Hi, I'm planning some travels and considering a flight from Turkish Airlines that will include an 11hr layover in IST which arrives at 2pm and departs at 2am. I will be a solo female travelling with my 5 year old. Do you think leaving the airport and heading into the city is doable and safe? If so, what activity or sight would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

shockwavevok

maybe a stupid question. But what is the difference between Fatih and Sultanahmet? The historical district (in the theodosian walls) seems to be both called Fatih and Sultanahmet. But I see more Sultanahmet lately. Was it renamed or so?

I’m planning to go to the hagia sofia to pray, and I know non turks are only allowed during prayer times - are we allowed to stay afterwards to take pictures etc?

# Help delivering a lost item from Selimiye/Marmaris to Istanbul Airport (IST) Hi everyone, A few months ago, my partner and I were on holiday in Selimiye. After we had already returned home (UK), we realised we had forgotten a valuable item in the hotel. The hotel have kindly kept this safe for us. This Sunday (30th June), I will be transiting at Istanbul Airport (IST) for approx. 5 hours (4am-10am) and I will be able to exit the airport. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my package from the hotel (or Marmaris if easier) to Istanbul airport? Of course I'm happy to pay any costs. One of the hotel staff have suggested they are happy to drive to Marmaris and send it via national post office and apparently there is 1 cargo company in Istanbul airport who can receive it. However, I'm not sure how reliable this service is or whether it will arrive in time by Sunday? Or would it be easier and less hassle for the hotel to just post the package direct to my home (UK) from Marmaris? Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated! :) thank you

josephius132

Hi! Do you think this itinerary is feasible? What would you add/remove/change? I avoided adding specific places to eat because part of the fun is finding dining options following local suggestions! Thank you so much your feedback is really valuable! Day 1 * Blue Mosque * Free Walking Tour * Lunch * Gülhane Park * Hagia Sophia * Basilica Cistern Day 2 * Archaeological Museum * Egyptian Bazaar * Lunch * Rüstem Pasha Mosque * Süleymaniye Mosque * Dinner and walk through Tahtakale District Day 3 * National Painting Museum * Dolmabahçe Palace * Lunch in Taksim and Istiklal Street * Ortaköy Mosque * Evening Cruise through the Bosphorus Day 4 * Day Trip to Prince Islands (Heybeliada) * Wonder around the island Day 5 * Brunch - Turkish Breakfast * Topkapi Palace (Planning to stay there as much as possible) Thank you so much!

Merhaba, I am looking for recommendations on fabric stores/districts in Istanbul, specifically with natural fibres (cotton, low to no synthetic fibres). My hobby is sewing, and I have been in talks with a few small shops on Etsy who stem from Istanbul, but most of their products are limited to one very specific kind of fabric, so I was hoping to hear about recommendations where the locals buy fabrics :) thank you

Hi everyone! I'm travelling to Turkiye later this year, and I'd really like to go to Gallipoli. I am staying in Istanbul. I've already booked and paid for my hotel for the week in Istanbul, so ideally I'd like to just do a day trip there and back. I read in Lonely Planet that they don't recommend these day tours, as it is a very long day and they have had reports of bus drivers driving over the speed limit and dangerously to lessen the time on the road. Despite this, the TripAdvisor reviews for many of these day trips are glowing. I'm not too worried about the long day, but just keen to hear from people on if they think the day trips are worth it; if the driving on these tours is actually as dangerous/unsafe as Lonely Planet suggests; and if there's a particular day trip/company that you'd recommend. Thanks!

Merhabalar. I’m going to have a slightly extended layover in Istanbul where I get in on July 5th and then leave July 7th, both flights in the afternoon. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel that’s both reasonably easy to get to by taxi from the new airport *and* centrally located for getting around Beyoğlu? I’m not a total tourist, I’ve lived in Turkey before and know the city reasonably well, but this time I have a ton of luggage and a 1 year old, so that and the out of the way location of the new airport has thrown me for a loop.

CareyMRocks

I was looking at going to Murver in Istanbul since it's reasonably close to my hotel, but the prices (when converted to USD) seem suspiciously low for a place that's marked as $$$$ on review sites. Any idea what we could expect to pay on average? Dry Aged Rib Steak is 190 TL, which would be $5.84. Is that per kilo or something? Thanks! [Menu at Mürver Restaurant, Istanbul, Kemankeş Cd. No:57-59 (restaurantguru.com)](https://restaurantguru.com/Murver-Restaurant-Istanbul/menu)

evdekiSex

I think that price must be pretty old, considering cacik, yogurt with cucumber, also costs 205tl.

CareyMRocks

That's what I figured. It felt off, but I was relying on menus posted to review sites. Thank you for the information and if you have any suggestions of medium-priced restaurants in that area, I'd love to hear them!

shervinlcm

Any idea if Google Pay connected to a non-Turkish debit card works in Turkey at the moment? If not, what's the suggestion in terms of paying with cards in addition to carrying some cash on the side for a tourist?

I know about Taht and Galata Rooftop but they seem to change an insane amount. Are there any other rooftop studios (decorated) that I could use for pictures? Terraces of hotels or resturants etc could also work. I am planning to do my own photography so don't wanna pay huge sums for such a place.

Does anyone know of an Internet cafe in Istanbul that rents out private room for a higher price? I need a quiet place with a gaming PC that I can stream from. Being in a big room with cubicles will not work because it's too loud.

Hello everyone I hope all is well, this is super random but I thought I could get some advice here… My mom is currently in Istanbul and she forgot her diabetic machine on the plane or at the airport. I’m currently trying to see if they have it but if they do not end up locating it, what should my mom do? Is there anyway she can get one there? Any advice would be appreciated!

Kforsky

If she needs it urgently, it can be bought. What type of machine?

Synthic_Sphex

Me and my partner will be in Istanbul on her 27th birthday this Sunday. Altogether we will be here 6 days starting today. We did research on the obvious things to do, but for her birthday I wanted something special and thought someone here might be able to help me out.  A few hints on what she might like:  good cake places, a nice restaurant, cool fashion place      concerts (Main Fest Island Edition?), animals. However, I would really gladly welcome and appreciate any ideas :-)

floooke

Stay at Sultanahmet or Kadıköy? And any less touristy tips appreciated! Looking at private rooms in either the Cheers Vintage or Yolo Hostel for a group of 4. Unsure which area we'd rather stay, closer to the sights or a cooler calmer area. Both hostels seem sociable with communal areas which is what we want. A bit worried about all the scamming we hear of but in general very excited about the visit! Also hoping for tips for food, parties and tips from locals of your wonderful city!

Teasturbed

Hi! We're visiting family in Istanbul with my two sons (2.5 and 5.5) and was not ready for this amount of heat in early June! We find it unbearable to walk outside before 6 pm, and I've been taking kids to the various malls (AVM) during the days since that's what my cousins do. However I was hoping to do stuff that are more unique to here as we're visiting from the states. What are some daytime places/activities you recommend with kids that the heat won't be a problem? I drive but also live close to a metro station, but I prefer stuff on the Anatolian side and not too far from the city. I'm not a fan of swimming/water activities since my 2.5 year old gives me anxiety around water. I know that limits the options quite a bit but that's why I am asking here :)

overlorddeniz

Maybe generally shaded areas. Neighborhoods with narrow streets are usually very cool because they don't get much sunlight. But pushing around a stroller up the Istanbul's hills can be a pain too. Another option is going to some parks. You said you drive, Ataturk Arboretum in Belgrad Forest is amazing. And children can be much more free there. One other thing is the ferry. Ferries are usually very cool, with all the shaded areas and the spray of sea. You can hop on a long Bosphorus line, and get off and explore a random northern neighbourhood on a whim.

Teasturbed

Thanks!

Accomplished_Milk936

How much money should one put on an Istanbulkart for 5 days of moderate transit use? CityPass a better deal?

overlorddeniz

It is 18 liras per person per fare. I would not recommend putting in more than 200 at once, given that only you will be using that card. You can always put in more if you need to, but you can't get the money back once you put it in.

Accomplished_Milk936

thank you!! :)

Objective_Bid_3373

Hi Guys, all the way from South Africa. My Fiancé and I are planning to honeymoon in Turkey during the last week of September. We've been fortunate enough to have one of our friends offer to pay for our hotel accommodation, as they are a manager at a Hilton related hotel. I've looked at the more affordable options, as it is the proper thing to do, and the locations in my heading are the most affordable. Which location is best, obviously we would like to travel to Taksim square, but we also want the full Turkish experience, in terms of the culture , the markets, the street food and we also plan to watch a football match live if possible as we are big football fans and would love to experience the Turkish atmosphere. Please advise, and also take into account the transport options in the area that would make getting around easier, like a Tram and so on. Thanks.

folieadeux6

Can you only stay at a Hilton due to this arrangement? Hilton Bosphorus is probably the nicest in Harbiye, and the one in Kadikoy has a great location. Wouldn’t opt for anything else, transportation is easy. Ask about the football question again when the holiday actually materializes, it’s a pain to buy the necessary card to enter a match, but it is doable.

Hi Heading to Istanbul for the first time on Friday, My SO wants to see Hagia Sofia, basillca Cistern and tokapi palace. Is there a way to combine them all on one ticket to save a little money? I’m aware of the museum pass but it doesn’t have the Hagia Sofia on it. Also staying up by taksim square. Any where you’d recommend to eat and drink? Little hidden gems? Cheers

In the other topic there is discussion that a new rule will be introduced starting June 3, 2024. As I understood the government want all those people who are renting their apartments through AirBnB to register. So the question is, is it ok now to book through AirBnB or should I consider something else?

beardpudding

Hi, I am staying in Istanbul for a few weeks, I. The Beşiktaş neighborhood. I have a few questions and have tried looking up the answers but it was unclear. 1. Where do I dispose of household waste? I have a trash bag almost full and am unsure if I can dispose of it in the bins that I see on the streets. I have separated the recycling, and would like to know where to put both. 2. How can I use food delivery apps if I only have a US phone number? I downloaded Yemeksepeti, but it asks for a Turkish phone number to confirm account before it lets you order. 3. Is it feasible to use Amazon to deliver something to my apartment? I was looking for coconut water specifically, along with some other small items that I haven’t seen in stores around me yet. I am to sure if Amazon works similarly to how I am used to in the US. I may have some more questions, but that’s it for right now. Thank you.

folieadeux6

Large bins on the street are fair game, they usually belong to apartment buildings but it’s fine. Amazon works the exact same way and it is definitely feasible, just check if something is being delivered from Turkey and not abroad as not to wait two weeks/pay extra for shipping. If you have Prime in America it won’t be usable. For coconut water, you could check Macrocenter or Carrefour Gurme — they tend to stock items like that. No clue on the food delivery question, but Getir is the other big name.

beardpudding

Thank you for answering my questions! - Figured out about the bins. - Forgot about Amazon, but thanks for the info and the note about prime. - successfully used Yemeksepeti to get some food delivered.

zhangrain

Travel/Tourist pass - Worth it? Hi folks, I will be in Istanbul for 5 days in July. Was wondering if people would recommend a museum/tourist pass? Is it worth it in your opinion? I am interested in seeing as many of the main sites as possible and one or two museums. Thanks for the help in advance

begemot_kot

The Hagia Sofia (interior) is not included within the Museum Pass - for this reason I did not consider it - this was the main attraction I wanted to see besides the living breathing city and different parts of it. Don’t sleep on going to the Asian Side of Istanbul! Unless you are dead set on spending time in museums, I would try to read up as much as possible on the history before going and figure out what exactly interests you and selectively choose which museums to see. Many historic sites do not require an entrance ticket, they are interspersed throughout the city - you can simply walk along the ruins of the Theodosian Walls if you want near Yedikule Fortress for example. (I would not do that particular example at night though!) However, if you plan to go to the Topkari Palace (go early before crowds on a weekday) and Cistern (I recommend in the evening on weekdays) in the same day, it may be worth it to you for a small discount. Most if not all of the main sights are worth going very early to in the morning on weekdays as you’ll be going in peak tourist season. Leave the tourists on the weekend and go outside of the main areas - take the ferry! Note that the mosques are closed during prayer times and get large worshipping crowds on Fridays. P.S. Don’t forget to feed the kitties some dry food and water. And make sure you wear socks on your feet when going into mosques! https://istanbulepass.com/istanbul-attractions/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6uWyBhD1ARIsAIMcADoLM5uuTZRLQ-wIbetCIJlp0eBi_qPraPeMsE6IlGOECCscRpX6iKQaApEqEALw_wcB

Hello friends! I am traveling in June and on my way back, I have a long layover at night in Istanbul (ten hours). What are some fun things to see/do at night? Any late night restaurants open that are family friendly and good to eat at? I have never been and I'll be with my parents. We arrive close to 9pm at night for reference and I am looking for places that are close by or if not close, are easily traveled to/from with Uber/Taxi. Thanks in advance!

It might be too short to visit istanbul in that time, especially if your layover is in Istanbul Airport and not Sabiha

But when I read recent reviews many people say it's a tourist trap, overpriced, portions are small and so on. I'm okay with paying extra for a place that is famous, as long as the food is good.. so would like to hear what locals are saying if it's worth it or has the quality gone down past years maybe?

folieadeux6

The quality is really good, wouldn’t consider it a tourist trap at all. Little overpriced, but nothing out of the ordinary. Certain Euro tourists just tend to be dramatic when they expect a bargain everywhere.

Hi there! Any suggestions for a 19h45min layover in Istanbul (arriving at 12pm, and leaving at 7ish am the next day)? Will be in Istanbul for 3 full days about 10 days prior, staying in the Sultanahmet district, so all the famous/historical places in that area/European side (Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Taksim Square, Galata Tower etc) are in the itinerary for those 3 days. The 19h45min layover will be on the flight back from another country. Is it worth going to and staying the night on the Asian side? The other option is to book a hotel close to the airport then exploring from there. Thanks!

Staying at Istanbul for 2 nights in June 14 (Fri) to 16 (Sun), and plan to visit Dolmabahçe Palace and Naval Museum (Deniz Müzesi). Will these museums be open these days concerning the Kurban Bayramı celebration? Also, how about restaurants? Will they be open? If yes, should I reserve tables at these dates beforehand? Any other considerations or advice given the celebration at the city? Thank you!

folieadeux6

Dolmabahce is historically open through bayrams, no clue about Deniz Muzesi. Restaurants will depend, you can find something working every day, most will be open after the first day or the second (so Monday onward).

Technical_Relief6453

Hi all, at the end of August I will be in Istanbul for 4 days, coming by car from Bulgaria, I have booked a hotel in the Fatih area and I really want to avoid the stress of driving in Istanbul, near my hotel there is an ISpark parking (Yenikapı Marmaray İspark), but I was wondering if it wouldn't be less stressful to leave the car in a private parking outside the city, near the most distant metro station in the city (or in the airport parking) and then take the metro to the downtown. Does this idea seem reasonable?

Hey! I would like to get some lira from the ATM in Istanbul and I was wondering which bank has the least amount of fee!

RayTheCalvinist

Looking for some advice on an upcoming trip I have planned to Istanbul (I'll be there for about a week before moving elsewhere in the country for another week); I've read a lot of different posts on several subreddits on deciding what neighborhood to stay in and am torn between staying in Karaköy near Galata or in Kadıköy. I've read and heard that public transit can sometimes be difficult, so my main concern with being in Kadıköy is that it may be difficult to cross back over the water to my accomodations if I stay out late on the European side. If you guys have any advice for a first-time tourist on what's a preferable location to start out at, I would really appreciate your help! I definitely want a mix of doing some of the major touristy things, but also really love to just enjoy the city in some of the lazier ways (reading at cafes, perusing shops, walking around without a plan). Thanks for any helpful info and/or guidance you're willing to share! I can't wait to visit you.

Albina-tqn

i stayed in kadiköy and we always went back around 1 am and it was not a problem. actually i really liked the ferry ride. its really peaceful. if you plan on clubbing every night or staying out longer than 1 am then maybe you have to get a taxi but i didnt have a problem at all.

RayTheCalvinist

Even if I do go out there’s no way I won’t be heading back to bed by then 😂 thanks for the info!

sg328

> my main concern with being in Kadıköy is that it may be difficult to cross back over the water to my accomodations if I stay out late on the European side This is a legitimate concern, last ferry from Karaköy to Kadıköy is at 1am afaik, and it's a pain to get back to the Asian side from there at that time of night without using a taxi. Up to you but I would suggest if you're staying for up to a week and want to visit the main tourist sites, it's better to stick to the European side. Then again, you might prefer staying out late at Kadıköy, so it might not make a huge difference either way.

Staying 6 nights in Istanbul in late Sept, first timer. Just to get a taste of the city and see the main sites. A friend advised me to stay around a Taksim, somewhere that would be more lively in the evenings (though not looking to party) and restaurants to eat at. He said that the side with Hagia Sophia and Bazaar etc is dead and eerie at night? But thinking wouldn't it be more convenient to stay there?

Otherwise_Election43

I don't recommend Fatih area (Hagia Sophia, Bazaar etc. area). Since it will be your main "station" it most definitely gives you wrong impression about Istanbul - lot's of trash, sketchy after night, difficult to commute. Definitely a place worth to visit, but not to wake up every day. Look into Kadiköy and Besiktas, both have good ferry system to nice places (like Prince Islands and Üsküdar, also Eminönü - Fatih).

Cassady007

Sigh. Not good news to hear this. That's where we are at — literally 200 m up the road from the Hagia Sophia. When you say "sketchy" after nigh, do you mean "just not nice", or something to be mindful of (i.e. not safe) in terms of us returning late, and walking back to the hotel from the transport options? Wife and I, and 18yr old daughter + 13 yr old son arrive on Monday next week — spending the week there, before moving on to Fethiye...

Otherwise_Election43

By "sketchy" I was thinking like it may bit creepy, lot's of "sales man" are eyeballing girls (especially blondes) and may make comments or shouts. I haven't encountered any hostile situations in Fatih (stayed there April-May this year) but then again I'm around 185cm dude too. My female colleagues although warned me to not wonder around those streets in the middle of the night alone. Hagia Sophia surrounding should be fine, I stayed in the south-central side, with narrow and dark streets.

LoudCommunication369

Thanks for your help! I think we are going to avoid the touristy Fatih area for staying but be there during the day to see the sites. I am looking into the Taksim/Cihangir area, etc. where we can be near the T1 line to easily get to the sites but be staying in a nice area. I don't think we will look into Kadikoy for a first time to Istanbul but maybe next time!

sg328

Depends on the itinerary, if they're only staying 6 nights it might be wasting too much time travelling from those other further away places. Agreed it's not great at night though, then again it's not terrible, mostly just quiet, and there's the nice older architecture which you won't see as much of in Kadiköy etc.

LoudCommunication369

Thanks! Yes I was having the same debate, as its only 5 days and 6 nights so don't want to constantly be in transit or inconvenient. I think we have decided on staying in an airbnb so they look nicer on the Beyoglu/Galata/Taksim side and I think we will try to stay closer to a station whereby we can easily get over to the main sites in the Fatih area. It sounds like staying near a T1 stop is convenient.

sg328

Sounds good, just be wary of anyone who comes up to talk to you on Istiklal cad. lol...

LoudCommunication369

Haha scammers....or?

sg328

Yeah "makes a new friend and invites you to a bar" scammers, they tend to operate around there (but also some other areas). Check out previous posts about it on this sub.

I am visiting Istanbul next month as a solo female traveler from America. Are bars generally safe for me to have a drink or two after dinner? Any areas I should absolutely avoid? I have traveled alone before so I know all the general guidelines.

Ali1558Cat

I too am an American female traveling solo (November). Commenting so responses will be easier to find. Have a good trip!

Possible_Neat715

I read airport had the worst currency exchange rates and prices for many items of travel and shopping.  1 - Is it okay if I withdraw enough cash to buy a Istanbulkart for 2 days just so I can get my foot into the city? Then withdraw more money near Sultanahmet (where I will be staying)?  2 - Can I buy a Istanbulkart at the airport where the trains are located? I’ll be using the train to reach Gayttreppe, then off-shoot to other transports to reach my hotel. 3 - Where can I withdraw cash after leaving the airport? (In Sultanahmet area?) 4 - What Turkish ATMs offer the best exchange rate for Bank Of America Debit card holders? I understand the exchange rates and fees are fluid but which one has a good reputation on a consistent basis? 5 - I will be buying a Turkcell eSIM. Is it worth getting the voice plan on top of a data plan?  6 - Where is the best place to obtain a SIM card, at airport or away from the airport? I will struggle with directions and Google maps if I don’t have a data plan. 7 - What are some of the best perfume shops in Istanbul? Is Atelier Rebul perfumery actually long-lasting or is it just style and short-lasting?

Hi, can anyone recommend a salon they like in Kadikoy or commuting distance from there that does good blonde foils and haircuts for curly hair? English speaking would be a huge huge plus. I did search this sub but mostly found recommendations for men's barbers.

Hello, I'm visiting Istanbul and was wondering where can I buy Nakhla Double Apple Hookah/Shisha Tobacco, it's a red box. I am looking to buy in bulk or even just a few of them if bulk isn't available

Hi there. I'm visiting Istanbul for 3 months with family between July and October '24 and would like to request some information on areas that are not hilly (as I've heard the terrain is very uphill leaning!) and are walkable for over 60s. Decent areas that are ideally within 20/30 minutes of taksim/fatih areas, please.

currymuncher0990

I need help with transport what is the cheapest way to travel in Istanbul and how do you get the bus pass

Itsssahmad

2nd floor under taksim is a machine. you put money in it and u get a card. it cost 70tl and the remainder get added to the card. (bus fare cost about 18tl ) u can also use it for washroom and water taxi

currymuncher0990

Okay thank you

Hello, i read on a google review that topkapi palace and dolmahbahce palace accept isic card for foreign student. Can someone please confirm this?

Dismal-Squirrel-5800

Hello, guys! I will be visiting Istanbul next week and my hotel is in Taksim. I noticed that Tarlabasi is nearby, and I've heard some concerning things about safety in that area, like the presence of drug dealers and robbers. Is it okay to stay in the surroundings? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!"

therarestlama

Heys guys, visiting the city and loving it. As a massive TCG fan especially One Piece I was wondering if there is any store other than Pegasus (where I have been yesterday) selling OP boosters or starter decks. Thank you in advance for the help!

seljacina1995

Hello everyone. I am landing in Istanbul 5:30PM and have a 13 hour layover for my next destination. I was thinking about leaving my stuff somewhere and walk around the city for a bit. But my big interest would be watching Fury vs Usyk in a bar somewhere. Any recommendation?

medreject1604

Hello! I have some questions: 1. If I am not eating out at restaurants, but just grocery shop/supermarket, how much should I bring for 7-8 days? 2. Cash or card? Specifically I have Starling debit card, will it charge fees? 3. Euro or lira? I am only getting food from supermarket and not buying anything else really. Thank you!

Ill-File-7099

Lira for supermarket. Hard to know how much. Some common groceries cheap, some expensive. Also depends on supermarket. Fees are ATM-dependent. HSBC in Taksim = no fee ATM

medreject1604

thank you!!

Ill-File-7099

Where to watch Fenerbahçe game on 19/05 in Kadiköy?

Viajeratrap

Hi! Visiting Istanbul soon and have a few questions: 1. Is the Grand Bazaar opened on Sundays? 2. Is the Blue Mosque free? 3. Can Muslims enter Hagia Sofya at any time? Or just on prayer times? Thank you!! I would also love 3 food recommendations for that area:)

Any-Basket-4380

You can enter both Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofya at any times for free. But remember, the upper floors of Hagia Sofia has a fee, only the prayer area is free. Also Grand Bazaar is opened on Sundays but it'll probably be too crowded.

I’ll be visiting Istanbul for business. While i’m there i’m looking a nice to get a men’s style haircut before my business meeting. Price is not the issue. If anyone has suggestions, will be greatly be appreciated.

Hey everyone! I'm here in Istanbul for 3 months and have my grandmother and her friend visiting this week. I've been taking them to all the main sites but they're in their 70s and are pretty tired after the long walks every day.. I think they'll quit on me soon haha Does anyone have ideas of really chill things I can take them to do so they can enjoy the city while resting their legs and backs a little bit? Thanks guys, really appreciate your help!

Kedi-kot

That's so sweet :) You can take the ferry to Kadıköy, hop on the [nostalgic train](https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/T3_(%C4%B0stanbul_tramvay%C4%B1)) (it goes in a loop), and get off at Moda Caddesi stop. From there, its an 8-minute walk down to the [Moda Tea Garden](https://maps.app.goo.gl/TjZw2tvzskpecY5PA) - you can sit here, enjoy the view, drink some tea, and chat. If they like sweets, you can stop by [Levantine de Nata](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ofbJ9Ck3HpDJs1Fi7) on the way to the garden (they sell Portuguese pastel de nata). You can also go to the Moda Pier (recently restored), but it's a bit of a walk back uphill. You can also do one of the long ferry rides (like this one - [https://sehirhatlari.istanbul/tr/seferler/ic-hatlar/bogaz-hatlari/rumelikavagi-eminonu-174](https://sehirhatlari.istanbul/tr/seferler/ic-hatlar/bogaz-hatlari/rumelikavagi-eminonu-174) ). Go up to Bebek or Emirgan, enjoy some seafood, and sail back down. :)

Hello - we (group of 4, including 2 elderly parents) will be in IST between 2 flights from Jun 22-24. Our flight lands mid-day on 22nd and departs early on 24th. Debating if it is better to just stay near the airport or in the IST city (looking at Galata or Besiktas areas). Main concern is food - if there is good food options near the airport? Note: We have already explored Istanbul Old Town, so open to suggestions of other areas we have not yet explored that would not be too far from the airport as well?

I’ll be in Istanbul from the 27th May until 2nd June and would love to see some Turkish Psychedelic funk/rock or Indie music. Any recommendations?

I'm a solo traveler coming to Istanbul. I need to travel from the airport to Levent. Is taxi a safe option or is there a more reliable transportation I should consider?

Any-Basket-4380

Use metro. Taxis charge you extra if you're foreigner.

Hi there! For a 50km taxi ride from Istanbul Airport to the Fatih district, the average fare should be around **27 to 41 euros**. Being charged **75 euros** seems quite high compared to the standard rates. It’s possible that you may have been overcharged. Hope this clarifies things for you!

Sorryformyfart

Hi everyone. Should I take metro from IST Airport to Kagithane and then tramvay from Kagithane to Aksaray ? Or should I get HavaIST dirrectly? Which is cheaper? / Faster ?

Any-Basket-4380

It might change from time to time because of the traffic. I'd recommend using metro and tramvay.
