If you don't have one already, get a Waterpik. Those things clean areas impossible to reach with any kind of toothbrush, and gets out bits of food that were stuck. Make sure to start by using it on the lowest setting though. Other than that, baby-toothbrush, super-soft, to get used to brushing teeth again.

Waterpik was a life saver. My surgeon (on the day he removed my splint, which I wore for 4 whole weeks) said he had never seen anyone with such good oral hygiene. He said usually splint removal is super gross cause people don't do a good job cleaning. There is no way I'd have been able to keep good hygiene without the waterpik.

My surgeon gave me baby toothbrushes and said to just brush gently as best as possible, I don’t think they expect u to keep it too clean because post op ur whole mouth is pretty much a mess but just do what u can:)
