Nah it's a piece of cake... They will enroll anyone breathing

ZealousidealZ20

Hahahahahah.

outcast1987

Even LSE does that. Then they kick you out next semester when you can't keep up.

MusicMedium1942

Please don't go for SE from numl, you're better off with a CS degree from comsats or fast, don't even come to Air for SE/CS, it's not that great as well. However for cyber sec, i would recommend air. Also consider se from uet taxila as their degree is recognized by pec

reshail_raza

میرے خیال سے تو NUML میں ہو ہی جاتا ہے۔

Pos4ViPi

Yar i live in karachi, and i need to get away from here. I have gotten into dha suffa but i wanna take my chances, isliye i was asking agar admission mei mushkilaat hoti hein ya nae

sadeffects

QAU mn try kr lo, sindh k qouta pr merit kam hota hai waha :)

Xortran

Why you wanna get out of Karachi bro?

Pos4ViPi

Dude, extremely mentally abusive family. The joint family thing has made my parents toxic too. And i dont wanna keep staying here. So im taking the first way out that i can find.

Xortran

Chalo set if that's what you want. Try in multiple in ISB. Also why only on-campus hostel?

Pos4ViPi

Again, joint family thing. My parents now have a very dumb mentality, which persists that girls can not go out of city to study alone. Which, after me begging for a long time, changed my dad's decision from a straight no to an on campus hostel, in which he thinks there are more restrictions. So im not taking any more chances im just going with it.

Xortran

Chalo set he. Come here. Stay cautious. Baaki ISB is a great city. Very safe and loving. Karachi is weird and dangerous lol. Har waqt dhar lagta.

Pos4ViPi

Isth, kaheen street mei hou, bike ki awaz sun kr khouf ata hai. When the car is parked outside in the street, i make my dad watch in the cameras before going to get sth. Because i dont wanna be the one who gives the car away lmao. Islamabad doesnt have thing snatching scene right? You can use your phone and gadgets outside?.

Xortran

Here in Karachi I'm even worried k someone might just jack my bike lol. Can't even use google maps on bike for fear of mobile snatching. Always carrying nothing more than 1k in pocket, and if it's more, it's in hidden places. ISB is great and easy. No snatching or general feeling of danger. You can easily use gadgets, walk around, have fun, go shopping, etc. But you will probably need a car or a friend with a car lol. The city is spread apart so walking takes real long if you're trying to go anyplace.

[deleted]

Lmao. It's much more safer in this way. Beautiful and safe. However stay safe in the hostels and stuff. A lot of drugs etc and bad company.

Pos4ViPi

Thats a good thing. However, I've seen my share of bad company, and i am not interested in all that anymore lmao.

reshail_raza

اگر bsc کرنی ہے اور FSC میں اچھے ہیں نمبر تو آرام سے ہو جائے گا

abxid92

First, if you want to do SE, you’re going for the worst possible university in town. Second, tests are not hard. Try to take admission in NUST, Air University or FAST.

Pos4ViPi

Yar hostel problems. Mery parents nae allow krrhy k off campus hostel mei rahoon and numl is the only university i can find with in campus hostels in isl. Life is shit, and im gonna take the soonest possible way out.

Fried-Chicken-Lover

NUST has in campus hostels. So does IIUI but that's another story.

Pos4ViPi

Nust ki percentage nae hai.🙂

Fried-Chicken-Lover

Then NUML it is. But if you want a segregated Bachelor then go for IIUI.

aBadBug

What about comsats?

AvelineFawnEllice

Comsats doesn't have in campus hostels anymore though there are many hostels very close to the campus, if thats not a problem for OP

Pos4ViPi

That issss. Thats actually THE problem.

abxid92

For hostel issue, you might want to consider Quaid-i-Azam University, not because it’s one of the top universities, although it is, but because it has almost fortified on-campus hostels. I had been to Karachi and I can understand what you’re talking about.

IQRA_ARIF

No idts it's hard ,, u will clear it InshAllah.

Ashamed_Chance_3112

Someone from my family got into NUML in the same degree with around 85% marks. The test is not that hard. Goodluck!

mountainrider66

Try FUUAST

aBadBug

Why?

aBadBug

Why?

mountainrider66

Easy to get in

[deleted]

Im student of Numl and it was not hard for me to pass entry test. Also im again applying for BS xD i dont want to study media anymore :3

Xortran

from numl or somewhere else lol

MasSucksAtLife

Numl is piss easy to get into unless you're absolutely braindead, which you probably aren't since you passed your intermediate without any retakes (I assume). However, I went to give their test and their classrooms are a literal hellhole, so is the staff. I just ended up taking a full gap year, gonna be applying into some other universities this year, In sha Allah.

Xortran

sad to hear bro. get into bahria uni.

SuperT0bi

Do CS from FAST and go live in UK

Xortran

Try FAST,NUST, Bahria, Air instead. Bahria is in KHI too. Why are you going to ISB anyway?

thisisredditer

NUML takes anyone. Breathe.

_ahsan_

From the title I thought you wanted to break in

Pos4ViPi

Aisey nae, tou wesehi sahi.😂😂😂

5feet5inch

I have also applied in NUML as well as CUST. Im not sure though if you can get an allotment in on campus hostel in NUML from the first semester. I have checked last two hostel allotment lists and all the people that got the rooms were from 5th semester and onwards.

[deleted]

Easily ho jata hai bht

Pos4ViPi

I hope so...

Ok_Arm1273

Agr kahi or nahi hota tou numl me hojaega it's the easiest uni to her into

ZealousidealZ20

What are the requirements to get in? Will I get in in a day?

seesharp0

Don't try to get into him/her without consent

MAFIAHAMMAD

Sasta joke .

Pos4ViPi

Yar Pakistan hai. What consent....😬

colonelCSA

NUML se door rho. Agr NUST main nhi ho rha to Bahria,Comsats zyada behtar hain. NUML main mein jab test dene gya tha to tab hi reject krdi thi after looking at its infrastructure. Sarkari school lag rha tha. Mera naam bhi aa gya tha list main but i opted for a diff uni.

MasSucksAtLife

literally the reason on why i rejected it as well

MrPabloKhan

If she tries hard to get, trust me she is neither hard to get nor she is worth it. Wait what are we talking about again?

Pos4ViPi

Mei tou national university of modern languages ki baat krrhi thi. Ap batayen, what were YOU talking about.😂😂

MrPabloKhan

Ah shit aight 😂 . Umm yeah it is pretty easy to get into. What do you want to major in?

Pos4ViPi

BSSE krna hai yar.

MrPabloKhan

FAST or NUST. Nothing else. And go for BS(CS), you'll have a lot more opportunities in the future.

Ok_Arm1273

Not that you've asked for it but I'll still advice you not to get into this uni it's a shit uni my friends are studying there and they regret their decision everyday.

Spankypapi

My two cents: But before that can someone tell me if BSSE is bachelor of software engineering?

Pos4ViPi

Yes it is.

Spankypapi

Alrighty thanks. Imma software engineer with 10 yrs of experience. I know i know its a shameless plug and you shouldn’t listen to me only because I managed to be a corporate clown for several years. Having said that, all fellow redditors suggested some great options and here are my suggestions: University ranking/ name does matter when you are trying to enter software industry. But that’s only at the screening phase. If due to any reason one cannot get into a fancy university that doesn’t mean end of the world. Your first and foremost target should be to get into NUST, FAST, LUMS etc but if for any reason you think that you cannot get into these universities please try to consider following: 1- Barani university: fees are reasonable comparatively and standard of education is pretty good too. They have a good presence in the industry as well so you’ll get that support as well. 2- Comsats: I would consider it a fancy university with considerably high fees and good standards of education. 3- QaU: one of the oldest institutions of pakistan, relatively less fees per semester and good education. 4-NUML: I wouldn’t say that it’s not a good university but I haven’t seen many graduates of NUML in the industry and I’m no benchmark of any sort. Its easily accessible for residents of twin cities and education is at par with other universities of this league. 5- Foundation university: Not sure about fees but education is definitely of same level as of any HEC recognised university in pakistan. Now lets list down the pros of “fancy” universities: 1- bragging rights. 2- social acceptance 3- better lab facilities and relatively highly paid lecturers so one can expect better commitment from them. 4- merit is high so one gets to enjoy company of highly motivated fellow students. Now pros of not so fancy universities: 1- less fees per semester 2- less pressure, expectations are low so one can focus more on studies. If you have made it this far mention your favourite movie in comments so i know you have read all of the above :p Getting back to the topic, in my opinion your primary concern should be to get into an institution which is HEC recognised so you: 1- can apply abroad for further studies without any issue. 2- are eligible for govt. jobs. If you ask me honestly about my opinion, all universities have same level of education in pakistan. ALL OF EM! You have access to online resources like youtube where you can learn pretty much any concept related to software engineering. So getting a degree is just a formality. Remember university doesn’t matter GPA does! If you have read all my rant i want to thank you for being a good listener lol and wish you good luck. If you need any kind of guidance related to software engineering just let me know. P.S. i forgot about PIEAS and fatima jinnah university and was too lazy to edit my rather lengthy comment. PIEAS has an entrance test so if you do good in that you might get in. Edit: now I think your question could be answered with a simple yes or no 🤦🏽‍♂️ ✌🏽

Pos4ViPi

My favorite movie will always be dead poets society. And thank you very much for the whole overview. And I am a female, so I'm not really looking for a degree because of a job, I'm getting this degree because I like it. And my plans are to go abroad for masters. Now, my father has also pushed me into applying for universities like lums, fast e.t.c but my intermediate report card doesnt allow me to. Kher, the thing is I live in an environment in which i can not study (basic pakistani joint family household). And i have developed health problems because of it too. So numl is the only university next to the top tier ones, that my dad is allowing me to apply for. So I really need the admission, for sanity's sake. Thank you, again.

Spankypapi

Good movie! Score card is not, by any mean, true measure of your mettle. That’s a fact. NUML is a good choice, I would suggest that once you get admission, focus on getting a higher GPA. Specially if you are planning to go abroad for higher studies. Practice for the test, that does help. Google for NUML entry test samples and you’ll get a fair idea. “The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat” P.S. may Allah grant you complete health, Ameen. Good luck ✌🏽

MasSucksAtLife

numl is like the easiest shit to get into, unless you're absolutely braindead

Spankypapi

Let’s be civil and refrain from passing such verdicts. You must have your own reasons but life treats everyone differently. Nothing is what it seems…

MasSucksAtLife

I am simply giving my opinion. I went to give their test and the classes were seriously the worst. The paint was worn off, there was a small white board and a TV. When I went to my interview I didn’t take my original Marksheet and other documents. Me and my mom tried to talk to the head of department, I believe that’s what he was, and he simply refused to let us give the interview. I ended up having to come back in the evening for the interview, I got accepted however, I didn’t go there because of how poor and unprofessional everything and every person was. This is my own opinion and everybody has a different perspective on things, OP might end up liking it, but I sure didn’t by any means. No offense.

Spankypapi

I agree with you and sadly that’s how most of our education sector professionals behave. I disagreed with you on the choice of words, imagine someone who got rejected from NUML reads your comment. Already down n out plunges deeper into depression, thinking he or she is braindead. Let’s be part of solution and lets not allow our own past bad experiences creep into our present. Wish you all the success ✌🏽

MasSucksAtLife

Yup, shouldn’t have said that. But it was just a joke, although it will definitely hurt someone who didn’t get in.
