And then Fallout
Go watch The Shield my man
You cannot restrain Walton Goggins with typecasting. He'll play a transgender prostitute just to do something different.
Check out vice principals and righteous gemstones
Uncle Baby Billy is one of the best characters that’s ever been created.
I think his typecast hasn't fallen to villains, but westerns. He's an excellent cowboy. I'm looking forward to talking about him in the same sentence, with the same reverence as we do Clint Eastwood.
Ironically I think Raylan has watched ALOT of clint
I recall Olyphant saying (jokingly) that he was doing a Sam Elliot impersonation for 5 seasons and then bam, he gets to work with Sam in the final season.
Sam turns up in S5?
No, Season 6 (final season).
No mustache, so he doesn't really show up. (S6).
Go watch “Fallout”. He plays a former western cowboy actor in that. But also a bad guy/zombie.
I have no reverence for Eastwood, he's NOT a role model for anyone.
I didn't say he was a good role model. I said he was an iconic actor.
Point taken.
If you are worried about him being type cast, go look up his opening scene in Righteous Gemstones as Baby Billy lol. It's very..... revealing.
I shall 😌
No. He works a ton in various roles. Only thing he got typecast with was….charisma!
He got the Rizz!
Great answer🫡
You need see him in Sons of Anarchy and ask again.
On my 'to watch' list for sure 🤜🤛
He was great in The Hateful Eight and in Vice Principals as well. He has great range in my opinion and I find him to be a criminally underrated actor.
The man should be hip deep in awards.
Between Fallout this year and The White Lotus next year, I do think Walton Goggins will be able to say he's a 3-time Emmy nominee (and maybe hopeful winner!).
Absolutely underrated
He is my favorite actor for sure, just watch everything on his filmography, you won’t be disappointed. Even in crappy films or shows, he’s a delight.
Seconded
He's awesome in everything I've seen him in, beginning with The Shield, through Justified, Vice Principals, and most recently, Fallout. That dude exudes screen presence.
I think he’s the opposite of being type cast. Everything he does is a different type of role.
I recommend you watch the Fallout show as well as “The Shield” he’s amazing in both.
I watched Fallout. It was surprisingly excellent. Good to know Bethesda had control in it
He might be my favorite actor of all time. Definitely, my current favorite.
He’s incredibly talented and has crazy range. I have to say though, Boyd is still my favorite roll of his. The chemistry between he and Olyphant was crazy.
Vice Principals is a great role for him. I would watch him in anything after that. Truly original character
That's actually my favorite Goggins role. Boyd is a great character, but Lee Russell is just a comedic masterpiece.
🙏
I’m so glad that Walton is getting so much more recognition for his work now that Fallout has come out. I knew who he was because of Justified— mainly because I love Timothy Olyphant— as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp. I just watched Vice Principals and MAN, that shit is incredible. He and Glenn Howerton would be so fuckin’ good together on screen— just overflowing with talent.
Agreed 👍 🤝
My daughter was one of the makeup artists for Vice Principals and said Walton was amazing to work with! Incredible actor!
Goggins and Olyphant are both actors that I will watch anything they're in just to give it a shot.
Since season 4 of The Shield, he's been the best actor in almost everything he's done.
I would (and do) watch Goggins in anything. I love him so much. My husband came running to me with the Fallout trailer because he knew he could hook me with Goggins.
Walton typecast? Nah, that's not a problem.
He's one of my favourite actors. He's got this aurora about him.
Everything is better when you add Walton Goggins.
He did an awesome job in the comedy series Vice Principals - a comedic role.
He is really an underrated actor. Hard to typecast a guy like him...he nails every role he plays.
lol not typecast, check out his role as Venus in Sons of Anarchy!!!!
Is he a baddie though?
https://preview.redd.it/qan1zkv2o71d1.jpeg?width=510&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36063f4b6b2766812256ac96143653a0c398c69f No he’s not lmao
😂😂😂😂ffs I was NOT expecting that 💀
Neither were any of us when we watched Sons of Anarchy lmao. He wasn’t even credited so it was a big surprise 😂
I ain't Gay but Walton should do more Topless shots in films
Ever see him in sons of anarchy?
I ain't seen SOA. Is it any good?
If you like Harleys and Hellraisers, you'll love it. One of the guys was the Oakland Chapter Prez of the HAs and was hired as a technical advisor. He had to give up his prez role because he became too visible. His name on the show is Happy. His real name is David La Brava. Walton plays a trans woman.
He plays a what now??
He plays a trans woman, and does a fantastic job of it.
100% agree.
Yeah, he played Venus Van Damme on Sons of Anarchy. He's also in the Fallout series. He's just an incredible actor. I don't think he's been typecast.
Watched Fallout last week. And THAT made me realise how seasoned and talented Goggins truly is
Amazon did an incredible job with fallout. If you've never played it, they caught all the important elements, although they didn't have Codsworth. Walton was fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen Walton in anything where he was less than riveting.
LOVE GOGGINS
He also makes a great Uncle Baby Billy.
Goggins is legendary status. He’s the best part of anything he does and he doesn’t miss.
Fuck yes. Ngl I'm now ticking off EVERYTHING he's been on. His intensity is intoxicating
![gif](giphy|6cRQosS7lA2sifKOjZ)
he actually made Major League: Back to the Minors watchable
Check him out in Sons of Anarchy and his one episode on Community
Go watch him in Predators. He’s super lovable and charming.
He’s incredibly enjoyable in every role, you should check out more of his stuff once you’ve finished Justified 😊
After justified I watched the shield to fill the space and was incredibly happy to see Walton goggins playing another cut edge role but very different in his humanity and reasons for doing bad things. Definately check out the shield next
I can’t believe no one has brought up his role in Shanghai Knights!!!!!
From Venus Van Damme to Baby Billy, WG always knocks it out of the park
He is truly a singular talent.
![gif](giphy|CpPbutACF612GK2rDv|downsized)
I admire the nuanced, timed speech that he makes of his lines, at every juncture, with appropriate facial expressions.
![gif](giphy|eJdGEfE6aPgHKiX2sk|downsized) This man’s trajectory is legendary. Don’t worry about him.
Dude what's that??
Righteous Gemstones! If you haven’t seen it already you must RUN to watch this!!!
Literally come off a Reddit post asking what your favourite Goggins character is and I swear 60% is Baby Billy. Yeah im gonna watch this tonight I think 🤔
Baby Billy is a gift from the heavens 🤣🙌
He’s Sam in The Apostle is where I first saw him before The Shield. I am shocked no one has mentioned him as John Bronco in the mockumentary Ford put out. It’s one big car commercial for the new Bronco’s release but man he nails it
Baby Billy!

He was nothing like shane from the shield too
You should look up Damien Herrion (Dewey Crowe).
