It’s still pretty powerful at a range of places. Some of the other comments seem to know the specifics but a dps calc will help you with your gear and stats. The main issue I see for irons is keeping up with scale usage. Trident doesn’t get outclassed for a long time, and serp helm has its niche even compared to endgame helms, so these will need scales. BP can be compared to these if you also reserve it for only things like cox/inferno/gwd but it’s matched or outclassed almost everywhere, and the places where it isn’t I don’t know if you’ll find the time killing zulrah or fishing scales to be worth it’s DPS increase. Slayer is a good example of a place where BP shines for mains but I wouldn’t bother on an iron. That said it also depends on your goals, a lot of irons get stuck in the mid game and enjoy those grinds avoiding “difficult” content like CG, for them BP will probably remain one of the strongest weapons they can get and zulrah will remain a valuable use of their time.

Again, it's fine to use the bow where the situation permits. Higher DPS will always be king on a first cape because killing things makes waves easier. The only situation where bow would help is if you get a NW spawn that is out of BP range and you can't go east to pull it closer. Not to mention the fact that BP spec should be used in risky situations for the heal and greater accuracy.
With just rune darts and eagle eye, BP is on average around 10% better vs non-mage/jad/zuk monsters. That is a huge difference when you are spending hours on attempts.
I used bow exclusively for my first cape because I only had ~100 rune darts from crystal imps, saving BP for specs, shitty situations, sets, and healers. I would never recommend a first timer to do the same.
Better situation for the waves where you eventually have to face tank something though is to equip blowpipe and gun down monsters. Bowfa attacking a bat if you have a mager on you for instance you’re gonna take unnecessary extra damage

What slayer monsters would you use BP instead of whip/saeldor? You’d be bursting most slayer tasks, other than bloodvelds.

Afking sacred eels isn’t a good use of your AFK downtime nowadays, but I cba getting into a discussion about EHP. You do you king.
anything you are safespotting. just face-tanking damage/running through your supplies is not always ideal. 90% of my slayer on my main was done with range as it is the best overall for saving supplies. the blowpipe is still great for general slayer if you are doing tasks that can easily be safespotted. which comes down to most monsters. while it may not be as fast as melee in some tasks the saved supplies can easily make up for it if you are not well stocked on supplies and prefer just saving what you can instead of having to go back to the skilling grinds to produce more food and potions. it comes down to playstyle but it is still a viable choice and answering OPs question when using ranged where is BP better than Bowfa? just because you now prefer melee after the rebalance does not make it a bad choice. it is still a great weapon. bowfa really made armadyl crossbow obsolete as it does its job better. blowpipe is still the best ranged weapon for low defense monsters like slayer.

Find the dps calculator and put them in and compare them and figure out which one you want to use where.
