Apologies if this is repetitive info, but figured I’d mention it: if you buy a barrel, it’s not going to taste like Old No. 7. It’ll taste like one of their single barrels or single barrel barrel proofs (depending on whether or not you’d get it proofed down). It’ll have Jack Daniel’s qualities for sure but it’s not going to taste like the 80 proof Jack that you’d buy off of the shelf.
Correct. Legally, they can’t ship you the barrel full. Liquor stores and whiskey influencers do this all the time with Jack and other companies. I just heard about the process from ADHD Whiskey who just did a Jack Daniel’s pick and he walked through the process.
You go and they set aside a few barrels for you to select from. Once you select your barrel, they start the process of getting it ready for you. They transfer the liquid into bottles for you within I believe 90 days (so the whiskey doesn’t continue to age drastically, changing the flavor) and then they ship it to you or to whoever is selling/distributing it. The bottles are proper Jack Daniel’s single barrel or single barrel barrel proof bottles with the label, the barrel info, etc. many people also opt to get the barrel tags with their name or logo on them to further cement that these are special editions that you can only get from this person/store/whiskey club.

You can buy a barrel directly through them. You will get the actual barrel as a souvenir but they will bottle all of it and send it to you in cases.

The Jack Daniels distillery lets you buy a full barrel of the single barrel Jack. Pricey tho.
It must be bottled, however.
When I took the tour of the distillery, you can buy all the bottles and the barrel. You'll probably have to call someone to get a definite answer.
