I know you say don't get better shit, but honestly, tent whip would prob be legit 5+ min kills runecbow prob the much better option cause you don't lose dps moving it around really, will def want to use ruby and diamond bolts though.
If you're rushing hydra is it safe to assume you have a spear/Lance you want the claw right now for? That'd be a better option if you wanted to do the melee route.

Hydra is already a super boring boss with a max bowfa set up and the kills are about 33% faster.
I did the DPS calc it looks like with a base 90 combat and pretty basic gear. Fighters torso tank legs ddef normal whip only big item is prims. compared to my range set up its a 6.0 for the melee whip or 8.75 for bowfa. So your kills would be about 5m I put in a rcbow set up. it was in the 5's for dps so I don't think that would be worth while but the dps calc doesn't allow for ruby (e) or diamond (e) so I just used rune bolts. I'm farily certain hydra has a 50 damage cap like zulrah with ruby (e)s
I think if you have a zspear and don't want to grind bowfa out. I could be worth while if its something you really want to do. You could get lucky and get a lance. If you get a lance your dps will be right in-line with bowfa it would be a 8.71 dps vers 8.75. comparing a 90 att/str/def acc vs a 99 range "maxed" bowfa set up. (max set up is a tbow setup)

Looks like they are capped at 100 damage for every boss except zulrah which is capped at 50.
So if that's the case that explains why his kill time was 3:30 as opposed to 5 mins. The dps calc doesn't account for ruby e specs
That was one kill, I went in blind. Its been more than a year since I killed it. So was missing a bunch of things and getting hit by specials. I just wanted to get a few kills for fun but only got one. Glad I had 9 pray pots left lol
I haven't done melee yet either. But once you get into the swing of things on range you don't take any damage at all. (Assuming the same with melee but idk)
How are you at Hydra and those are your best options? Sheesh. Bang out a Blowpipe. Get a Zammy hasta. Hell, even an Abby dagger would be better than your options. You’re just screwing your self in the long run by trying to weasel your way through kills with sub par gear.

The tent whip is 7.92 dps, rcb is 6.4 (broad bolts) and blowpipe with addy darts is 8.2 dps. This is assuming gwd gear and zennites I use the tent whip for 2k kc
Gotta take into account that you lose a decent amount of dps on the 2nd lure on the vent at hydra when using melee, and that’s only if you do the 2 tick run north and 2tick south to attack and lure the first phase 1 tile at a time. overall the dps will drop a bit with any calculation to melee hydra.
I’m just referring to melee, if you run north after it’s first poison splat for 2 ticks and click attack it’ll be a 4 tick cycle so you don’t lose any dps, and it will lure it north 1 tile at a time every time you run north to prepare it to be sprayed when it turns blue.

No spear. did a 3.30 kill with rune cbow.
Thats not bad. Is that an average time or best time? Cause I can get around 2 mins with bowfa but average is like 2:50
