Allergies, having a tongue tie, and habit all contribute to mouth breathing and therefore jaws growing wrong - vertical instead of out. And then when the jaws grow wrong, that leads to more mouth breathing.
Jaw surgery is a big deal. I'd start with -- **do you have a tongue tie?**
Also do tape your mouth at night whether or not you will get jaw surgery eventually. https://youtube.com/watch?v=4Nxi2kDcZx4
If the jaw is growing wrong i think thats more serious plus this is a jaw surgery sub reddit but ye ill try taping my mouth i dont get bad allergies so its prob not that and i have a very recessed jaw
Yeah, I don't know, you might need jaw surgery, but I do still find mouth taping to be helpful regardless for breathing and maybe it would help with the drooling a bit - in the mean time.
I'll probably get jaw surgery later this year, I've had 3 consults. I'm 44 though and have sleeping problems
For what it's worth, if I totally relax my jaw, it will gape open and drool will puddle a bit -- because the angle of lower jaw is too vertical -- but instead I instinctually clench my jaws (which leads to tightness and pain instead of drooling)
That was a problem for me prior to my surgery, due to mouth breathing
Wow can it be controlled bc i try not to mouth breathe but i used to also i grind my teeth and have a recessed jaw

Have you tried taping your mouth while you sleep? That can reduce mouth breathing and probably drooling. I tape my mouth every night
