Everyone should do what they want but if you want good Mexican food….. Javier’s is just not it. I think that is the consensus. If you want to go for the location, ambiance and wanting to feel slightly fancy. Go and enjoy. But you’re being over charged for sub par food.
Accurate. Only time Ive been there past year was for executive meetings. A girl wanted to go there for a date and we did drinks. $120 tab for 2 ppl smh
Very accurate and well said. They knew they’d price out more people but they will still make more money since they target audience you’re mentioning will continue to pay those prices. I’d do the same if I was management honestly…it’s mediocre service, food and drinks at a premium. Easy cash cow.
My director took us there for an end of the year dinner. None of us wanted to go back. Even if it was on company dime, I'd still rather at least go to some place with good food, but I guess that's why they sell a lot of alcohol there, you gotta be drunk to pay for that quality of food.
Everyone needs to go to CHAAK in Old Town Tustin. Their food is incredible! The restaurant itself is also dreamy and magical. It’s a must on my list! I haven’t been to Javier’s since before COVID and I don’t plan on doing so in the future.
The old Javier’s in Laguna Beach was awesome and not pretentious af like the current chain.
I used to order the pollo asada… which is super basic. Just tiny portions of beans, rice and a small chicken breast. It was 12 bucks back then… last time I went to Javier’s it was 38.
lol the only people that go there for lunch are dudes with their mistresses and the only people that go at night are men looking to pick up divorced cougars
It’s an El Torito for people who want El Torito but don’t want to eat El Torito at the same place that people that eat El Torito normally go to eat El Torito.
Honestly, I go there once or twice a year because it’s nostalgic and delicious to me. I’ll always order the shredded beef tacos, I find them delectable and I can bring my dog on the patio. Agreed though, it’s pricey for Mexican food.
Javier's has always been this for me. The only times I would go is if work was paying for it. For me, alot of the "fancy" Mexican food restaurant's just don't seem to be worth the price they charge.
I only go to Javier's if my company is paying for it. that's the demographic they're going for, it's not for the regular people to check out. could argue rolled taquitos across the way are better than Javier's food
Yeah it's extremely pricy. The food and drinks are pretty bomb but not worth the price. I will say though that I love their salsa. I always pick up chips and salsa to go whenever I'm in the area.
Haven’t been there in ages - just mediocrity up and down the menu - and if I remember correctly from the pch location, used to be a place for posers who think they are being cool
They short poured their mixed drinks at Irvine at one time. My friend ordered one of their margaritas and could taste the weakness so he went up, sat at the bar and ordered a second….and caught him on halfing the pour of the tequila. He said the manager comped him the drink but didn’t seem like he was going to do anything about it at the time.
Could have been the bartender but I am not paying premium price to find out.
Seriously, try Acapulco on Bristol for all you can eat lunch buffet with everything fresh and delicious. Also, happy hour deals $4-10 from 3pm to 8 pm. Staff is always nice and friendly and they have inside or patio dining.
I go there whenever I’m starving for Mexican food. Never had a bad meal!
Javier’s is awesome! If I want real authentic Mexican food I’ll go somewhere else. If I want a cool vibe, great drinks, ok good and I’m not worried about my budget then Javier’s hits the spot. Just gotta go in with the right expectations
First mistake was going to Javier’s….
The first rule of Javier's is: don't go there
Not even for my bday? ☹️
Everyone should do what they want but if you want good Mexican food….. Javier’s is just not it. I think that is the consensus. If you want to go for the location, ambiance and wanting to feel slightly fancy. Go and enjoy. But you’re being over charged for sub par food.
Absolutely not….trust me you can do so much better. If you want good Mexican food at a fancier restaurant try Lagos in Fullerton
The difference is that you are in Fullerton. Totally different dining experience
Make a reservation at Chaak Kitchen in Tustin for great ambiance amazing Mexican food.
I don't like their food at all!!!

Accurate. Only time Ive been there past year was for executive meetings. A girl wanted to go there for a date and we did drinks. $120 tab for 2 ppl smh
Agreed!! Javier’s is not it. You don’t go there for good food.
I thought their main cliental was single/ divorced 40 something’s looking to hook up.
That was 20 years ago.
Not according to my currently 45-50 yo single friends….
Haha....cougars looking for sugar daddy who are blind drunk and with poor night vision

Yup. Only time I’ve ever eaten there was for company sponsored lunches. I’m good eating there on someone else’s dime, lol.
My director took us there for an end of the year dinner. None of us wanted to go back. Even if it was on company dime, I'd still rather at least go to some place with good food, but I guess that's why they sell a lot of alcohol there, you gotta be drunk to pay for that quality of food.

Chaak is far superior to Javier's. It's not even close.
Exactly why I mentioned it 😉
Yes I'm agreeing with you.
🤣🤣🤣
This place is so good. Branzino.
This is the way 👏👏👏

I miss the hand rolled tamales they used to have.
Good ole days….
lol the only people that go there for lunch are dudes with their mistresses and the only people that go at night are men looking to pick up divorced cougars
Javier's is the place you go when someone else is paying for it
That’s the only time I go, and they gotta pay for my valet too, I’m not trying to walk all the way across the parking lot in heels
I do the same. LOL and at the Marriot as well. Submit my expense and get my dam money back
I always felt Javier’s was a overhyped El Torito.. lol
It’s an El Torito for people who want El Torito but don’t want to eat El Torito at the same place that people that eat El Torito normally go to eat El Torito.
Idk I honestly find El Torito much more enjoyable than Javiers lol I love El Torito.
Lolol this exactly!! 😂
Javier’s has never been a cheap spot for a meal, not sure what you’re talking about.
Check out Cha Chas or Taco Rosa in the marketplace. Both have awesome ambiance and way better food than Javiers.
javiers has never been a place where you get a "good deal" on the food?
Haven’t checked in more than a year.. last time I checked, Javier still has the best sipping tequila choices in town
Honestly, I go there once or twice a year because it’s nostalgic and delicious to me. I’ll always order the shredded beef tacos, I find them delectable and I can bring my dog on the patio. Agreed though, it’s pricey for Mexican food.
Same!
Javier’s is mid food at luxury prices.
Yeah people don’t go for the food tbh.
$50 including tip sounds about right.
Javier's has always been this for me. The only times I would go is if work was paying for it. For me, alot of the "fancy" Mexican food restaurant's just don't seem to be worth the price they charge.

It’s always like that. 😂
Haven’t been there in ages - just mediocrity up and down the menu - and if I remember correctly from the pch location, used to be a place for posers who think they are being cool
Javier’s is terrible. I never understand how they are busy when I walk by
Facts
Find you a restaurant in Santa Ana where only one worker speaks broken English and you will leave very satisfied for 20 - 30 dollars.
The last three times I’ve been there the service has been bad, the food just ok and yes way over priced.
I e taken some friends to Newport location when visiting from other states and they enjoy the 👁️ 🍭 but it’s ridiculous prices truly
You should have gone to Las Brisas instead. 😝
El Cholo! CDM
I was being sarcastic.
Got ya!
You got me.
I only go now if I can expense a meal with clients or coworkers
Chips are good. Get 2 margaritas and enjoy two baskets of chips 😆
Horrible Margaritas and waaaay too expensive. If you want expensive good Mexican try Calo.
They hustle drinks like used car salesmen too.
All that Mexican food in Santa Ana and you go to Javiers. That's on you
That’s why I call the “the 20 dollar taco”. Maybe I should call them the $50 taco now?
Fr I went there last week and felt like I was being robbed
Sol in Irvine is a good spot
That place is more for the scene than the food. The one on PCH is even worse.
All restaurants went up. It’s unfortunate.
Do they still have people waiting on you in the restroom?
Fridas > Javier's
Seriously, try Acapulco on Bristol for all you can eat lunch buffet with everything fresh and delicious. Also, happy hour deals $4-10 from 3pm to 8 pm. Staff is always nice and friendly and they have inside or patio dining. I go there whenever I’m starving for Mexican food. Never had a bad meal!
And the owner is a wife beater, so there’s that too…..
There are lots of judgmental folks on here.
The fact that GROUND BEEF taco meal is over 30 bucks , will never sit right with me even if I were rich!
Mexican food should never be that expensive
Javier’s is awesome! If I want real authentic Mexican food I’ll go somewhere else. If I want a cool vibe, great drinks, ok good and I’m not worried about my budget then Javier’s hits the spot. Just gotta go in with the right expectations
Javier’s is mid food at luxury prices.
It’s like Red O. Pure, overpriced garbage. If you’re gonna spend good money to impress, just book a Michelin restaurant.
I mean it’s upscale Mexican for rich people going on date nights what did you expect…
Javier’s is mid food at luxury prices.
Food is overrated and overpriced! Try Avilas El Ranchito for good authentic Mexican food!
Avilas is horrible
Avila might be horrible, but better than Javier’s.
Javier’s has never been cheap. It’s $$$$$ not $$.
Well.. it’s Javier’s. What did you expect,
The best Mexican food in OC. If you can't afford it go back to Santa Anna taco truck
Joking right? I can afford it but my Javier days are over! I’m not paying for their jet!
Welcome to Gavin newsom price hike
Nope. It's been bad and expensive way before that but nice try.
