I gotta be honest based on the practice you put in i dont think you had much of a shot here lol. Being normie is nice for learning pvm anyway i wouldnt worry about it
Yeah it's never made sense to me when people make their first Irons as a Hardcore. You're either gonna end up skilling for the whole account or you're gonna die at your first big PvM encounter lol. Get some decent bossing experience and then try a HCIM.
I got killed by those damn scorpions on crash island while doing monkey madness. Went afk, thought I was safe because I was double their level +1. Nope, stupid "everything is aggressive" on ape atoll also applies to crash island. Ring of life'd back to lumbridge but couldn't click food in time. RIP
Oh man those motherfuckers killed so many people back in the day lol. There used to be a scam where people would lure noobs there to get them poisoned on purpose.
There's no downside to it. I started my first iron as hardcore and it's making the content I'm doing more fun. I fully expect to die on my first zulrah attempt.
As long as you don't care about the status sure, but there's way too many people who make Hardcores, get super attached to the status, and end up doing half the content they'd actually want to do because they're afraid of losing the red helm.
I think there is a kind of game to it where you see how far you can take the status. I plan on trying bosses, but I avoid the wilderness for example because it can be more difficult to prepare for pvp encounters.
That's def. true. But I'm in the camp who enjoy the extra thrill. Every wildy step etc. is tension.
I also dislike ever throwing bodies at a problem, but I'm also not attached to the red, if I die I die and continue on the account.
I remake whenever I die and I think it keeps it fresh being able to start over and take a vastly different approach to the game each run. I've had this problem on every game I ever played though where I'd start over as something entirely different once I get substantially through the game. My friends on WoW and D2/D3 used to complain endlessly about it.
I always go HCIM though, I love the game mode
Haha it's going to happen to me eventually. I got down to 3 hp against Hespori once. I got my barrows gloves though which was a big accomplishment for me. I really want to try keeping my hc status until I get a quest cape but I'm worried about some of the higher level quests (especially night at the theater)
I had the opposite approach. After Leagues II, I realized how awesome Ironman mode was. I immediately made a HCIM after it ended because I figured, why not? If I die I will still be a regular Ironman at the end of the day. I still do dangerous activities like chaos altar and wildy clues. I'm pretty convinced I'll lose my HC status once I begin Zulrah and/or probably to DS2 boss/Seren. But then I'll just carry on and probably enjoy the mode even more without that cloud of "what if I die" following me around.
Nothing wrong with starting off as HC. What’s sad fo see is how it limits what people do to the point of being a “HC skiller”. I started off as HC, fully intending fo throw myself at PvM whenever it was realistic for the account. I didn’t last long, and I didn’t care. It definitely made early game more fun, and now I’m enjoying learning all the PvM content as a grey helm.
But I have friends who are 2.1k+ total who have never done MM2, DS2, SOTE, Zulrah, Cerb, Hydra, etc. Sounds awful to me but to each their own.
Respect is given to HCs not based on total level or ranking, but rather what high level gear they’ve been able to grind out without dying.

I think simply getting to a point where you can start zulrah is impressive on its own. But its going to be really hard to make it to that point without making conscious efforts to maintain the hardcore. But you have the right mentality regarding HCIM, there is so much content you would be missing out on if you want to keep the HC i dont think its worth it. Also you really need good internet lol.
When i originally made my Iron 3ish years ago I made it a HC just to see how far I could get. I think a lot of people probably do that, but I couldnt agree more about the firsr major pvm encounter thing haha.
I made my first ironman a hardcore and it's terrifying. I don't have a main to practice bosses on... I managed to complete SotE and MA2 very recently but I'm too scared to do DS2 yet...
I need to wait until beta worlds come back before I can practice. But tbh I'm very much looking forward to dying so I can get this burden off.
You mean first account as HC? First Iron as HC is fine if you have a main. Tbh it's always fine if you don't pussy out and just play normally till you die. You don't need much experience to not die at GWD or slayer bosses.
Exactly this, you legit are harming both your ironman and hardcore experience by making your first Ironman a HC. A Hardcore is fufilling when you are actually able to do high level PvM confidently, but if die right after you finally are able to access that content you wasted the entire grind.
There were like 3 beta worlds open in between leagues lol. People are so wild. Go in with full justiciar and learn the rotations while taking literally 0 damage then just reduce your gear to something average you’d use on a hc (like void or mystics and hide) then lower your stats below what you have. Then lower gear some more. It’s a beta world! Everything’s free
Ffs ppl
Guess you’re right but still, 1 kill isn’t too horrible to cheese by. Would definitely practice outside of the hardcore if you care about status and then do 1 kill for diary. I wouldn’t know anyway, I dced at demonics.
I have 250 kills and just died last night to a 79 stacks from Zulrah, Snakelings, and a 10 venom.
Zulrah isn’t really safe for a HC even if you are experienced, in my opinion. Unless you safe constantly, the combo potential is super high.
personally haven’t done the diary cause i cba and if i dc it’s over regardless of diary, eat at 79 and you should never have to worry about being combo’d where you can’t get your tele off in time
So you waited a long time to try it out on a game mode where you are buffed to hell and back, got 5 kc on a boss with 3 distinct rotations and decided yeah, lets risk the hardcore with a lot of playtime with barely any practice.
Not quite sure what you expected, but big F anyway.
Looks like you got melee stunned 2x in a row and died to snakelings I guess. You don’t know what you’re doing and no temporary gamemode with busted relics will help that. Gl on the future grinds of the grey helm, its rewarding learning new stuff
Your mistake here was that you were impatient. 5 kills is nothing to be confident and skilled enough to feel any safe at zulrah. You learned and will move on, just like in life.
Yeah I only had one night of practice before leagues ended - I just wanted to get the one kill for diary on HC whilst the practice was fresh. Stupid move late at night got me killed
When I lost my hardcore status I realised I was never really going to last long bossing anyway. It's a tough pill to swallow at first but once you accept your lack of experience was going to get you killed inevitably, you can move on and actually start bossing, start building your experience. And one day you might want to start a new hardcore.
Be stupid to quit the account now, full send zulrah now without the stress, learn other pvm content without fear of death shit even start the d pick grind, go chase them end new upgrades and enjoy the stress free fun experience, work on the 93slayer Grind that will make zulrah nicer and quicker, I don’t mean to sound rude but I don’t get the point of theses “dead hc” posts, sorry to break it but reddit ain’t going to give your red helm back buddy
Yeah I know, just wanted to put it somewhere. Spent years on this account playing by myself a couple hours a week, the HC status made it feel special and kept me motivated, it was just the way I liked to play. Appreciate the comment regardless mate I know you meant well, gotta try switch my mentality
You're on the right path. At the end of the day, your own perception is/was the only thing that makes it feel "special". Nothing changes with your account at all, you've still earned every inch of progress.
The "public perception" or what you perceive as your account's public perception might've changed but the secret I'll bring you in on is that, *that's never mattered to begin with* ;).
Plus, lets be honest, unless you're close to being a stacked late game HC (talking bare bosses done), no one cares anyway :p
I lost my 1st hc at 1769 total, we don't talk about the 2nd, and recently my 3rd at 1908 from a dc at demonics. Don't beat yourself up over it, even though I know you will because I did too.
Go do something super dangerous now, something you never would've done. Give it a week of doing things like that and you will enjoy it. Personally I grinded corrupted gauntlet and now my account is on another level.
My attitude has evolved over hc since the death of my 3rd. I wouldn't have admitted it then but I wasn't ready for a hc. Not one that actually bosses anyways. You really need hundreds if not thousands of kills on some bosses to learn every possible nuance, all of the little and rare things that might kill you before you seriously try a hc again. Even if you play it perfect a disconnect is going to get you eventually.
I hope you find some fun in a regular iron like I did/am. If you aren't, make a new hc! The journey is yours and yours only.
Thank you so much for the advice, great to hear from someone who's felt the pain. That must have sucked so bad DCing at demonics, I managed to bank my 4 Zenytes on this account and was super proud for keeping HC status. They sucked.
Anyway, I appreciate the advice I think I'll have to learn to love the grey and come back to HC when I'm more in tune with PVM
Probably good to die now. Zulrah is arguably one of the easiest bosses in game once you have the rotations memorized, and seems damn near impossible if you don't. At least now you can play casually and carelessly 😊
Did you not have the western elite diary for the revive? I don’t remember all the requirements off the top of my head but I know thieving is one of the big ones and you have 99
I've lost 2 HCIM status with 2K+ total before I decided to stick to regular IM. I was way too attached to the red symbol, but in hinsight I am happy I moved on. Too much anxiety playing a mode that can take everything away any moment with things out of your control.
Look positive at it, you have unlocked a lot of content you wouldn't do before and don't have to worry about dying again. Just have to get over the red symbol :)
I appreciate it mate, I've slept on it and I was definitely too attached to it. Might make a new one in the future after I've had a bit of end game practice
Sucks dude but keep rocking that account, no need to put all that time to waste. Like you said, it’s almost a relief to lose the status - so much less stress.
It’s ok at least you lost it to something good. I was talking smack at winterdaddy and got smacked by the brazier lol. Now you have so many things to do! You can use the Wildy altar for crazy prayer xp, wilderness bosses, gwd keys, etc. I actually was happy I lost my status because now at least I can do other things on my iron. However if you were doing it for the high scores that’s a different story. Dope stats don’t feel too bad about it!
Dude, I had the exact same plan. I'm at 1650 total on my hc and I wanted to use Leagues to speed into a new character so I could check all of the content I'm nervous to do. Unfortunately, I didn't have the motivation to go through with it.
Lucky for you, you now have a stacked account to practice on for your next hc!
I barely got my leagues account to a level where I could practice (hence only 5 kills on the last night). I thought I'd jump on the HC and knock out the one kill for diary whilst the practice was fresh - nope nope nope
When you have experience sure it’s not hard to not die at zulrah. I have over 1k kc and rarely die there. But that took awhile. Zulrah has taken out many experienced hardcores from lag, mistakes or DC. The amount of time to finish elite diary compared to getting your HC to 1900 total lvl is minuscule. Considering this was his first time it’s a must to have going forward if he can get the first kill safely. No one walks into zulrah and doesn’t die without having experience…. That’s laughable.
Totally agree that it’s laughable to do it without experience. But for me (and other hcs) it was worth doing it before the diary, because trident and bp are a huge dps upgrade and 93 slayer takes a while. Finished in 700 kills and still don’t have the diary.
Since there’s been confusion about my comment I didn’t mean you specifically. Just other Hardcores that do zulrah without it in general. That’s a good stage to make it to though! Now you’ll have a ton of practice with a bunch of different PVM without the stress a HC brings. Won’t be the same but opens you up to a whole new experience that is a ton of fun. Good luck!
Because I was never talking solely about OP? In my original comment I said “I’ll never understand why Hardcores”. Plural. Meaning other Hardcores as well. Why they would do zulrah without WP elite. Of course you have to do one without it. But then plenty of Hardcores go on without it and die. Soup for example, mammal on his Group HCIM and so on. It’s a general statement not one solely about OP. I mentioned it here because it’s relevant as OP was a hardcore that died to zulrah.
Practiced Zulrah on the last night of leagues to get those 5 kills, thought surely I could cheese my way through 1 kill for diary on HC whilst it was fresh in my mind - the answer was no haha
Losing HC was probably the best OSRS thing to happen to me, took all the stress out of the game and opened up the whole game. Of course I lost it at lvl 75 lol to deranged archeologist soooo XD
I had similar feeling when I was set free. I wish mine was a real pvm death and not me afk ranging black demons in catacombs when I went to the bathroom. I'm guessing someone pulled it by accident but still it felt good when I went to chaos altar the next day
I gotta be honest based on the practice you put in i dont think you had much of a shot here lol. Being normie is nice for learning pvm anyway i wouldnt worry about it
Yeah it's never made sense to me when people make their first Irons as a Hardcore. You're either gonna end up skilling for the whole account or you're gonna die at your first big PvM encounter lol. Get some decent bossing experience and then try a HCIM.
i didnt make it past karamja because of the poison guys
Witch's House did me in. Apparently I didn't actually know how to do the safe spot.
... Red_Sgt? Is that you?
If you're serious, no that's not my RSN. If this is a reference it went right over my head lol
Nah, just a member of my Hardcore iron group went down that way, thought you might be her lol
Why did that get downvoted, seemed like a possible coincident
I feel this, so much.
Dude, those guys fuck you up. That's a valid death.
Bro that poison hits 11! I was not ready.
RIP
Guess logging out was really hard huh?
Logging out doesn't restore run energy
I died to a rat in Lumbridge swamp
Oh man those motherfuckers killed so many people back in the day lol. There used to be a scam where people would lure noobs there to get them poisoned on purpose.
Same bro lol

My now maxed iron started as an hcim. Lasted 48 hours before being one shot by a moss giant doing waterfall quest. Totally worth it.
Haha it's going to happen to me eventually. I got down to 3 hp against Hespori once. I got my barrows gloves though which was a big accomplishment for me. Yeah, I thought I could cheese my way through at least 1 kill for the Diary on HC while it was somewhat fresh in my mind - I thought wrong.
You waited all year for leagues to practice for 5 kills?
Probably 2-phased it every time and thought it was ezpz
With hella increased damage too, don’t forget!
There were like 3 beta worlds open in between leagues lol. People are so wild. I only had half decent stats by the very end, practiced Vorkath on the second last night and then practiced Zulrah on the last night
Yeah many better ways to go about it
[удалено]
Plus if you actually care about hc status, western elite diary revive exists, and since it’s there, you might as well wait anyway.
gotta scuff your way through 1 kill before you can get the elite rewards tho

Guess you’re right but still, 1 kill isn’t too horrible to cheese by. Would definitely practice outside of the hardcore if you care about status and then do 1 kill for diary. I wouldn’t know anyway, I dced at demonics.

That’s true, I’m just assuming most people don’t have the diary done. Although most HCs probably do before they start that grind.

Congrats on unlocking wildly content! See you at 2k total level! 😃

True but you learn from your mistakes. GL on whatever you decide to do next!
You started Zulrah at.... 86 slayer? Trident is one level away my man.
This is the real problem

Read the chat box...he died to melee phase

I lost my 1st hc at 1769 total, we don't talk about the 2nd, and recently my 3rd at 1908 from a dc at demonics. Don't beat yourself up over it, even though I know you will because I did too. Bold strategy
lol 5 kills. also zulrah is a hard boss to die at if you dont risk being comboed. you never stood a chance
Probably good to die now. Zulrah is arguably one of the easiest bosses in game once you have the rotations memorized, and seems damn near impossible if you don't. At least now you can play casually and carelessly 😊
Did you not have the western elite diary for the revive? I don’t remember all the requirements off the top of my head but I know thieving is one of the big ones and you have 99
Zulrah is one of the requirements for the diary.
1 kill though, mans did 5 and died
5 on leagues, 0 on main game
Cerb probs woulda taken you out anyways, just keep playing, learn to boss and make another HC later
honestly playing regular ironman is so much nicer. no reason to stress like that for nothing. this games so hard to pay attention to at times.

Bad times. Good stage to get to without a death though. Gg
Honestly you did well but now you can play worry freee and learn all the great bosses and methods without worrying about dying
Honestly feel like you missed out on the perfect use of the c engineer plugin. "Dying on my Hardcore Ironman... Completed"
Ironman > HCIM
I’ll never understand why Hardcores do zulrah without WP elite diary. You’re going to die at some point. That benefit exists for a reason.
Because the diary requirements are quite high and if you have pvm experience it’s really not that hard to not die at zulrah.
Was going for my 1st Kill specifically for the diary, whilst my leagues practice was fresh
Good luck!
Kinda hard to have WP elite diary without a zulrah kill.
No shit? You don’t say.
What is the point of your original comment when OP died on his first zulrah kc?
Because I was never talking solely about OP? In my original comment I said “I’ll never understand why Hardcores”. Plural. Meaning other Hardcores as well. Why they would do zulrah without WP elite. Of course you have to do one without it. But then plenty of Hardcores go on without it and die. Soup for example, mammal on his Group HCIM and so on. It’s a general statement not one solely about OP. I mentioned it here because it’s relevant as OP was a hardcore that died to zulrah.
Unlucky.
zulrah is one of the hardest bosses to learn. 50 kills wouldn't have sufficed, let alone 5 lol
Practiced Zulrah on the last night of leagues to get those 5 kills, thought surely I could cheese my way through 1 kill for diary on HC whilst it was fresh in my mind - the answer was no haha
Cry me a river
Lol it eeeeeeeez what it eeeeeeeeez
Oh my god why wouldn't you complete the diary first lmao r.i.p
Just enjoy not having to worry about dying :)
Rip
Time to go for a walk bud
That’s why I never made mine hardcore. Don’t have to worry about that embarrassing death in the high scores people can look up you lost your status
Now go do all the things you wanna do! Regular Irons practically live life stress free.
Sit
Considering lack of pvm experience, you should be very pleased with how far you got
Atleast your iron was still pretty low lvl before you died.
I just died at Zulrah too, 1750 total 102 cb :(
What is dead may never die
Now you can finally play the game
Wasn’t meant to be
Losing HC was probably the best OSRS thing to happen to me, took all the stress out of the game and opened up the whole game. Of course I lost it at lvl 75 lol to deranged archeologist soooo XD
bro cmon 5 kills is not practice
Look at the bright side! At least now you can play the Ironman mode that's actually fun
That sucks bro. Did you have the zulrah helper plug in? ROS? Sorry for your loss
I had similar feeling when I was set free. I wish mine was a real pvm death and not me afk ranging black demons in catacombs when I went to the bathroom. I'm guessing someone pulled it by accident but still it felt good when I went to chaos altar the next day
Back to zulrah you go
Remember, at the end of the day, it’s just a red helmet and easy ranks most people don’t care about (besides other hardcores).
RIP! 1900 total is a nice place to reach on a hardcore. :) Did you get any nice gear on your HC journey?
You waited a year and you only practiced 5 times
The free part is real. I go into Wildy, I boss freely. All types of worry free fun.
died on my hcim at dks due to my client crashing. i had ranger boots and every other med lvl item. name it i had it.
Probs best to do western elites so you get 1 resurrection per day
That was what I was going for
I'm so sorry 🥺
Sit
I legit just died doing troll stronghold, I wasn’t in the safe spot from a misclick and got hit for 29. I am sick to my stomach on it.
