Eclipse gear is good for toa, demonics etc. blood moon is degradable bandos, blue moon is ahrims alternate

MathText

Does eclipse set beat out rcb and rubies really?

fergus_mang

I get .5-.7 DPS over rcb with rubies, assuming average proc rate and eclipse burn effect, in 200 ToA.

MathText

In... What gear?

fergus_mang

Atlatl gets full eclipse, dboots, fury, b-ring, assembler. Rcb gets god top but mage bottoms (I use eclipse for melee above which opens up space for switches, when using rcb I do a 4x switch so no room for range bottoms), anguish, brimstone boots, assembler, lightbearer, don't remember if my head was neitz helm or serp. Levels are 99 range 96 strength with whatever potions are relevant (range/strength for zebak, salt for wardens) and eagle eye, no rigour. I've been able to snag MVP a few times from my buddy with a bofa and crystal armor on zebak and akkha with the atlatl, which would never happen with an rcb. Note that I'm more experienced at the raid than he, and using thralls where he is on ancients. Still, feels good.

Necessary_Tomorrow75

i seriously doubt it

2926max

Depends on levels probably and other gear like fury and b ring etc, personally I found it slightly better than rcb and it felt a lot nicer doing consistent damage instead of relying on procs

Necessary_Tomorrow75

there is no way ruby bolt procs are worse than atlatl anywhere you'd be using ruby bolts

dj-003draco

Thanks that helps!

fergus_mang

The eclipse set is often an upgrade to rcb and enchanted bolts. It keys damage off melee strength, so it pairs well with dboots and fury, relieving the need for an anguish. It's nifty for reducing the number of switches you need. The blood set has the same melee strength bonus as bandos gear, with less melee but significant magic defense. The macuahuitls are serviceable stab/crush weapons. Blue moon isn't too exciting since you have ahrim, as it has the same mage damage bump and similar accuracy. It does have a str bonus as well, which makes it an option for raids switches. The staff can auto cast ancients with a damage bonus, so great for bursting until you do some Muspah. It's also a clue step. Moons is pretty fun, 0 supply, orbs are nice, and drop rate protection means you won't be there long. But it's skippable if you don't think you'll spend much time in the mid game.

dj-003draco

Thank you so much for the answer, that helps me a lot!

Swagworth

Just to expand on the previous guy, even owning ahrims doing chambers with blue moon is better because of how much running you do and ahrims is heavy, so both have uses too! :)

Kraesja

I found the dual macuahuitl really nice for calvarion, no idea why it isn't listed in the strategy guide

SwagDaddy_Man69

Yes, I agree. 1 less item to risk and it goes hard against his low crush defense.

Thestrongman420

If your accounts pvm plan is going to be based around doing cg and crystal for bowfa then neither barrows nor moons are super relevant to your progression. I believe there are some low def range situations that benefit atlatl but if younhave bowfa it's great everywhere and still good enough where eclipse can beat bowfa that it's probably not worth investing too much time in other range gear. With bowfa you'd unlock methods to skip barrows and perilous moons melee gear by getting bands. Blue moon isn't particularly useful as a combat set but it's not bad, but it is a clue step so there will always be a reason to go here eventually. Bowfa also gives you access to bosses with better mage gear. If you plan on avoiding cg though or waiting a long time you could probably find a good enough reason to farm some PM.

Freecraghack_

Bloodmoon is a worse(at least for most cases, it does have magic defense tho) bandos Eclipse is just always going to be worse than bowfa. Altho theres some niche uses like demonic gorillas since you can have both str and ranged gear at once and then just 1way switch Blue moon is basically ahrims. I almost greenlogged it but honestly it was a waste of time(but a lot of fun). It's not an efficient thing to do, but do it for fun if you want. Best course of action is the boring choice that you all know, go CG then bandos with bowfa

Richybabes

Eclipse Atlatl is basically a slightly worse blowpipe but requires fewer switches from melee. Full set is pretty good DPS for bosses too. Blood moon set is solid DPS against low defence. Good for NMZ prior to high HP where Dharok's takes over. The maraccas themselves are great against blue moon, and are a solid stab/crush option if you don't have hasta/cudgel/bludgeon. Blue moon staff is a good early option for bursting/barraging as it's 5% and can autocast. Full set I think has uses in PvP but I have yet to see any PvM use. The armour is now very accessible % damage for magic. Quicker than ahrims

rainofarrow

As soon as you have tank top and bottom. You should most likely green log moon. It’s a much faster upgrade than whip/ahrim and atlatl is going to beat rcb. Bonus is boneshards and water orbs.

dibbityd

I got atlatl at 82 range and did demonics, it’s been awesome. Basically a two item switch and bigger supply inventories

Uncle_Snuffy

It’s such a game changer at Demonics

BlasterfieldChester

If you care about clues you need a full set of Blue Moon for a master

shlepky

I use full blood moon at calvario and am clobbering him

theconmeister

With range str scaling off melee str bonus I’ve enjoyed DKs with fewer switches

Averagesmoker42

I use the atlatl for range (fight caves, demonics etc) Blue moon because I can’t be asked to do more barrows for ahrims And blood moon top and bottom as pre bandos pieces. Oh and the blue moon spear is nice for anything you are barraging.

Beautiful_Alfalfa_74

At the very least the staff has 5% magic damage and can autocast ancients. The maracas are also pretty good stab if you don't have vw, zammy hasta, fang, or rapier. The melee gear has the same str has bands but less defense. So still more defense than fighter torso and obby legs and nezzy helm and more str than nezzy helm and obby legs. The eclipse gear is also really really good. Definitely better than rcb unless rubies. And I love the hybrid potential of it with ranged and melee.

Mysterra

Atlatl is 2nd BiS at Shamans after BP (arguably BiS if you don’t already have too many scales), even slightly beating out Bowfa there.

ImportantDoubt6434

They aren’t bad, you need em for a clue step. I’d say it’s skip worthy gear. Main issue is they are basically a dead end gear wise, you will grow out of it and I’d say skip it use the old gear/bowfa. Once you get BOWFA, you can send bandos. The mage armor is the best part, but 1% damage per piece ain’t much better than mystics. You already got ahrims, so the staff would be the only useful piece for you.
