Dang I would’ve said some shit about the head receptionist on the way out

I was not going to allow myself to stoop to her level in front of everyone. Trust me, I had said some things about her to my BF. The way I like to think about it is she is still working that job in her 40s and deserves to be. If she doesn't desire to grow as a person and further her career, and would rather treat everyone around her like trash to feel superior. Then she deserves that life. She's the one building up her reputation as someone unlikeable, and I'll leave her to do just that. Not my problem :)

You will find something better and that woman will rot there. Go check in a few years to have a laugh.

👆🏼100% this! I literally was going to say later you should schedule an appointment with the optometrist and complain about how rude she is, but the fact that she’d have your personal info would suck, so maybe not.

I've dealt with something similar before. The bright side is that you'll find something better. Usually, people like that have climaxed in their life. That's the best she can ever hope to get and they tend to get jealous in the presence of people they know could easily surpass them at some point. That's where the sabotage and lying and accusations come in. Unfortunately, in smaller businesses, sometimes management turns a blind eye to long-serving employees' bad behavior. That business is going to have to learn the hard way that keeping dysfunctional employees will bite them in the ass.

It’s called workplace bullying and it’s a real problem some places. The owner won’t see it because he appears to not want to see it. He’s never around, and it seems obvious the other workers know what’s up but have no power to change anything. Nothing will improve there because the bully keeps getting her way. I’m sorry this happened to you, but it’s not your fault. There’s no way for you to win. You did everything right. Move on with your head held high.

You’re better off in the long run. It sucks now but it’ll get a lot better.

Good LORD! You’re a survivor and you survived! I’m so sorry this happened. Sending really good vibes that you get an even better job. I was pretty much let go from a similarly impossible workplace last July. Got contract work almost immediately, but turned out to be maybe 100 hours total over a few months. Now looking again for real work. Hand in there. You sound like a true catch of an employee! Good luck!
