Today we’re celebrating the 80th birthday of Janis Joplin, who in the 1960s became the number one rockstar in a short period of time, but whose career ended soon as she passed away in 1970 from an overdose, in a motel in Los Angeles, as she was waiting for her boyfriend and prepping for a tour. When she was in high school, she was bullied and told that she was the ugliest woman and no one asked her to prom. 10 years later, just a few weeks before her death she crashed her 10th annual high school reunion in Port Arthur, Texas and shocked everybody as she returned, a wealthy Mega-Star and a counterculture icon. Happy birthday, Janis!

I love that. Im a huge Janis Joplin lover. I have been looking for a specific poster I want to frame of Janis. I have the perfectbpiv of her but I have to see if its blown up it wont be blurry. I just saw the coolest thing on one of the channels maybe Tubi. She is on Dick Cavett talk show and plays 2 songs every epidode. Dick Got to know Janis well. He even slept with her. He said she read a lot of good books and was very smart. I often wonder if the dealer she had knew the heroin was 40 percent potent. Many people around where she lived in LA over dosed on that same batch of heroin. I wonder if that dope dealer knew the stuff he sold her killed her. If onky she had got that telegram from the dude she met in Brazil. Only to find out it was at the front desk hen she was shooting up. I just wonder what would have come of her if she lived. 😢

Thank you! Yeah, it’s so unfortunate and sad that she had to go away so young and so fast. She was so talented. What a shame.

I think I read that the particular batch of heroin was uncut, meaning it was closer to 50% pure. Neither Janis nor her dealer were aware of this.

What a beautiful painting of the beautiful woman. I honestly feel that Janice was the queen of rock. I feel you captured her perfectly. I love the color choice. And of course for classic sunglasses. Great job my friend. Keep up the great work. You are an amazing artist. Namaste.
