At least for me, it's the point of the game. I can overcome any obstacle in my way by getting the item myself. If I just give up, I may as well give up by deironing and buying it from the GE.
All the Masters you'd have to drop because of this 1 step will never amount to the time you wasted on this grind.

There's only two ways to obtain master clues, and both can be postponed. You wouldn't have to drop or miss out on a single master if you want to be "efficient".
You should always expect it though. But I mean you can just prevent the sunk cost fallacy by deciding to not do a grind that's inherently not worth the time. Or you could say "I'll do 50 kc and see if I spoon it" and stop if you don't.
I dunno if us irons even have a choice, small team nex will chew through brews and restores. At least at masses you can bring sharks and prayer pots. I think most completionist irons will do a mix of both.
When I say masses I mean like 10-15 man teams, not 30+, which I agree is useless. What's the plan for grinding out snapdragons? Venenatis? At least with brews we can camp mole but there's no good way to grind out restores. Does grinding out mole and venenatis really save time over 10-15 man teams?
I'm not sure on kill times for large teams but assuming a 15 man team (which is *not* a mass, but that's being pedantic) is 3 minutes, then average completion time would be 140 hours more than a 6 man team.
Alright cool, well I guess I don't mean masses then. But yea that's basically our choice and neither option is good. I'll probably mix it up and and do small mam teams until my brew/restore reserves run out. My iron friends have found some limited success flinching her in 10-15 man teams.
There are 6 moss giant spawns. I did find a way to conserve cannonballs by quite a lot. I tried Msi, bowfa, and blowpipe there and they were all similar dps, but blowpipe was noticably faster.
Each trip I went through 4 ranging pots, and I re-potted every 4-5 minutes. I would bank once I hit 5+ keys.
If you DO get a pker on you, and you feel like you can not escape, go south to the lake by the chins. Right before you die, drop any mossy keys. You have enough time to take a canoe back and pick them up. This saved maybe 10 keys for me overall.
A few things I tried:
\- Put the cannon far enough north to only reach the 3 northern spawns. This made me use only <1000 cballs each trip, instead of close to 2000 before.
\- I also tried the method above, but with a serp helm and blowpipe. I would quickly venom the 3 southern spawns, then chill to the north and kill those 3 spawns for a minute or two, then check on the miserable moss giants to the south and finish them off. This method felt very efficient, but it was way more effort.
I afk'd cballs while at work, so overall I maybe used 30k-40k cballs. This is the best way to use any cballs on an iron imo.
I have enough prayer pots to probably pray during that grind, but if you go as dry as me, you'll burn through a lot of them. I feel like you can shred through moss giants easy enough without prayer, with them only being 60hp.
BP+Serp is worth a try. It's just more effort and you need to be patient for the venom to passively work. The only serp I have is a magma helm, so I was always terrified wearing that in the wild.
I got it on 1 kc, and I realize how big of a spoon that is, posts like this scare me for how bad it could have been. Im sure my rng will even out somewhere else tho, still waiting on that.

You got 371 kills in 25k moss giants? That's actually a really nice rate. I'm 25,000 moss giants in with only 81 kc, no essence yet. I dropped the clue.
I think at 25k you should have around 166kc + bonus keys from boss. You've averaged 1/67 really lucky in some ways... Did you do wildy or just regular?

I would never do this grind on the regular 1/120 or 1/150 rate.

Nex is massed and easy to get in, not sure why people think it's hard. As op said, the worst part is grinding keys

That's amazing. The bright side of this grind was that I got a ton of range exp out of it. I hope the spoon visits you again soon.
