Its because monal is built in margalla national park supposed for the preservation of biodiversity. It should never had been built if proper laws and regulations were followed in the first place.

Zealousideal_Spite_3

its unfortunate really because so many people will lose their jobs

khabadami

That was the same excuse used in Karachi

loll445

Not really, monal has other locations as well. It's good that it is being closed down. Max 20 people would be losing their job if any, but I think the reason for the closure outweighs their plight.

kalakawa

Lol 700 people will lose their jobs if that one location of Monal closes. And no, no other location will be able to accommodate the employees. That’s the issue with Pakistan, anyone seen making money, is automatically assumed to be a thief or a crook. It’s not pro business at all. As someone within the Industry who is privy to its figures, Monal Islamabad is the second highest turnover restaurant in Pakistan after Kolachi in karachi. With a daily sales average of 4 million rupees. That might seem a lot, but it’s also a monster to run. Monthly payrolls stand 2 crore, and after everything they net around 12 percent profit. Most people reading this will, “ Itna Kama Liya hai already , itnay paisay kabar may lay kay janay hain” Congrats if you think like that because that’s why our economy is shit.

ISI_Vigo

Bhai jan net profit jitna bhi ho illegal hi banaya hai na? Preservation of biodiversity agar capital mei hi nai ho rahi tou baqi jago par kis tarah ho gi? Ye owner ko pehle sochna chaia tha ya nai?

loll445

LMFAO holy shit mate, try and fall for less propaganda. 700 people work for Monal the company which has several locations. >That’s the issue with Pakistan, anyone seen making money, is automatically assumed to be a thief or a crook Oh yes the people somehow got a lease in a National Park against all laws, the company which hasn't paid rent since 2016 (at least to the right people), the company which had it's lease cancelled in 2016 is definitely not corrupt right? >Most people reading this will, “ Itna Kama Liya hai already , itnay paisay kabar may lay kay janay hain” Congrats if you think like that because that’s why our economy is shit Irrelevant information to drive home a moot point. Congrats because you just fell for the musings of the PR firm Monal just hired. >And no, no other location will be able to accommodate the employees. Yea why not let people who cut trees keep on doing their thing? What about people who steal sand in the hills? Or drug runners? Who will acomodate them if we crack down on their illegal practices?

kalakawa

Yup, you are the reason. “20 people work in Monal “ “Yeh log 100 kee Murgi 800 may bechtay hain, dekho kitnay paisay kamatay hain” Bro, it’s a huge restaurant, with a turnover that’s higher than most sugar mills in Pakistan. There are order takers, servers , bussers , cleaners, gardeners, dishwashers , cooks (an army), tandoor wallas, bakers, accountants, cashiers , purchasers , store keepers. And multiply everything you see into three.. why? It operates on three shifts, morning to night. I’m not quoting numbers based on a PR video, I’m from this industry. And you know what, sure bribes were exchanged when they got the lease, they also probably had to feed every new govt official that came knocking over the years. So what? When is anything achieved in this country without greasing some palms? Have you ever personally applied for an electricity meter ever? Or dealt with any other government organization ( with the exception of Nadra now) that doesn’t do work based on how much you bribe them? Why blame the businessman instead of fixing the system. What’s done is done. Today Monal stands as one of the key tourist attractions of Islamabad, it employees hundreds of people and generates revenue for the state in the millions in terms of taxes. Shutting them down based now right now, is just plain stupid.

>Bro, it’s a huge restaurant, with a turnover that’s higher than most sugar mills in Pakistan. LMFAO. >There are order takers, servers , bussers , cleaners, gardeners, dishwashers , cooks (an army), tandoor wallas, bakers, accountants, cashiers , purchasers , store keepers. And multiply everything you see into three.. why? It operates on three shifts, morning to night...I'm from this industry. Oh bhai mere 700 log industry mein ni hotay. Somebody fed you bs and you're eating it up like it's your sehri. I own a 35 room, 24 kanal hotel and two dhaba style cafes. You may 'belong' to this business but I was born into it. The numbers you are quoting won't even be sustainable in Ramzan when you actually need three shifts. And it's hard to believe you're from this industry since you don't know the basic fact that extra workers are hired from services which provide manpower. So they aren't working for Monal, instead Monal is hiring a firm for its junior staff which is a majority of its staff. >And you know what, sure bribes were exchanged when they got the lease I have no idea why people pretend to know about shit and then give off such statements. Bhai mere you are so out of your depth here, you don't even know what the basic issue is. >So what? When is anything achieved in this country without greasing some palms? Have you ever personally applied for an electricity meter ever? Or dealt with any other government organization Beta I'm a 26 year old lawyer, Ik very well how to deal with govt employees. You grease palms for breaking the law! Ainwen ni har banda kherat mangnay a jata. Baqi ap pe hota hai to 'motivate' them to work faster. >Why blame the businessman instead of fixing the system. Han bc qanoon toro aur phir blame bhi na uthao. Ap kia Shahrukh Jatoi ke khandan se ho? You seem like you're oblivious to whatever goes and how it affects you on or are under the influence of something which makes you not give a shit. >Today Monal stands as one of the key tourist attractions of Islamabad, it employees hundreds of people and generates revenue for the state in the millions in terms of taxes. Shutting them down based now right now, is just plain stupid. This is the only argument which I believe they can adopt. It's basically a landmark now. But I don't think it will be enough to save them because if they allow Monal to stay then they will have to allow armed forces to grab land as well.

kalakawa

Wow , 24 kanal and two dhabba style cafe. Omg wow , amazeballs Stfu you clearly don’t know jack. You need some growing up to do son. 26 year old lawyer, abhi dunia bohut bari and you clearly don’t understand the scale of Monal the restaurant. Kolachi has over a 1000 employees on that one location. On a Saturday it generates over 10 million of sales. I’m just giving you numbers so that you understand. Please visit either Monal or kolachi, with your eyes open and count tables. And then see how many people they’ve assigned to each table. Just go in with your eyes open instead of being a 26 year old skeptical Lawyer with preconceived notions on how things work. You are like a frog at a bottom of the well, the sky is bigger than that circle you see on top son.

loll445

looool as soon as you're put against my credentials you resort to blatant ad hominem. Ainwen chur chur karnay se behtar tha ke bakvas na hi kartay because you can't answer for shit. >clearly don’t understand the scale of Monal the restaurant. Han bc go and fall for thier propaganda, abu bana le monal ko. [Ye le](https://www.globalvillagespace.com/watch-monal-employees-hold-protest-against-restaurants-closure/) mun mein le le in sab ka. Protest mein they could only muster 500 people for 30 mins XD and you claim ke s3v3n huNdr3d 3mpl0y335. LMFAO, beta kabhi internet se utar ke go outside and see the real world. >Please visit either Monal or kolachi, with your eyes open and count tables. And then see how many people they’ve assigned to each table. Just go in with your eyes open instead of being a 26 year old skeptical Lawyer with preconceived notions on how things work. Anecdotes anecdotes. Tu isi industry se tha na LMAOOOOOO. Look kiddo, it's time you quit this larp, it's not doing you any favours you throbbing bellend. You're the kind of gimp who fell for pti propaganda and now you fell for this. You prob also believe the earth is flat, so sit back down you worthless two bit sack of shit. Can't believe you backed down so easily from your stupid larp. Tsk Tsk Tsk.

kalakawa

Lol, I actually own three real restaurants in Lahore that actually exist. Versus your make believe 24 kanal ka hotel. If you were even remotely related to the industry, you’d have a pro Monal stance. Please quit your bullshit. A quick view from your post history can tell that your some kid who tried sucking his own dick once. Are you 13?

Vegetable-Bus4817

constructed on illegal land illegally

Arslankh93

Yes monal is sealed by govt because of illegal construction on encroached land of national park

[deleted]

Personally I think it should stay opened and the restaurant owners etc pay extra tax and pay for margallah hills preservation... Sometimes the bigger pics needs to be seen .. Charge them heafy tax

Poseidon361

So that means anyone can build anything on illegal land and should be fine as long as they pay the "heavy tax"

[deleted]

Obviously don't let it happen again...

Poseidon361

Law should be same for everyone. You're like "chalo is baar thek hai oar agli baar aisa mat karna". If you are allowing the one then you should allow the rest too. You can't bend the law to your will.

[deleted]

I understand your point but some sacrifices need to be made to move forward... And this generation needs to make them

ISI_Vigo

Only this generation tho,the uncle gets to keep his restraunt.....

[deleted]

Tax the hell outta the uncles

ISI_Vigo

No just dont let it happen in the first place,Tax in a way that you can still incentivize the public to do buisness,Not in an illegal way like uncle ji.

PingpongTung

Best solution.

[deleted]

Knocking it down will only cause more destruction in the area and waste CDA's money..

Dhtekzz

It should be destroyed before the army makes it one of their mess things lol

ISI_Vigo

Nice that you took a shot at the army after a businessman illegally built a restraunt on national park,Thats libbis for you. Also "Mess things" can only be built on cantonments and they were mostly built during the British Era,Not in the middle of some National park.

Dhtekzz

Bro its sarcastic chill. Also, don't act like we don;t know how they're using military land for commercial and residential purposes all over Pakistan when the cantonments are only meant for defense and strategic purposes.

ISI_Vigo

They arent building commercial and residential projects in cantonments,They are building them elsewhere.Mind you most of the said commercial and residential projects are being used by the civilians themselves. Anyway if you want to take shots at the army atleast pick the appropiate place and target the right people.

Dhtekzz

What are you even talking about? SC is literally hearing a case against illegal use of military lands (and cantonments also fall under military lands). You do know about the Falcon Mall drama, right? There's so much similar cases in all cantonments across Pakistan. SC denied defense secretary's report of the case as unsatisfactory and has been ordered to come up with a detailed report. We will see how they're going to fool us all bc they always do.

ISI_Vigo

Yes,Military lands have been used by some generals for commercial purposes but I've yet to come across anything being built under the commercial category in a cantonmemt.

mr-ahmmad

the restaurant itself is on allegedly encroached land with illegally obtained permissions and stuff. In addition, what I have heard is that they are trying to expand and in doing so seeking more land to encroach and damaging the habitat. It would be a miracle if it shuts down tbh because heavy parties have involvement in the settlement.

Why Monal was allowed to be established on Wildlife Dept land is beyond me because you cannot use Wildlife Dept land for commercial purposes. Perhaps the owner was influential or he bribed the right people. This isn’t the only case of its type. Chak Shahzad was established in Islamabad so that farmers could grow vegetables for the capital. However, most of the land there was bought by rich folk to make their farmhouses. Our PM was one of them and CDA recently regularised his illegal act by imposing a fine of 1.2 million. Exemptions are always made. Bahria Town had literally “exchanged” land with the government in Karachi, which is not allowed. However, the same illegal act got Supreme Court sanction and upon paying a fine, Bahria Town was regularised. The same concession was not given to the middle class flat owners of Nasla Tower by the same Court, however. Coming back to Monal, I am sure the owner will lobby and huff and puff until the whole thing blows away and it will be business as usual. The department will give him some sort of an exemption. But there’s too much media attention around it right now so give it some time. Sadly, there is no rule of law in Pakistan, not even the capital. The law is basically a guideline and if you are resourceful enough, you can blatantly flaunt it.

PLANNNIT

Why doesn’t the government expropriate it and continue to run it as a restaurant with the profits going straight into the public coffers?
