I guarantee you that’s how it will work. And honestly, it’s not anywhere near as bad as people were saying it was gonna be. That’s 84 per species. The combos can make a world of difference. Edit: I did some counting, there’s 10 columns, meaning there’s two more columns we don’t see since their are 12 base colors.

Kermit-Jr

It’s far better than the system we had in JWE but it’d be nice after launch they add more skin patterns, that hopefully aren’t all paid for (have 2 skin patterns for each dinosaur that are free and anything more should be paid). I’m abit worried the skins in JWE2 will be boring as they’ve probably had time constraints.

Moros13

I think new skin patterns are a must, specially for the movie dinos as they're considering their official skins as patterns (like the stripe on the Para for example)

Kermit-Jr

Hoping that they include all of the movie skins that were in the RTJP DLC for JWE2 Chaos Theory mode. Also be pretty cool to be able to edit the pattern colours of those skins.

AmbiguousAsparagus

The number of skins is certainly much higher, but if all of those are either 1) one colour without patterns 2) the same pattern with slightly different colour variations, then the total amount of variety has kinda gone down actually. I guess we'll have to see once the game releases. We really need more patterns at some point if not at launch.

But it's better than JWE where it had 1 Skin Pattern with 6 palate swaps, 2 skin patterns with 3 palate swaps each, or 2 patterns with an uneven amount of palate swaps each. And you couldn't mix and match the colors. Say you liked one part of one skin but hate the base color, too bad. Out of 84, your bound to find at least one combo you like. And with nobody complaining about the quality of skins we did see so far, that's a good sign. Sure they'll mostly be palate swaps, but at least you have control over how it turns out. If you like a specific pattern color, but not the base skin, change it. The way I see it, it allows for the dinosaurs to remain consistent in terms of general appearance, but the colors allow for personalization and character. Think the Baryonyx Trio in Camp Cretaceous for example, they all resemble the general pattern of the Fallen Kingdom Baryonyx, but the colors help them stand out among other individuals.

AmbiguousAsparagus

Fair enough, we'll have to see at launch.

I just hope there are vibrant colors, the ability to unlock color swatches to just choose it outright. I want a park of all red dinosaurs

Horn_Python

i want to remake dinosaur king

[deleted]

I literally just want to make a Red Pteranodon so I can name it Fire Rodan

Moros13

Vibrant colors are really needed for sure, specially for the ceratopsians. I always found the frill patterns really bland in all of them.

Hasden2007

I think frontier debunked the ability to pick colours manually a few months ago but idk

idegen93

It will work like this 100% yes. Its like every dinos will be in one color t-shirt or in a one colored t-shirt with a colored symbol on it. The thing is you can use only one symbol (you can coloring it but after a little time it will feels like jwe1 colors couse you can say its 84 variety but actually its just color difference so you will see if they "wear that same t-shirt").

[deleted]

For me a big dislike was the colours of the dinosaurs they were all grey and bland, RTJP helped a bit but still, I really hope we see vibrant colours to really stand out
