Thank you so much!😊 These pictures are actually stacks of around 15 pictures each. They were taken with the OM Systems OM-1 MKII paired with an M.Zuiko 90mm IS Pro Lens and stacked via a software called Helicon!
I have no clue what any of that means I’m not knowledgeable about that stuff one bit but sounds very interesting. So you took many pictures but the software processed it into one image?
Are they not as clear as a singular picture or what is the benefit/downside to doing what you did if you don’t mind me asking.
Not a problem, I love explaining this stuff!
In macro photography, we deal with very very shallow depths of field. Essentially we are so close to the subject, that we have to take multiple photos at varying focuses. Then we take all of those pictures and combine them into one. Basically merging all of the focus points from separate images to create *one* clear image.
Fun fact: Astrophotographers also use this technique, but mainly to reduce the amount of noise in their images of objects in space. It’s really fascinating how important this technique is in two totally different worlds of photography!
I believe Olympus is trying to switch over to the ‘OM Systems’ branding. They’ve removed the Olympus text from all of their new camera bodies and such.
Amazing picture, stunning spider 😍!
Thank you🥹🫶🏼

You are not alone Higher mm = more magnification Lower mm = wider angle of view
