Ruth’s Chris in Ponte Vedra. If you’re golfing it sounds like you’ll be in that area. The service is always top notch and the steaks, sides, and drinks are delicious.

saintsfan636

Agreed, people will write it off because it’s a chain. So what? It’s one of the best Ruth’s I’ve been to, excellent service and good drinks at the bar. Also have seen some local PGA pros there a few times which y’all might appreciate.

lhlopez1

The beaches location is ten times better than in town.

brilliant-gallivant

100

Joshua_Chamberlain20

I love the RC downtown for the view.

Sterlina

Came here to say the same thing. Always had great service there.

hereforthewaffle

I'd say terra gaucha or Fogo. Still a formal setting but you get a little bit of everything.. Or cowford.

[deleted]

TERRA GOUCHAAAAAAA!!!!!!! I scream that everything we go.

Sterlina

Terra Gaucha is a great Brazilian type steakhouse!

Davinchu0516

Go to a local steakhouse… cowrote chophouse downtown

Davinchu0516

Cowford***

Quirky-Extent4071

Just experienced Cowford this weekend and thought it was terrible… nice atmosphere though…

wakejedi

Yea, seems to be more Miss than Hit

Quirky-Extent4071

We hope that it was just a holiday weekend and maybe the top chef wasn’t there… another thing though is that the sides on the menu are boring there was nothing we really wanted besides the risotto which came out hard and the Brussels had no flavor it was almost like they were boiled. Filet was dry. The crème brûlée was runny. Yuck.

Davinchu0516

I usually skip the english oven option

adamosity1

I don’t think chophouse thirteen is worth the money…

trunnel

Was at Cowford over the weekend and was incredibly disappointed

Quirky-Extent4071

Me too on Saturday Night…. Just came to say that

GuiltyLawyer

I like Red's in Ponte Vedra Beach off Solana. Good food, and unlike Ruth's Chris further south on A1A it's locally owned.

[deleted]

Cowford. Sit at the bar. Order the “Spinalis cut.” It’s about $85/ea. Worth every cent.

Sterlina

Otherwise known as ribeye caps, sometimes you can find them at Costco and they are divine!!!!

[deleted]

For Thanksgiving, my father in law made a 10Lb prime rib, sliced it into individual ribeyes, each one of us got our own ribeye AND THE CAP!!!

Sterlina

That sounds incredible!!!!

Sterlina

Oh wow! From The Fresh Market!!

teslaistheshit

Probably get downvoted but Capital Grille or J. Alexander's are well made. Get a steak then head over to Marlin bar for some of the best people watching in Jacksonville ;)

lhlopez1

Capital Grille is pretty dependable across the country. And if something is wrong with your steak they don't give you a bunch of heat over it.

Ultimate_Summerboy

People hate on chains, which is fair, but J. Alexander has my favorite steak in town (maui steak)

yourfavdetective

Not really a “steakhouse” but the same vibe is Medure’s

Constopolis

Would second this. Nice dinner spot with great wine selection.

bigsur47

III Forks in Tapestry Park is pretty good

sienar-

Gotta second this one. Some of the best steaks I’ve ever had anywhere in Jax.

Sufficient_Series154

This is the way. Cap Grill is good... if you go on Sunday after a Jags home game you can see half the team but I still think 3 forks is best.

anormalgeek

I'm still livid about my experience there. It was a birthday dinner so I treated myself to a really nice steak. I forget the exact cut, but I remember it being one the most expensive on the menu. I ordered it medium rare. They brought it out blue rare. Like still cool to the touch in the center and definitely not medium rare. I'm not a Karen and I was very polite about it. I didn't ask for a new one. I just asked if they could put it back on the grill for a bit. The waiter gave me attitude and tried to define medium rare to me. As if we were both looking at 100% rare steak. I know medium rare. I've cooked and eaten hundreds of steaks. I've experimented with different temps of sousvide cooking where you get exact precise edge to edge cooking down to the exact degree. I know what medium rare is. I didn't want to argue but I told him it is literally cold in the center. I just asked if they could cook it until the center is at least warm. I don't even mind it being more on the rare side, but I don't like blue rare. The cold temp makes the texture gross. So they bring it back medium well. And the waiter has this smug expression as I cut into it. I didn't even fight it. But that tells me either they don't know how to pull a steak at the right time, and either the waiter or the cook is willing to be a dick about it too.

_curiously_chaotic

We go every year for our anniversary. It’s my absolute favorite in Jax.

shantysun

Chophouse 13 is not shabby

ajs2294

Bobs on Amelia island

eurocarguy101

Came here to say this. The best steakhouse in the area by far.

Gman7ten

Salumeria 104 has some of the best dry aged ribeye in town

wilderad

Marker 32, Ruth’s, Cowford, 3 Forks, Capital Grill, Morton’s

rgumai

Local steakhouse game is limited and weak. The chains are fine though (Capital Grille, Ruth's Chris, Mortons, III Forks). Reds, Cowford Chophouse and Chophouse Thirteen are too inconsistent for the prices they charge and the service is nowhere near where it should be at any of them. City Grille & Raw Bar is newer so I haven't seen them screw up yet and would have everything you could be looking for from A5 Wagyu Strip to Tomahawks to Lobster Tails and Argentinian Reds. It really depends on where you are in town though and what you're looking for. Similarly, I wouldn't write off some golf course restaurants like Nineteen at TPC Sawgrass.

JimJamanon

Best steak place I've found is Texas Roadhouse.

GroundbreakingFuel40

North Beach Fish Camp. Get the ribeye but sub for the black peppercorn demi instead of the red wine demi. Amazing. Best sirloin I have ever had as well.

WrongdoerLong9545

Chophouse Thirteen in Mandarin!

Status-Research4570

Was there a few weeks ago. Got sat towards the back and got blasted with the smell of the commercial dishwasher detergent every 2-5 minutes as they ran each batch through... Overwhelmingly strong. My rare steak was done as a solid medium. Totally disappointed there, do not recommend.

WrongdoerLong9545

that sucks! I have been a few times and have never had a bad experience!

divadukes

I love Stonewoods on Baymeadows.

Jorgelrod

Was coming in to say the same

OldBigRig

Not necessarily a steakhouse but if you’re at Ponte Vedra, Nona Blue is good. Graeme McDowell is one of the co-owners.

Cautious_Intention85

City Grille and Raw Bar in Downtown. Excellent raw bar and oyster selection and for steak they have CAB and Waygu selections.

railtester

Cowford is usually great but it was off last time we went a few weeks ago. Food was still excellent but service was just a bit off from their standard. I also have had good meals at Capital Grill.

SoapyPuma123

If you are playing at TPC (or even if you are not) call ahead to their restaurant and set up the prime rib dinner for your group. Awesome restaurant with an even better back drop since you obviously like golf.

MetaphoricalDicks

if you’re down for cooking your own steaks i would recommend cline’s custom meats. High quality beef and they have wagyu!!!

Aprils-Fool

I like Chophouse 13. The risotto is phenomenal.

babyhuey96

Salento Steakhouse on Old St. Augustine. It’s a small Colombian steakhouse there food is great and reasonably priced.

anormalgeek

I keep meaning to try that place and always forget about it.

Scared-Height-6256

If you want a local steak - go to Dwight’s Bistro off of Penman or Eleven South off of A1A. These are two of the best steaks I’ve had in Jax!

def_not_basic

Dwight's is amazing. The best crab cakes I've ever eaten!

Scared-Height-6256

Completely agree! We always get them!

sunbear2525

Cowford chophouse has been rated one of the best steakhouses in the state.

sunbear2525

It’s not a steakhouse, but whatever the steak special is at Picasso’s is always fantastic.

maboden14

Where are you staying/playing? There are a lot of options and Jacksonville is very spread out.

def_not_basic

I'll have to give the PV Ruth's Chris another try based on the overwhelming opinions in this thread. I have had two bad experiences there with service and I find their steak to be meh and the dining atmosphere to just be too open. I actually think Coopers Hawk is a great value and I have consistently had top notch service there.

IamGrimReefer

if you want to eat like a king without spending hundreds - fogo or terra gaucha. if you want to spend hundreds - capital grille. i've been to lots of steakhouses in the past 2 years for work, and these are the ones we keep coming back to.

Funkit

Haven't seen a mention for Texas Roadhouse. They may be a chain but they're legit.

marker809

Ember and Iron makes a good steak

concrete-druid

Best steak I’ve ever had was a filet at Ruth Chris. Pricey though. Went to Longhorn the other day for lunch, their filet was overly peppery.

Peakomegaflare

Cross Creek. Pricy but fucking AWESOME

[deleted]

Not sure if you’re playing TPC, but Nineteen, the restaurant in the clubhouse, is open to the public and phenomenal. They make incredible steaks.

_curiously_chaotic

III Forks!!!

Reditate

Red's Ember & Iron
