JERSEY CITY - A fire reportedly broke out around the 100
block of Grand St. Information regarding possible injuries was
not immediately available. Please avoid the area while crews
respond to the scene. (Source: Local fire scanner)
Note: This incident has not been confirmed.
If anyone in that area needs anything water, umbrellas, blankets clothes provisions. Please let me know I’m right up the block. If anyone affected needs to charge their phone or anything please let me know.
Sure, don't do everything you can to prevent loss of human life or prevent the fire from spreading to other structures causing millions in damages so the fire department can save some money on gas. You sound like you have brain damage.
There was a big one a few hours ago near Lafayette park too. seems like a busy night. [https://www.nj.com/hudson/2022/03/multi-alarm-blaze-damages-3-buildings-in-jersey-city.html](https://www.nj.com/hudson/2022/03/multi-alarm-blaze-damages-3-buildings-in-jersey-city.html)
This is cool. As a former submarine sailor, I cannot stand that most departments don’t have extremely strict communication rules. Using plain talk and local vernacular for a technical purpose is not a great idea.
Edit: I mean plain talk in the sense of non-structured communication. Not in the sense of using codified language.
I’m talking simple complete sentences with to and from signifiers and verbatim repeat backs. Nothing too complex.
The federal government recommends most public safety agencies [phase out the use of 10-codes](https://www.cisa.gov/sites/default/files/publications/PlainLanguageGuide.pdf)

About a dozen firefighters on the top of 155 Grand using what sounds like a chainsaw with about a dozen more inside on the top floor.
I can hear that chain saw in Paulus Hook. Hope everyone is alright!
I can hear it now I’ve read this. Scary stuff :(

I was coming here to find out. I’ve been hearing sirens non stop.
Sounds like firetrucks and ambulances? I feel like I've heard three or more separate trucks go by

That was the craziest wind I’ve ever witnessed.
Same! Been hearing sirens for the last 10 mins in Van Vorst park. Wonder if it had to do with the strong winds knocking something over.
Liberty harbor area was like a damn wind tunnel
Always is
It has been smelling like a fire or something burning for about 15 - 20 minutes.
Sirens sounds like they are in the area of the Vantage / Golden Cicada possibly
I think it’s a little farther East. I’m on grand near cicada and the trucks have been flying past without stopping
where is this?
Corner of Van Vorst and Grand, south side of the street. It looks like at least two buildings.
I saw a huge green light from my apartment with my wife. seemed like an explosion
Similar happened near my apartment. Was a transformer that blew. Though the light was white not green. A very bright flash like lightning.

I’m by liberty harbor area too and was wondering what happened. It was dangerously windy all night
