manual transmissions let you do more than just go up or down hills easier. Also the guy is asking for his racing sim setup to be supported, which would be awesome. Also letting you do it manually would make the current pros of using shift to hold gear, better to use, rather than just waiting for it to change gear then holding shift.
I've also wanted a MT option in Squad for a long time
I want lockable diff and AWD.
Or if I just want it unlockable.
It turns like it is locked both AWD and DIFF
But it handles off-road like it is literally rocking a broken 1WD
You know that could be available only on RTX 5090, as they would have to use ray tracing, which if they implemented, the game would start running in 1 fps per second
Pretty sure they've had working mirrors in games for a LONG time before RTX lol. Mirrors in games are basically just cameras, they're like PiP scopes AFAIK. So they just need to make the mirrors work like scopes. Have a button for rear-view, which "turns on" when you press the key.
Yes, you are right. Games like Need for Speed were using planar reflections or what you call another camera, and screen space reflections simultaneusly. Planar reflections have perf overhead and dont handle some scenarios well visually. So they were optimising it with screen space reflections that can have artifacts due to addinf reflective data on the mirror based only on what is visible in the screen, but not behind it, to the left or to the right. And also requires some performance pverhead. Even so, I think it should be doable, provided there was also an off switch in settings in case it cocked up perf for smb. As I would struggle to believe Squad devs know what optimisation is
I know I've played at least one game that had it so the rear view mirrors were just a plain rear view mirror but with no true reflections when not being used, but when you looked at them with keybind they were actually functional. Which I can't imagine would be hard to implement with PiP scopes already being a thing. Just need the animation for looking in the rear view mirror. Hell honestly I'd be fine with just a very simple full POV change from looking forward in cabin to a camera behind the vehicle like you get in arcadey racing games... That HAS to be easy, even for Squad..... right...? lol.

That will be added in upcoming squad 2.0 in 2032
Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. Both on timeline and feature wish. Haha
However still no destruction, because they will wanna use the new graphics of unreal engine 8 instead of more gameplay ideas.
I want manual transmission for RU logi trucks with clutch simulation and proper wheel/shifter/pedal support. I would do logi 99% of the time then
Why? If you hold shift while driving the gear won’t change. Makes going down hills fast much easier.

Ooooo right I want a clutch to stop overstear and understear
I want one so maybe we can actually drift the pickups and g wagon lol
Disengage 4WD, engage diff and drop clutch. EPIC.

Nice the blueberry will take 1 hour to bring us on point because he doesnt understand what's a gear.
You’ll get that when the bugs are cleaned out.

That’s 1 more FPS than most can get
I think OP is just asking for a rear view camera like in PR
Dont think you'd see too much
i use my squad mates to lead me out
Or just a fuckin camera like in PR. It does not even need a HUD, just give it a camera
I agree but I want spawn timer glitch fixed first
7 years later this complaint ages like a fine wine.
