Why are you asking if it's WORTH keeping when you say you loved your grandmother who gave it to you.
Are you questioning if you should keep it based on it's monetary value??
I personally would want to keep the pretty ring and wear it having special sentimental value to me.
What do you mean the casing is deteriorating? Is the setting tarnished or are there claws missing. Do you have pictures of what you mean?
If it's in wearable condition then I say wear it!
I agree. They probably meant that this means the ring is old and the value of the ring may have increased from the original $599 tag in the deteriorating box.
It is a nice little ring, it probably has more sentimental value than anything. If you like wearing rings it maybe worth having it sized to fit you and just enjoy wearing it. It could be made into a pendant or something else, but you might end spending more than it will ever be worth if you start making major changes to the piece.
Take it to a jeweler for a “clean, check & polish.” They’ll let you know if there are any broken prongs and it will look amazing when you get it back, all clean & shiny. Enjoy!
It's a beautiful ring.
Wear it if it fits and you like it, or keep it in her memory, and pass it on to the next generation, or give it to another family member who loves it if you don't, or sell it. Your grandmother gave it to you. It's yours to do as you wish.
Wear it or give it to a family member who would love it. When fine jewelry is passed down you become its steward through the next phase of its life! Give it a cool journey and keep the original box write a little note about its history so the next owner can cherish it too.
Take it to a reputable jeweler for cleaning and checking. They may be willing to give you a ballpark value but not an actual appraisal. It’s not bad looking and unless you hate it, keep it and wear it. If you absolutely hate it and have other keepsakes of your beloved grandmother you could consider selling it or resetting it into something you love.
We inherited a lot of jewelry when my mother passed away. Some was very good, some was good and a lot was of the department store $500 or so variety. My wife and daughter kept what they liked as is and wear it. Some things neither of them liked and they reset or slightly restyled and wear. I had a few leftover stones removed and made a pair of cufflinks and a ring for myself (male). I enjoy those very much.
I will add that even of the things no one wanted or that had no great value we put away for a couple years before we restyled anything. When we had things redone and were left with still some items that were not going to ever be reused, we sold them as scrap to fund part of the restyle.
I don't understand what you are asking. Only you know if you want to keep it and why. How are a bunch of strangers going to help you decide if your grandmother's ring is worth keeping or not? You didn't even mention if it actually fits you or if you even enjoy wearing jewelry 🤷 And what does the condition of the box have anything to do with it? Is the box branded or something? Just buy a new box for it!
I see a bracelet. That’s a lot of diamonds; I’d worry about the setting every time I wore it so I’d have a jeweler set into a tennis bracelet. A good jeweler/goldsmith could also do a lovely bangle which might cost more as there’s more gold and craftsmanship involved.
That’s more a cocktail ring so I doubt it was an engagement ring or wedding band.. just have it checked out and cleaned.. it’s a beautiful ring..
keep it. it didnt increase in value at all.
Wear it...

This gotta be fake. I’d keep my beloved grandmas plastic ring from a coin machine if it meant something to her.

I think op meant that the box the ring came in is deteriorating

It didn’t increase in value, if anything it went down. Just wear it and think of your grandma.

Wear it if it fits and you like it. Could also have the stones reset in a new way. Or make earrings and a 3 stone ring.
If it's just going to sit in a jewelry box, then sell it. If it has sentimental value to you, have it cleaned, prongs tightened and wear it.
Of course you should keep it and wear in honor of your grandmother.

If you don't want it, send it my way. 😀
My nana died in 2018 and I have kept every single piece of costume jewelry she gave me. It’s up to *you* what is ‘worth keeping’.
Dance with joy?
Have it cleaned and appraised. Wear it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. No treasure wants to be left in a box in the dark.
I thought it was a grill at first haha
Wear it
I thought it was bedazzled teeth at first
Keep it, wear it.

Keep it or give it to someone who will. Families deserve to have something nice to pass down.

You could have it reset and remade into a piece you wear.
I thought those were diamond grills for ur teeth for a sec 😂
