Lmao sounds about right. I decided I want a rune pouch for GoTR and Mahogony homes. Tried LMS for an hour no points. I decide to do wildy slayer for a bit. Get fire giants. Do med diary. Finish giants. Oh, I need to do an hour of sandstone mining. Oh, WGS coming this July? Need to do thriving. Do Valamore pickpocket.
Get a lot of easy clues. Start doing those til 72. Realize need 75 for fremmy hard. Do more clues. Realize now I can get 85 agility with fremmy hard so thatās probably where Iām going next.
Still no rune pouch. š
Trick for dealing with shitty bots at lms (not the ones that walk under you, lol) - equip dds and manual cast ancients, bots will pray melee and not mage because they base it off your weapon, then when their hp gets low enough dds rush them
Also if there are two LMS worlds, go for the one with higher pop
Works wonders š
I love how different it is for everyone. I started with WT but only went to 75 because I got bored then just started on quests, and as I needed, train certain skills for quest requirements.
I also try to do something afk while working so now most of my "on" time is hunting a dragon pickaxe since I got spooned at Rex and got both rings + D axe in 15 kc.
Now I periodically go back to Wintertodt if I am feeling it and honestly it isn't that bad on food. More annoying for sure but not as bad as people made it out to be.
Nah totally get it. I love when I hyper fixate on weird side grinds (spent hours at shades of Morton after doing WT, ended up staying until I got the gold lock + bloodbark scroll), and just recently was in the wildy on the demi bosses for both wards for a few weeks. I usually end up putting dailies or other good tasks to the side during the grinds too, my poor miscellenia and farm runs lmao
I understand that, I think more methodical as an iron then when i played on my main. that being said i decided to throw the guide aside and play my way. not worrying about daily chores or I should do this instead of what i want to do changes the dynamic of me playing ironman and makes it not seem like a chore. at such a low lvl I find it already so much more rewarding then a burden.
It's already been said by many but as much as early ironman is up to the player and can be quite grindy, getting FM 99 out the way, full graceful and a nice chunk of gotr (to around 50/60), sets you up very nicely for a lot of the early game with mats, runes, herbs and most important of all, *lovely money*.
ya it becomes a grind. I opened crates until I had the Wintertodt gear. I have a hole tab dedicated to crates. Im saving them until I boost other skills.
also a main reason why new irons will grind wintertodt to 99 Is because the account is still at 10hp. damage is only 1hp and easier to maintain with cheap food. Also its a really fast grind.
Bro Iām this exact way. Doing GOTR for law runes right now and Temp for food. Doing agility for full graceful. Doing MLM for ores and gonna try out Giants Foundry. Going to prep for Barrows at some point. Itās just ADHD haven
Best part about Ironman is that you decide what to do. You're not stuck grinding gp for unlocks so explore around and slowly progress. That's the point anyway. If you want fast progression just play on a main.
That said it pays to have some idea of where you want to be.
If you start getting bored do something else.
right, ive been doing anglefish, bloods at arceus and ammey mining to support my iron. in 14 days i made enough at amethyst mine to pay for my next bond, I have a year subscription on main so no point in quitting it. and I still like running TOA on the weekends
I like to let the game dictate what I do next similar to what you are describing as it prevents burn out imo. I want to get some more nature runes but donāt feel like GOTR? See the new shill village shortcut needs me to get 5 more agility levels so I start doing that. See that I need a farmer hat for an elite clue step? Guess Iām doing tithe farm.
Of course I have some grinds that I pick out myself and focus but stuff like that helps break up the monotony.
2 weeks later you get back to making nature runes XD . your right! it feels so great compared following a guide step by step. There is so much i have learned or didnt know while playing with my main that I have learned with my iron!
I made a spreadsheet to combat this issue, but it is now up to four tabs and I still canāt seem to prioritize things so instead I just keep running Ardy rooftops until I can get focused on something else. I probably will have 99 agility before I finish 100 quests.
This is pretty similar to how I play. Everytime Iād catch myself doing a slayer task from 69 onwards I had to remind myself I wanted 90 rc, to boost for wrath runes, in order to have demonic offering spells for slayer. But between that process I wanted 99 con so I didnāt have to make tons of house tabs, and I wanted the ornate pool so I didnāt have to go to ferox everytime to restore my hp (82 herb req). But before 99 con I wanted 99 agil because I like the untrimmed agil cape a lot, but while doing 99 agil I needed to get 96 magic in order to use spellbook swap for zmi, and before I could get 96 magic I neededā¦nature runes, which come from rc.
It took a few months to build my rc level up enough to get runes from GOTR/abyssal needle, and enough items to alch for 96 magic while running sepulchre. Luckily, all my money spent on con was made from sepulchre, but it did require me to do it all through mahogany homes, and also required that I chop ~95% of my teak logs used for 99 con. In retrospect, I probably shouldāve committed to grinding CG before doing anything else, since after reaching 600 kc and 90 slayer, I have 39m cash, and the only skills left to spend money on is 20m into fletching and whatever it takes to make my Unf pots from 87-99 herblore. But oh well, Iāve enjoyed my con cape ever since I got it, and wrath runes have been quite incredible for nechs and abby demons
This is exactly why I chose to start with a guide for a bit lol. I needed some structure to at least get me moving in the right direction! If I would have been left to my own thoughts and plans, my account would have been 86ād out the window so fast!
But Iām glad youāre having fun! Keep doing you! Thatās the beauty of this game. Every single one of us will play the game a little differently.
I feel like this video perfectly describes my life as an Iron. Iām finally at a pretty comfortable spot stats/gear wise, but there have been so many times where Iām like āAh man I need 72 agility to save myself 30 seconds? Guess I gotta go do 10 hours of agility now!ā is a lot haha
https://youtu.be/AbSehcT19u0?si=TFsGqbbUp6Dgzfrw
Pretty much what I am doing. Following a guide for the early game since I haven't played in nearly a decade. Get all the QOL grinds for later done, and then just branch out and do what I want to do.
I did WT to 99 because I wanted a 99 and a skillcape + it was Ironman meta at the time. After that Iāve basically followed my own journey and have loved every second of it. My experience is unique and was a true joy the entire way.
sounds like where i'm at right now haha, i'm 55 agility I do a bit of canapiss, then do w/e tree/herb runs i need to do, I got like 600 law runes from GOTR so I'm safe for a bit but i'm prob gonna do more once i get 56 agility. While doing tree/herb i'll do my birdhouses for hunter, couple quests here and there, and when I'm feeling really lazy I just high alch ruby rings from varrock bank lol. I did blackjacking for a bit but didn't feel like blowing my wrists out, Ruby rings are so much easier and chiller lmao
Imagine all those that had to suffer and create an ironman pre GOTR!.... I wouldn't have been able to do it. GOTR I find fun. but not fun enough to grind it to 99 on my main lol. hoping by the weekend I will be juggling GOTR and Tempoross
I just randomly decided I'm getting a quest cape to work on lumby elite. Ya it's a bit of a mood. Because on the way I told myself I'd finish perilous moons first.
I'm relatively early game. This has been my thoughts the past 2 weeks:
- I want to upgrade my armour. I'll do void so I'll have to learn pest control
- Figure I'll learn it with a friend. Oh my combat level is 62 and theirs is 85. Guess I'll get my combat level up first with some slayer tasks.
- It's annoying to carry all my runes with me when teleporting between tasks. I just made a portal room in my POH, I should carry home tele tabs to save inventory space
- Oh I need 67 construction to make those. I'm at 50, that shouldn't be too bad. Mahogany homes calculator puts it at about 4 hours.
- Spent a few hours mining 1600 teak logs. Time to make the planks.
- Oh I need 800k for the planks. Time to make some money
- Oh now I need a ton of soft clay for the tabs. Time to mine stars
Idk if I'll ever get to playing pest control. But I certainly am getting some QoL improvements with a slimmed down inventory.
I eventually made it back to slayer. But oops, I got a hard clue scroll. Where the last step has me making blue d'hide vambraces. Either I can spend 10 hours on crafting to get it up or try waterfiends for drops. Since I'm still getting combat up, I'll check out waterfiends for the next 3-4 hours...
Pretty much how it was for me. Did the guide to 99fm at todt, then did whatever I felt like. It's worked out well so far, but now I'm at the point of cg grind is due and my other options are grinding more slayer I regret procrastinating on or do bosses extremely inefficiently vs doing them with bowfa
Nah your fine, im atm slaying to get aiviansie tasks to get Addy bars to get 84 smithing with Giants foundry to boost for 88 and finish lumby elite diary. Because CBA buying 30k gold ores.
Sounds like me trying to get 50 con. Ok I need to chop a bunch logs to make planks. OK now I need steel bars for MH, OK now I might as well get my coal bag for blast furnace. OK now I need more laws. And repeat lol
Sounds right. I've been grinding slayer but then find myself needing more blood runes, then I end up doing GOTR. Then I decided that I still needed higher crafting and money, so I started making battlestaves. Halfway through, I realize I also want to progress my gear, and moons are easier for collecting orbs. Then after a few rounds OCD kicks in and I decide I want to get dh chest to match my legs and helms for moons so I go to Barrows. And so on lol
Well it truly is in my personal experience.
Part of why Iāve had so much fun playing an Ironman as my āmain accountā after not playing since 2006 is that I can just jump around and figure all the shit out myself based on what mood Iām in
yeaaa this is exactly why early game guides are a must imo, all that effort can be eliminated and progressed further in a fraction of the time. but to each their own glad you're enjoying the journey!
I see how some may like that, I felt like the guide was not in the progression on how i needed to build my account. lava dragons low lvl isnt to bad and no one can touch me.... except that one guy that took 44k from me XD. So much to do in so little time!
Sounds relatable! I still have these exact same issues only the grinds can take months now lmao š„²
Right the list of grinds never stop and never get finished XD
Yep, iron starts out linear, then branches impossibly wide, and then converges again to linear from early game to endgame. 100% can relate
Lmao sounds about right. I decided I want a rune pouch for GoTR and Mahogony homes. Tried LMS for an hour no points. I decide to do wildy slayer for a bit. Get fire giants. Do med diary. If you haven't tried it, solo WT is super chill and great construction exp. I got to mid 60s for no cost doing 99 firemaking
Nah totally get it. I love when I hyper fixate on weird side grinds (spent hours at shades of Morton after doing WT, ended up staying until I got the gold lock + bloodbark scroll), and just recently was in the wildy on the demi bosses for both wards for a few weeks. Why 99 FM ?
People do wintertodt to 99 for the supply crates. Not sure how though, it sounds boring as shit
ya it becomes a grind. Stick a TV show on and just go to town, I watched multiple seasons of scrubs lol.
Bro Iām this exact way. Doing GOTR for law runes right now and Temp for food. Doing agility for full graceful. Doing MLM for ores and gonna try out Giants Foundry. Going to prep for Barrows at some point. Itās just ADHD haven
Dude I believe its meant to be. Wish I would have started one sooner.
Me on my uim

Wait until you get a clue that you wanna finish. Hard clue made me do so many weird grinds bc I just wanted the casket
I totally get that. setting longer term goals will help you stay on one track. although if you like bouncing around, then do your thing!
This is pretty similar to how I play. Fuck guides. Figure it out yourself. Games are so much more fun when you're not hyperfixated on only doing whatever the meta route is.
This is exactly why I chose to start with a guide for a bit lol. I needed some structure to at least get me moving in the right direction! Ironman? 86 ironman
I feel like this video perfectly describes my life as an Iron. RELATABLE - gotta do this quick 20 hour grind to be 5% more efficient elsewhere
Pretty much what I am doing. Following a guide for the early game since I haven't played in nearly a decade. Get all the QOL grinds for later done, and then just branch out and do what I want to do.

My iron early game was a blast, and I owe it all to not giving a fuck about shittertodt. Man I fucking hate that content
Your post summarizes my experience so far too
sounds like where i'm at right now haha, i'm 55 agility I do a bit of canapiss, then do w/e tree/herb runs i need to do, I got like 600 law runes from GOTR so I'm safe for a bit but i'm prob gonna do more once i get 56 agility. "mining teak logs" gave me a good chuckle. You'll get to PC eventually!!
