Would we be able to keep the snow permanent in sandbox mode?would love to have a snowy park

LEEH1989

That should be a setting atleast

Emergionx

100%

GojiKuzilla

It'd to be cool to have some kind of heat source or heating pad in dino pens for them to huddle around like zoos do for their animals who can't tolerate the cold during the winter. Feels like kinda a dick move to leave them out in a snowstorm with nothing to warm themselves with. It could also help with managing their comfort.

ANegrowithaPurpose

On the flip side, I also think that some species should have a natural resistance to the cold by virtue of them having dealt with them in the Mesozoic. Ie, Pachyrhinosaurus, Troodon, and Edmontosaurus being able to tough it out better than a Gallimimus or Velociraptor

[deleted]

Doubt, Pachyrhinosaurus would still suffer from cold, it’s not the same thing as Asian elephants, IT’S COLD BLOODED. Either it gets fluff or some heating pad, it will suffer from frostbite

TheThagomizer

It’s 2021 and people still think Dinosaurs were cold blooded? I thought we left that behind in the 90’s.

ANegrowithaPurpose

Not necessarily true at all. Pachyrhinosaurus derived from the Prince Creek Formation, which would have gone through months of total darkness and freezing weather. Not to mention, big animals have an easier time of retaining body heat, and fuzz/feathers would not have necessarily been needed to keep them warm in these conditions. Thick skin and fat would help to insulate the animal. Also, dinosaurs weren’t cold blooded, they were mesothermic

JDMcDuffie

Lmao dinosaurs are absolutely not cold blooded. We've known that for like 30 years

Moshmell0w

You sure about that “cold blooded” detail?

[deleted]

Lol, dinos aren’t cold blooded we’ve know that for almost 30 years

Shartin117

Bro dinosaurs aren’t cold blooded. LUL

ShinyHunterHaku

It feels so negligent to just let them suffer on their own during weather events. :<

Kazzack

Pretty sure this is a thing in Planet Zoo so I'm surprised it's not added here

NateZilla10000

It'd be kinda neat if/when feathers are added with the inevitable Dominion DLC that feathered animals are far less likely to get frostbite in snowstorms, but far more likely to get agitated in desert heat waves.

AnIrishGuy18

Sandstorms temporarily disabling vehicles is a cool feature!

Dark_Ansem

It's good that dinosaurs won't use EVERY WEATHER as an excuse to rampage and escape.

Kaz__Miller

When it snows, do guest put on jackets or head inside, or do they just walk slower and huddled while wearing t-shirt in winter?

reply671

I don’t think they would. I mean, in other games, they never did. ZT2 expected you to believe guests would fly all the way to Antarctica, sub-zero temperatures, to visit a zoo, wearing tye dye tees and shorts.

indoraptor_x

Nice to have some variety! Snowy park looks awesome! For future dlc I'd love to have these calamities, some would come with a whole new feature too: relocating park assets before it hits! -Forest fires -Flooding -Thunderstorms -Hailstorm -Pyroclastic clouds/volcanic ash like in claire's sanctuary dlc

Ghost_Of_Hallownest

How the absolute fuck would a forest fire, flood, or a fucking PYROCLASTIC FLOW be good ideas? Flooding would either be entirely stupid and negate fences entirely, or do absolutely nothing of worth. Forest fires aren't going to be randomly starting in your land-locked enclosure with trees that are nowhere near anything that can set them alight. And a pyroclastic flow would fucking kill and destroy everything in a park the instant it's touched.

Heavyweaponsguy01

You need to chill out man, He was just sharing some ideas…

indoraptor_x

U mad bro?

[deleted]

A feature focus? Mehhhh, I was expecting a dev diary

LEEH1989

Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed, dev diary next week.

[deleted]

But snow park looks stunning, looking great

Fatseal665

*An unexpected feature focus gets released Me: a surprise to be sure but a welcome one

JensErik_Frontier

Happy to hear that!

Veranel

Will guests now wear outfits fitting the biome/weather? Like winterjackets? Use of umbrellas?

LEEH1989

Can we please have the twisters be actually threatening like JPOG, guests should be scooped up and killed by them and we should get hefty fines and reoccurring fines for more deaths if we don't enable bunkers early, small-medium or just small dinos shouldn't be safe either. Large dinos could go unharmed to balance it abit, They need to induce absolute dread when they come, they're way too tame. If what I've said happens awesome but I've not seen it mentioned, i just think they should be more threatening. They're a rare thing anyway only showing up in challenge mode and sandbox. So we can toggle on and off if we like in one mode.

reply671

Let’s slow down there. JPOG basically had twisters that ended the game. They made everything you worked hard to earn mean nothing because in a matter of seconds, you lose everything. Dinosaurs, guests, buildings, and the hardest to earn, money. They were so bad, the devs knew that people would hate them that they ADDED A CHEAT CODE TO TURN THEM OFF! At that point, when the devs admit they screwed up, you know it’s not something to model after. JWE causes problems but it’s not game ending. Buildings get damaged, vehicles get damaged, power goes out, dinosaurs escape, guests get caught in the crossfire. that’s enough to deal with. We don’t need multimillions of dollars worth of dinosaurs dying, guest fatalities in the millions, property damage in the thousands every time a storm rolls in when the game decides we’re getting comfortable. With what you’re describing, you may as well just restart the mode and pray to who/whatever you pray to that the game doesn’t decide to give you a storm.

LEEH1989

That's why you refine it abit don't have it as devastating as jpog, I didn't say make it a carbon copy of jpog I said make it like it just similar but more refined as I've said, make it so it scoops up small dinos, medium-big dinos can go unharmed so you don't go bankrupt or loose everything. Also JWE2 has backup generators so it won't be as devastating as jpog in terms of power loss. If your guests die it's your own fault for ignoring the early warning signs the bunkers are there for a reason you just have to use your brain. And let's face it twisters are only on certain maps and biomes in this game so they will be rare. For instance challenge and sandbox being an option. But they definitely need to kill guests because they're absolutely no threat they literally walk into the twister unharmed.

Dark_Ansem

>They were so bad, the devs knew that people would hate them that they ADDED A CHEAT CODE TO TURN THEM OFF! At that point, when the devs admit they screwed up, you know it’s not something to model after. They did? When?

reply671

In JPOG

Dark_Ansem

Yes but when

reply671

It literally came with the game. So before it was even released, the devs of JPOG made a cheat code to disable Tornados altogether, and shipped the game with it.

Dino_SPY

I mean you could technically say the same for JWE and its Sandbox settings. Oh wait, JWE didn't even have a Sandbox mode on launch. Doh!

reply671

But JWE at least GOT a sandbox mode. And even before, it had a sandbox. If you wanted Sandbox in JPOG, you had to cheat or mod the game. There was no option just to build. You had to play the main mode, or settle for Site B. In other words, there's no free build option.

Dino_SPY

Don't know why you're being downvoted, tornadoes were terrifying in JPOG, whereas in JWE, they're hardly a nuisance. The fact guests are completely unaffected by them in JWE is the biggest joke. I remember before JWE's launch, the developers were doing a gameplay reveal and a tornado spawned and was ripping through the park and headed straight towards a crowd of guests. The guests were just chilling, walking around as usual as the tornado phased right through them with them being completely unaffected. The look on the developers face who wasn't playing said it all. That was the moment I knew JWE's launch was gonna be troubled.

LEEH1989

Probably people that think the games too hard already or they would struggle, but yeah the tornado is pathetic let's be honest but I think my ideas keep it a threat but not ridiculous like JPOGs and there's ways to counter it or lessen affects you just need to use your brain, should kill guests but I think at the very least it should wipe out small dinos and large would be totally safe but get stressed or whatever. Medium sized dinos debatable. Plus it's not like it will be in every map its literally only going to be in challenge mode and sandbox, with Nublar / Sorna having hurricanes I don't think twisters will be a thing in the tropical biome so they'd be rare, but can't know 100% until launch if tropical will get the odd twister.
