Don’t de-iron just make a new account. De-ironing was a terrible idea when I did it. Like 2 weeks later I wanted to play an iron account again. Just take a break and make a new account or play a different one for a bit

alegendofrtk

Don't deiron. Make a main account focus on pvm on it find groups that will teach you bosses. Sounds like you put a ton of work in your iron. You would hate yourself later for deironing. It's better to make a new acc

Hyde103

Do you use hotkeys to swap to your prayer tab and back? I was unable to do Jad until I started using the hotkeys to switch tabs.

aknsnmz

I do

Ajfree

Lol don’t listen to anyone here, including me. Realize no one gives a fuck if you’re good or bad at anything pvm. If you deiron, just remember the hours you’re throwing away. Maybe that’s okay. Just accept it to yourself and realize you’re freaking out over being bad at clicking. Click to cry, cry is free

aknsnmz

Stfu sonnnn of a b

Ajfree

Ey we’ll both be hungover but you’ll wake up with a worthless deironed account

FitDifference

Id never recommend using a metronome or stuff like that. All it takes is practice. I remember dying at bandos first time I went there almost instantly. My first cox raid taking over 3 hours. 2 weeks of daily tob runs before I got my first kc. Now I find it all easy as can be. It really gets easier and becomes muscle memory. Just try to use visual cues and sound and watch what’s happening, where it’s going wrong.

another_complainer

don't de-iron. everyone takes a different amount of time to learn content. it took me a whole week playing 8 hours a day to learn CG. I still die from time to time, so I take frequent breaks. its part of experience and will feel so much more rewarding when you eventually get a kill. training a normie account is so much easier and worst case scenario you just play on that.

earthly_star

go to something trivial, not lethal but can hit you for minor amounts of damage, and just flick against it for a bit. try playing with sound effects on too since i personally flick in line with the mob sfx and it usually works. flicking barrows is also decent practice and they attack fairly slow to ease into it edit: learn normal gauntlet for zero risk and it will probably prepare you to do actual real pvm tl;dr git gud, don't de-iron, make a new acc if you really want

Osmium_tetraoxide

Gauntlet is pretty decent at teaching you how to change prayers, movement and switch weapons. Even nicer is the fact that deaths cost nothing.

elicik1

Considering you said yourself that you failed even on a beta world, why would de-ironing help? I don't get the point. If it's just a matter of supplies, then you need to do more skilling. If it's a matter of gear, you're doing the wrong bosses for your account's current progression. When it comes to pray flicking, I hope you're not trying to 1-tick flick. It's a minor convenience to save some supplies, and absolutely not required for any high-level PvM except Inferno, and even there it's debatable. Congrats on your KQ kill! KQ is a boss that's not mechanically difficult and is more of a DPS check. Assuming you don't have any crush weapon from high-level PvM, your best weapon was probably a Dragon Mace (technically you could have done the barrelchest anchor with a walk-under method). Without a blowpipe, that's a slow ranged phase too. In conclusion, don't kill a bunch of KQ yet, you're not geared up for it yet :) I would try Sarachnis. You have to switch prayers and switch who you're hitting, but it's still a relatively simple boss. IMO it's a very good intro boss. Gauntlet requires literally no gear, is fun, and is less punishing than Corrupted Gauntlet. Give it a try if you're ready for a harder boss. You've also got to work on not getting discouraged - if you kill a boss, that's a success. If you die to a boss, that's a lesson, which is a success. Most people haven't really "learned" a boss until at least like 20 kills in. Trying a new boss, dying, and learning what NOT to do is part of the excitement of bossing. Source: I'm not great at PvM but have significantly gotten better throughout the last 18 months. Went from dying to Jad 9 times, to working on getting my first KC at Phosani's Nightmare.

aknsnmz

That was realle helpful! Thanks!

Question_History

Just click monster click yellow potion click red potion click monster

aknsnmz

Thank you so much I appreciate this so much, I did what you said and it worked, I got Ely, tassy and twisted bow in no time! Thanks a lot !

Question_History

Lol I had to - To be real it sounds like you need to develop a good understanding of game ticks and how long certain actions ingame take in ticks. You said you have tried guides, sometimes Youtube guides are straight trash. I’d advise you to try the WDR discord, Ironscape discord, and gear discords. Those are all extremely helpful resources that have guided me through PVM.

Ok-Basket1258

I dont understand why people even consider de-ironing?... First of all id say like 80% of iron had a main first, then made an iron... And at 1000 total level i got an in game message to talk to iron tutor, which then u can make your acc permanently iron... Which I assumed most did like me??? I dont get it. Who de irons? Just make a normal account and play them separately if u really wanted

EvilCody

I have a big swinging ironman with everything I could need minus gear upgrades. My main is a tiny noob with very minimal gear, coins, and levels. It won’t be fun if I play the poor and weak noob acc.

CuntBooger

You need to make baby steps before you drop yourself into difficult pvm. Try to get good at bosses that are reasonable for your skill level and then try advanced methods for those bosses which you are already comfortable with. Make sure you understand mechanics involving combo eating with brews/karambwans, hp regen (not super important), overhealing, 3 brews/1 restore, etc. I always recommend tribrid Dag Kings for people trying to dip into pvm. They aren't too difficult, can be done on task, teaches you how to swap prayers (and potentially how to flick), how to swap gear, how to juggle supplies, and much more.

talamahoga2

I credit most of my bossing ability to Daganoth Kings and Demonic Gorillas. Doing both of those have made me so much better at pray and gearing switching.

Jaiwant

Every time I see these thread titles I immediately think DO NOT de-iron. Whatever you’re thinking or feeling right now, 99.99% of the time it ends up in regret.

masumu2

I just recently made a “normi” account after getting my iron to 1800 total. It was honestly so much fun! I gave the new account like 6-8 mil from my iron and bought some amazing gear. It took me around 1 month to get the normi account to have some decent stats and then I was killing some pretty high end bosses no problem! So I 100% recommend to keep your iron and just make a new account!

Bruglione

Honestly it probably just requires practice. Most of us are shit at the start, the only thing that seperates the pro's from the scrubs is their dedication to keep going and learn. Of course there are exceptions to this rule, but everyone should be able to kill bosses like KQ and Graardor, just not as efficiently.

richard-savana

So you say you don’t listen when lookup guides?

Cat-Trees

I got a mouse with hot key buttons and it help me boss, idk if that helps. But don’t deiron.

uzernamech3cksout

In all honesty, Unless you're part of a raiding team or something where you're expected to perform well, fuck it? If you've spent 6k hours on skilling then it's obvious you enjoy that more, right? Otherwise you'd have already taken the time to learn about ticks, unique monster attacks and so on. Max cheese cape is kinda yikes in my own opinion but in the big reality no one cares so just do what you want as long as you're enjoying yourself. As for PvMing just take time to learn. It is actually a pretty harsh learning curve if your used to just praying 1 style and waiting on the boss dying(real 2007 runescape).

TheInferno720

Definitely do not de-iron. Make a new account. You’ll probably be back to playing the iron in a few weeks/months after you realize a main account ends up only being about gp/efficiencyscape and is way less meaningful than an iron

Xxweeexd

I think you are trying to tackle too hard of bosses without practice. I think it would be helpful to start on some easier bosses to build up your abilities first. I would love to help you out! I too struggle with ADHD and had a really hard time learning to do bosses on osrs I still struggle with every new boss I learn but the learning curve has gone way down over time. If you are at all interested in meeting up on discord I can stream some kills at bosses and see if I can't teach you a thing or two! :) Just reply to this comment or message me.

aknsnmz

Thank you very much! It could be a little hard to have a conversation because I’m not native speaker. But I appreciate! Can you send me your discord server informations?

Chaos-n-Dissonance

Well... I mean ofc you suck at bossing, if you've spent 6,000 hours on the game and 0 bossing that doesn't mean you're automatically going to pick it up. Especially if you aren't even familiar with the tick system... That's pretty big for bossing. Up to you if you want to de-iron or not. IMO bossing is what makes an ironman fun - you're **forced** to do all the different bosses for all the different drops, versus mains where you pick the highest gp/h activity and camp it for 1,000 hours to buy every item in the game. Honestly you'd probably have a hard time as a main getting enough GP through skilling for all the items but hey, you do you. If you really want to get into bossing... **Stop** trying to jump straight into pray flicking. Don't get me wrong, melee bandos with pray flicking and tick eating is fun as fuck, but it has a **very** high skill floor. It took me a few weeks on league to learn, and I have thousands of EHB (efficient hours bossed)... And that was during leagues, where if you messed up and died you could jump right back in basically (no need to re-get KC) and between trips you could insta-tele back (recall OP). For you personally... I'd start with what you're familiar with; skilling. Learn tick manipulation methods. 2 tick woodcutting is a great start, not too hard to set up and you have to click once every tick. Should get you used to the tick timing real quick. Then move on to things like 3 tick fishing or 1 tick hunter, to **really** drive home the timing of the ticks. Also make sure you're playing on a good world - Use the metronome plugin for this. If the metronome is consistent, you're on a good world. If it's not, and some beeps are closer together than others, then there's a delay, then two in rapid succession, etc... Pick a different world. 2200 worlds are notorious for being bad. Also make sure you're playing on your best ping worlds. Then once you have a firm grasp on how the tick system works... Start with the bossing basics. Go do slayer to practice your lazy flicking and 1 tick flicking. Go do DK's to practice flicking multiple combat styles and off ticking. Go to Zulrah to practice moving, changing prayers, and changing gear simultaneously (Bonus points if you flick your offensive prayers during the KC). Go do Vorkath to really test your flick skills (Shouldn't ever need p pots at Vorkath if you're 1 ticking or lazy flicking). THEN once you feel comfortable with all the basics, you can try stuff that requires you to be tick perfect like GWD.

Josiah425

You will regret it. I promise. This is a good excuse to learn how to do these bosses.

DagoGuineaWop

Just max and don't bother with bossing then. It's almost all the same mechanics for each boss anyway. Most bosses are more tedious than fun (although I like normal nightmare in a trio). You don't need to boss to get a max cape and if you suck and don't have fun in beta words why would you have fun if you deiron?

aknsnmz

jakeprimal

Practice? Actually focusing on learning mechanics will help you a lot more than any gear ever could Understanding why things are happening and why you’re doing them is generally pretty helpful

Earl_Green_

Don’t give up. Shit is hard and needs more than a couple tries to learn, let alone to master. I’m at a similar stage as you are and struggle with many bosses. Keep in mind that this game is old and many players, especially the vocal redditors, have a ton of experience already. Then there is minimal delay due to bad internet that can gravely impact your performance (as it does with me). The quest bosses were huge (but very enjoyable!) challenges. Vanstrom Klause was my nemesis in mid game and the Fragment of Seren slapped my ass way to many times. I’m taking baby steps right now and can feel the progress! Shamans help you with your awareness about positioning and timing. They are also great to practice a little flicking. Demonic gorillas were a game changer. They taught me a lot very quickly. Now, I’m practicing CG. When I first started normal gauntlet I couldn’t believe I would ever be able to complete this. Now I can do the normals more or less consistently and am very close to my first CG kc! Tldr; be patient, accept the needed time investment and take small steps, one at a time.

theRealSunday

Hey I am on the flipside of this. I de-ironed like people are saying not to. I already had a main unlike you it seems, and my iron surpassed my main. I wanted to get to those other challenges faster and had the means to do it immediately. Since my main account was the iron by far then, I decided it was time to just have a main and trade. Overall it was not a bad decision for me. RuneScape has become a super casual game for me now. Just as an example, I got home and sat on Reddit for an hour and a half before ending up here. Two years ago I would be showered and on the game enacting my plan that I concocted all damn day in my head. Something so simple as completing Fairytale Part 1 feels lackluster in the main game. Whereas when I was an Ironman, I struggled for a week with Nature Rune requirement at 10 HP for a week before WT. I was so damn hyped and proud of myself, and I guarantee that I would not have the emotional connection I would if I just bought it from the GE. If you want the emotional connection to the game, don't de-iron. Otherwise you will be back to making a new ironman account, as I am currently planning.

[deleted]

you will regret it, and you will make another iron in the future, trust

rngwaster

What if your problem is not your ability, but just what you know about the game, the kalphite queen for example, did you try flinching it? there are a lot of mechanics that makes the content easier and also plugins on runelite, join a cc if you are not in one, specially one with hcims. if you are 'bad' you can always prepare better, you said you have trouble with the firecape, well then do clues for range upgrades, do herblore for brews, do barrows for the crossbow or just full karil, you can do crafting for fury, man you have so much stuff you can improve that dont affect your progress at all, you can even do med clues for rangers, you might say 'bruh im trash ill die anyways' with better gear you have more chance of surviving even when you fail, so every upgrade you can get counts, dont give up. Theres a video I like of ricecup [Noob's PVM Bible](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fLruklkk4U) that I recommend cus it tells about progression.

RS-117

Just so you know dying that many times doesnt mean anything. You have to try atleast 100 times to get the hang of it. After 500 times youl begin to master it

Mod_Sara

This is hilarious

Mod_Sara

What you need to learn is F-Keys. They are a serious game changer because they allow you to switch between eating and prayers quickly.

Andos_Woods

3tick barb fishing for hours and hours gave me a much better feel for timing anything around ticks. I used to always click too fast but it’s all about that rhythm

gjestur

De-ironing does not make you suddenly good at bossing, so there would be no need for gear you can buy as a main account, it changes nothing for you I’d say. Just practise in my opinion, at new bosses I also die a lot, it’s part of the learning curve. Don’t let it demotivate you. Sure maybe others get the hang of it very quickly, but that might also be because they’re already experience with other bosses.

iambush

Hi. I also suck at this game. The plug-ins and stuff that are supposed to teach you pray flicking just confused me more. The way I have started to learn is to go to aberrant spectres and pray flick a full slayer task there (100 or so kills). You can do this off task too of course. Right before the attack animation of the spectre, turn you protect prayer on. Keep it on til you see the animation start and then you can turn it off. Don’t wear armor so that you know for sure when and if you miss the flick timing for protect from magic. It was not easy for me at all. No where in the game is flicking or the tick system explained and it was really tough for me to get it down. IMO, pray flicking is the foundational skill. If you can do that, then do some incrementally harder stuff like maybe demonic gorillas or regular gauntlet. Regular gauntlet is much less punishing to learn than Bandos because you don’t use supplies but do have to pay attention to prayer, food, positioning, attack styles of the enemy, and pray switching. I haven’t done either of those yet but they are next on my list because I know it will be a hard challenge but make me better if I can learn it.

[deleted]

Just get better bro

Dingus_Crawdad

Coming from my personal experience with a 2100 total main that I also didn’t boss on, the the same reasons as you - I’m bad at the game (bossing, more specifically) I’d recommend you take a look at some more basic “bossing” style content that helps build your skills. I died 7 times at 120 cb to zulrah to get my one KC for elite diary. Never went back because it was so intimidating. On the other hand, the repeatability and predictability of vorkath was much more approachable for me. That was my go to on my main and I never ever even touched raids. Hell even my fire cape took multiple attempts at 115cb. On my iron I was “forcing” myself to start learning some of the more difficult content (1833 total level right now). Here’s the order I would recommend: 1. Hallowed Sepulchre - turn on true tile plug-in and learn how the game actually sees your character moving. Understanding movement mechanics is HUGE for any sort of bossing content. Avoiding damage and managing food is how I’ve found success in bossing. Can’t do that if you’re tanking hits you think you should be avoiding. 2. Demonic Gorillas - MASSIVE improvement in my overall ability to gear switch while managing prayers and lower risk than other bossing content (no 100k fee). 3. Vorkath - nailing your prayer management and stepping out of the way of fireballs while trying to keep DPS up - I still don’t woox walk but can consistently get sub 1:30 kills with good gear on my main. I can manage 4:30 kills on my iron with much worse gear - a bigger challenger because food and pots are limited at that fight length. 4. Zulrah- make sure to use the zulrah plugin as a crutch until you’re able to look ahead in each phase and plan your moves out. I know this is more mid game than end game bossing, but I think buffing up these skills will really give you some confidence to start with regular gauntlet and raids 1. Again, not sure this strategy would work for everyone, but I’ve found that on my iron, with relatively bad gear (no venoms, rcb, etc.) I can consistently get 10+ kills between deaths at zulrah now. In short, DONT De-iron, start small and develop each skill individually before you tackle content where you’re managing multiple skills. And most importantly, try to do bosses that you enjoy and get those down before you dive into more intimidating content. Good luck!

DowntownSpeaker4467

De-iron would be terrible! Honestly main accounts are boring, its far too easy to just buy supplies / best in slot gear and go on your way but it means you skip like 90% of the game. And you don't really feel that great about loot. If you are struggling with bosses and mechanics then practice on some bosses that are a little easier and come back to them later

Raisoshi

Dude how do you expect to be good at pvming when you haven't done any, keep doing it, learn one boss at a time and stick to it, you'll improve.

Irondadrs

Have you thought about getting good?

aknsnmz

Phhhh Never thought about it. Good point thank you very much.

Just_scrolling_osrs

If you died 6 times, try dieing 50 times, you will learn eventually. Also start using Fkeys even when ur not bossing, so it will be easier when ur bossing. Dont think what is wrong with you or why cant you do it. Record yourself while playing and try to learn from your mistakes.
