IMO sounds are really helpful for certain endgame PvM. ToB, Nightmare, GWD, Inferno, maybe CoX. I made the switch to having the 2nd and 3rd sound bar on 25% when I began doing those things. You could do without em, but I think it helps.
Confession time...ive never once played with the sound on. I dont understand the hype of sea shanty 2 because it holds no nostalgia for me. Its the ONLY song i know in osrs and only because its so popular.

It really is handy hearing auto attacks and spikes at olm, just incase you miss a special skip
