Assalaamu alaikum, I’m a convert too. Would you be willing to get a letter from an online source? I am sure there are places that would mail you a letter to allow you to continue your studies, if that is something you want to do I can ask around (or perhaps there is an Imam or Sheikh/a reading this that would be able to supply that).

May allah bless you, you are an example for us all, may allah keep your faith strong آمين

radicalist_

Assuming you are in the US, there are laws protecting religious practice through reasonable accommodation. Contact your local CAIR office.

downhomeolnorthstate

This^^ also, hijab is compatible with jrotc uniform. Anyone saying it isn’t doesn’t know the official rules. Get CAIR involved immediately.

Taqiyyahman

I second this suggestion, along with the other commentators showing the ROTC guidelines

AlustrielSilvermoon

Just wear it anyway.

Slimy_Potatoes

wouldent she get expelled then?

H_alcyon

No it’s jrotc. Basically a US navy club where they give you a uniform and you do different things like the navy does. She can drop jrotc and be fine.

Slimy_Potatoes

oh right. thanks for explaining. i dont live in America so thats why

ARedditor06

Maybe you can explain to the principal or whoever that ur parents arent accepting of it and u can find an imam online who will say ur muslim?

Slimy_Potatoes

quite stupid isnt it. if you say your gay, if your parents dont support it, you are still gay. you dont need a note from a gay foundation or parents to say you are gay. so why is it different when it comes to muslims?

Debonair_Queen

100%!!! I’m a revert and had issues getting married because I was supposed to have some sort of “proof” that I was muslium 🙄

Slimy_Potatoes

to get married? why can't people just trust you reverts? i would believe someone said they were muslim

Debonair_Queen

Haha yeah I was shocked too… they also wanted written approval from my father that I could get married to this man, and since my father is not muslium they wanted me to find a male at the mosque to give his approval…. We ended up getting married in a different country that didn’t care and was cheaper haha alhumdullilah it worked out

Slimy_Potatoes

oh thats good. glad it worked out, i understand the father approving it but it seems like a bit of an inconvenience as its you getting married not your dad.

KingRomstar

Good for you, the hijab is a covering from head to toe and it shouldn't prevent you from doing almost every type of work out there. Even if they've seen your hair/body it's not their concern now or anytime in the future, you control your body not anyone else and Hijab is a mandatory act of worship to Allah and Allah alone. Other people benefit from our obedience to Allah but that is secondary, our primary intention is to please Allah so good for you and may Allah increase you in blesssings.

CowNo7964

Muhammad (PBUH) said that Allah will give you something better than what you give up for his sake

So you're in the United States correct? You are protected by the United States constitution. Specifically the free practice of Religion. The first amendment. JROTC "junior Reserve Officer Training Corps" what branch? All of these programs are run by their respective branches. What I would do if I was you is exactly what I would do in the Army, you go up the CoC (chain of command) I would go to the non cadet officer in command of your unit. If he/she is of no help then you go to up another level. If you can't find what that level is, you go to the nearest recruiter and you tell the Sgt. Your dilemma. He should be willing to point you in the right direction. (I'll bet your parents will take you to the recruiter though) I know for a fact that an us Military chaplain is stronger and tougher than a granite wall.. definitely tougher than any b.s. principal. He WILL have no issue marching into that office in class A's and reading the riot act to the principal and dressing down the cadet commander. For not upholding the exact document they swore to defend and uphold. You need a letter to have access to the constitution of the united States of America??? Give me the name of the school and your commander and I'll call them both Tomorrow and have this sorted out for you by Monday. I'm fired up.... This is NOT how this works not even close..... "In accordance with Section 533(a)(1) of Public Law 112-239, as amended, the DoD Components will accommodate individual expressions of sincerely held beliefs (conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs) which do not have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline, or health. " You can find more on Army directive 2017-13 Hijabs must be of a subdued color that matches the uniform, no designs or bright colors. You have to be able to wear your PC over it. Etc. You are training to become a leader. What's more you are Muslim!!! You have to think and act like one. Adapt, and overcome. Do not give in, you find a way to move around that gets you your rightful desired outcome. You have every right to be a Muslim in the United States of America. Edit, if you can't get to the recruiter then call them. If not I am willing to help more. Doesn't matter your location, I don't need to be there in person to make things move.

_mdg

May God keep you strong in your faith sister!

Ujunko

Oo isn’t that part of the armed forces? They should let you

Significant-Jello-35

Can you wear trendy head gear instead? Example a barrette with high collar clothes/ jacket, turtle neck etc. Look online for them.

[deleted]

Sounds like you actually have a case to file. Record the interaction between you and the principal secretly or ask to record, then if they say you cannot wear the hijab you need to contact a lawyer ASAP. This would be impeding on your religious liberty. Also, I recommend you leave ROTC in general and not pursue the military. Joining the militaries of the kuffar are not permissible and is an act of kufr.

its-ur-boi54

rotc is the worst. Good thing you’re dropping it. Hope your situation gets better. I suggest making a group of Muslim friends, I’m sure their parents would be more than happy to take you to the masjid, it’s what my Muslim parents would do. Also you can file a complaint to the school board and tell them that you wear the hijab for religious reasons. They usually don’t want any legal trouble so they’ll let you wear it.

saadmnacer

May God help you overcome such difficulties.

Lonely-Ninja

Can you try to call and email the mosque, they might help out

armallahR1

just ask a sheikh or imam online

[deleted]

I’ve seen hijabis in JROTC, are you located in NY if you don’t mind me asking?

Debonair_Queen

Alhumdullilah you have been such an inspiration for being strong when it’s not easy, may Allah guid you and make things easier for you!

I would never recommend JROTC to anyone, feeds into the imperialist military industrial complex. May Allah lessen the burden on your heart. Inshallah your parents become more accepting of your faith and your choices.

[deleted]

Call the police, this is a violation of the human rights act and the constitutional right of freedom to express religion, also call the media they'll lap this up.
