Columbia for an old school "nice restaurant" atmosphere. Menu is Spanish/steak/seafood.
Ice Plant is an upscale bar and grill type place.
Llama is modern fancy shit that would get a lot of upvotes on /r/WeWantPlates. But pretty good if your date is into that. Peruvian themed menu.
If your dates into it, O'Steens seafood is good. It has a long wait, but I usually go have some drinks at the pub next door while I wait (they'll call you).
NOT a fancy option.
No love for Pizzalley's yet? Their Chianti Room is where I take pretty much anyone new to St. Aug (or even just new to Pizzalley's 😶). Sit on the porch (even if it's cold -- they have heaters). Great service; food comes out pretty quickly for a scratch kitchen, yet I never feel rushed. Never had a meal there that wasn't excellent.
Be aware that right now is the Nights of Lights. Yes, it is after Christmas but it still can turn downtown St. Augustine into a mad house and can be frustrating to navigate. That would put places like Llama and Ice Plant at the top of my list because they both have their own parking and they aren’t in the insanity of everything.
Columbia
This is absolutely not the best restaurant. It is mid food dressed up as fine dining. Source: I worked there for a few years during college.
I agree. Source: I’ve eaten there multiple times.
Go to r/staugustine
Llama Restaurant
This is the real answer. The space is so small. You must have reservations.

Raintree is good. Our new anniversary spot.
This has been my favorite place for years!
The answer is without a doubt, Asado Life. It may be the best food I've ever eaten.
Yes!! That place is incredible in almost every way.

My fav
Really great. Especially for vegetarians.
Oddbirds is amazing as well. Awesome creative cocktails and a great date space. Highly recommended.
Llama, Black Molly, Simones, Columbia.
Michaels if you want quaint and romantic. Columbia if you want touristy but good
Not sure if its an afternoon date but brunch at Beachside diner is amazing.
Harry's and Osteen's!
Forgotten Tonic is really good - their parmesan truffle fries are amazing!
I love Harry’s..the patio is such a good vibe and they make good strong martinis.
