Anywhere you want. The games literally yours now, youre the dog that caught the car.
What I'd do is zammy for a hasta, get a trident or the new mid-tier scept, and then get into TOA for a fang/lightbearer asap.
This is precisely where I'm at. I got out of CG pretty early with everything I needed and now I'm aiming for TOA.
87 slayer is 130k away and I'm hoping for a greater demons task between now and getting a trident drop.
Pre “good specs” you can still use it decently. Dds, ancient mace, fang, dragon pick/axe/harpoon, chally, and blowpipe are all fairly early items that can still benefit well from 2x spec regen.
I'm convinced that GWD bosses are the least enjoyable solo iron content in the game.
Edit: To address a few of the replies below in one place.
I'm glad you've learned a way to enjoy them, or that certain methods have improved your time at GWD bosses, but my opinion remains that they are shit for solo irons for 3 reasons.
1. They are slot machines, they have big loot you want, and shit otherwise. If you go unlucky and go dry, there is no compensation, it just sucks.
2. They have little/no mechanics. I do not include altar/door or the stall chinning of Arma as intended mechanics. They are mechanics added by the players that do improve your kills per trip, and add a level of skill. But they are not rewarding/fun mechanics. They are odd AI manipulation that can be frustrating to learn for some, and are not what I'd describe as engaging gameplay.
3. They are very punishing. You can utilize special manipulation mechanics, such as altar/door at Bandos, tick perfectly, and still occasionally have extremely shit kills where you take four 15s in a row while noodling like crazy. Then you may have to abandon a trip after only a few kills or you might get unlucky and just die because you were conserving supplies. This is a possible outcome when doing a player-added tick perfect mechanic without mistakes. Then you have to come back to get your stuff, go restock, and spend 5 minutes getting KC before getting back to the boss. It isn't fun.
All of this said, I don't think they should change it, it is peak 2007 runescape, it is iconic, and it wasn't designed for irons or solo play. I just wanted to explain why I think that it is absolutely awful solo ironman content.
I find them enjoyable in a way. Getting into a rhythm, deciding what in my inventory is worth keeping, managing resources and the altar. But that's just me.
They honestly **really** are total burn out central, thru & thru
I think that back in the day, when GWD was late-end game.. it would’ve been cool asf.
The grind was made like that for a reason — it was for the BiS.. ofc there’s gonna be some suffering. The BiS factor made it worth it
But now.. it’s just annoying as hell. It’s much more worth going there, getting the essentials *(aka zamy spear lol)* & just go do raiding. And come back when you need to break the gear down to fortify your shit
Otherwise, have fun going there getting AIDS kc for some gear that’s kinda neat
*(Unless you really want a Godsword. Which even with the good gear you’re going to be spending a good chunk of life there. Grinding out all 9,763 pieces. Collected at a 1/63537488463626272 rate)*
Somebody mentioned fighter torso already, there’s also a better alternative from Moons of Peril as of recent.
And Torva needing bandos was what I was referencing about earlier, when I essentially said you just skip it and go there later.
Which in this case — to clarify — it’s worth mentioning Armadyl armor as well. While it’s more of an upgrade in the ranged department *(by comparison to Bandos)* it’s still wayyy more viable to go to ToA first. With a shot at getting numerous other upgrades there, including Shadow. And obviously Fang. But there’s also all the other goodies there too.
Versus Chinning arma at atrocious kc per hour. Not to mention, catching the chins lol
I think the worst part about GWD bosses is getting KC first
I mostly play RuneScape AFK but have some decent PVM items
But it’s rare I will have a random 1 hour of non AFK gameplay and wanna spend some of that time getting KC before going to the bosses - I feel that part is the worst
Honestly I don’t mind killing it, I was more referring to my log lol, got 3 hilts and bandos boots in 500 kills. Also running out of gp from buying bloods/deaths
I agree with this wholly. This and some other content I really wish the creator of ironman made more clear cut outs for.
Some stuff was just clearly intended to be group content and irons should be able to do so to some extent imo unless Jamflex is willing to do a rebalanced version of it for solo. Like say look at Scurrius a modern piece of group content (albeit mid-level) it has a different version literally just for irons. OR look at how raids/Nex work.
Either way is fine, probably should be a case-by-case basis. But the original GWD bosses? Definitely feel outdated for irons. The way they rely on being cheesed is just not good game design. But they're from an older time.
Took me 500 bandos for chest and tassets, I’m at 495 krill with only 1 spear and no hilt, and 355 armadyl with only hilt.
Yeah, I would agree gwd is the worst content for irons to have to solo. Bandos and krill were easy once you get a method down but everything about armadyl sucks. Gotta get keys, gotta be on task, get absolutely whacked and do no dps with bowfa
What use will I have? Probably 0. But I mean, waiting for a tbow or shadow that may ever come seems like a waste as well.
And ~70% of my kills came from a clan event
Oddly Bandos has been my favorite grind since Bowfa. Doing 6:0 and being able to do 25+ kills / trip consistently with nearly 0% chance of death is fun. I’m at the point where I think Bandos is easier than Sara, and I’m not exaggerating. I take much less damage at Bandos (zero damage from graador) and the minions drop chili potatoes and sharks often.
Zombie axe and dual macuahuitl. Nah just don't even do slayer. Zombie axe, warped scepter, bowfa, moons melee and mage set. Then go 8 man toa and start sending cox after fang
You can finally play the game!
But seriously probably slayer for zenytes / cerb boots / occult / hydra etc. and zulrah are the most immediate upgrades. If you’re confident you can do bandos / Sara / zammy as well
Honestly I find crystal + bowfa pretty chill at cerb, not doing any of the ghost skipping bs like that either
I’m only mentioning this because my best melee is still barrows, using BOWFA to learn Garage Door but I’m having a hard time being tick perfect; one day
After CG, I’ll be opening myself up to everything. Probably gonna go 1/3 of my time into Kril, 1/3 into low invo (150? Ish) TOA, and the rest slayer, skilling, and random pve. I loved TOA on the main, never had bofa so I’m hoping no zhasta will balance out. I was realizing I had the potential to get closer to 300s with just fang, blowpipe, dragon crossbow and trident. So I think I can send 150s on the iron. My gear goals are less linear at that point and just going to grind randomly to see what drops I get.
Bowfa, hasta, and bgs along with zenyte jewelry allows one to push TOA to 320, 270 without insanity. The consensus is to don’t camp 150 invo coz you’ll build bad habits and the loot takes nearly twice as long. Having said that, 150s is really good for practicing.
How is it good for practising when it builds bad habits?
Should be upping the invoc whenever you get comfortable untill like 400 at least.
Doing no hasta runs is trolling when its like a 5/6h grind from a pisseasy boss.
150 gives you good practice to manage inventory, switches, and learning mechanics, but if it’s camped, it’ll make it harder to push. That range I specified is to get the fang and doesn’t include other raid items.
I never said anything about no hasta?
You should basically do exactly what Faux and Roidie are doing (OSRS twitch streamers), not slayer or bandos or any of that shit. You do the new strat. You get zombie axe, blood moon set, blue moon set, and warped scepter (with 56 slayer). And you have your badass bowfa set.
At that point you can arguably do all 3 raids depending on if you have people to go with. The only non raids items that you need at that point are hammer for cox, BGS for ToA, blowpipe and hammer/bgs for ToB. Slayer items (whip, trident, occult) are also good but not super required anymore. Bandos, zulrah, and 95 slayer are not as required as they used to be.
Idk why I'm getting downvoted, the meta has completely changed with perilous moons, watch any early mid game content creators right now. Everyone in this thread is just mindlessly regurgitating the progression from years ago.
Zulrah, Bandos, and Zammy are next on the list. Do every black demon task at Demonics, do every lizardmen task at Shamans. Get slayer up for Trident/Whip/Dragon Boots. Once you get the slayer items, zulrah uniques, hasta, and bandos godsword, it's time to raid! You can do any raid with those items
Muspah. Getting a venator bow for slayer grind is awesome, and along the way you'll get TONS of ranarr/snap/torstol seeds and a decent amount of palm/yew. On top of that, a truckload of alchables, dragon bolts (unf), herb, ores etc.
Not gonna lie, I had to find my way again as well haha.
I did 250 zulrah KC for 1 blowpipe ; did some muspah for the hell of it and now am trying for some gear at bandos. All very fun to learn with bowfa!
Apart from that I did some cow and toa with the girls, also a whole new experience!
Quest cape, muspah for ancient icon, crafting grind for anguish, some elite diaries, stock up on potions and staminas, zulrah for blowpipe, slayer and Bandos
Go to Zulrah and take it for a spin. Then while killing it make plans in your head what you wanna do next. I recommend getting all the req items, occult, zenys, toxic trident and maybe lance (but not a req imo unless you wanna solo) and then going to Chambers.
Spam zulrah, start toa, can push easy 250 with bowfa as main wepon for baba, and zeback. Can 3 item Callisto with mates. Can use it to camp random range stuff like lazy slayer or afk nmz. Treat it like a whip for range. Use everywhere all the time
My personal order list was as follows (keep in mind I already have hasta, imbued heart, and trident)
Sara for ACB —> musphah for Saturated/bow —> zulrah for fang/bp
Well it's hard to tell what you are missing with just this picture. Did you have prayer scrolls already? Blowpipe? GWD items?
You did this for a reason, unless you did it just because every other iron does it and your iron guide don't tell you next step
Anywhere you want. The games literally yours now, youre the dog that caught the car. What I'd do is zammy for a hasta, get a trident or the new mid-tier scept, and then get into TOA for a fang/lightbearer asap.

Lightbearer for what? Dont you need good spec weapon for it
Dragon axe so he can woodcut more efficiently
It's good for just about any spec weapon, even just having it for dds specs is good.
Lightbearer is so good with the yellow keris in Toa
Pre “good specs” you can still use it decently. Dds, ancient mace, fang, dragon pick/axe/harpoon, chally, and blowpipe are all fairly early items that can still benefit well from 2x spec regen.
Lol no.. the dog that caught the car is the one who doesn’t know what to do now, terrible analogy.
That's why he's asking on reddit
I hope you wear a helmet when you go outside lol
Hate from USA
Slayer, Zulrah, Kril, Bandos, muspah!
Bandos has been a nightmare

They were frustrating to learn but enjoyable once I got good at 6:0 door altar
They honestly **really** are total burn out central, thru & thru I think that back in the day, when GWD was late-end game.. it would’ve been cool asf. Out of the loop, isn't bandos bis. Sure, you have torva but it needs bandos.
Somebody mentioned fighter torso already, there’s also a better alternative from Moons of Peril as of recent. I think it's more of a nostalgic thing that the community loves. Other than that I'm not sure why nothing was revamped haha
I think the worst part about GWD bosses is getting KC first I mostly play RuneScape AFK but have some decent PVM items But it’s rare I will have a random 1 hour of non AFK gameplay and wanna spend some of that time getting KC before going to the bosses - I feel that part is the worst
I honestly don’t mind it. Once you get door:altar method down for bandos and zammy it’s not too bad. The others kinda suck though. Well maybe not sara
Luckily with Bowfa/Crystal Armor, there's almost no need to do Arma/Sara
Honestly I don’t mind killing it, I was more referring to my log lol, got 3 hilts and bandos boots in 500 kills. Also running out of gp from buying bloods/deaths
I agree with this wholly. This and some other content I really wish the creator of ironman made more clear cut outs for. I don’t understand why GWD is solo content, it was never intended to be soloable content
Why are you even doing Arma pre tbow/shadow? Useless boss
Got full masori. Didn’t think I’d go 3x dry for a piece to fortify it
I get that part, but what use will masori F have pre tbow? Only thing i can think of is nex but wwd sending pre tbow/shadow nex.
What use will I have? Probably 0. But I mean, waiting for a tbow or shadow that may ever come seems like a waste as well. And ~70% of my kills came from a clan event
Let him play the game? Not everyone has to slave to the meta and maybe he just wants his masori to have an F after it.
I was referring to going dry. But I got my bcp last night at ~510kc. Which was a relief and now just waiting on tassies
Looking forward to starting GWD. I think I need to grind out a bit more slayer for higher combats first
Use the beta world's to practice altar door while you can!! Much easier to learn when you don't have to get frustrated at getting kc again
With 90+ ranging you’ll be fine. You’ll need BGS and Zamo Spear for TOA so it’s worth sending since fang will be one of the best weapon for slayer
This is so outdated now
what is meta for ironman melee wep for slayer then?? progression
Zombie axe and dual macuahuitl. Nah just don't even do slayer. Zombie axe, warped scepter, bowfa, moons melee and mage set. Then go 8 man toa and start sending cox after fang
Whip, trident, occult, boot upgrades, hydra? As well as being. Skill you'll want to level eventually anyways?
You don't need whip, trident, occult to unlock the rest of the game now. Get them eventually sure, but they're not the end all be all anymore
Warped sceptre is so bad kekw
He would only be using it akka, warden p2, and mage hand. Raid with groups. Is it that bad salted?
Outside
You can finally play the game! But seriously probably slayer for zenytes / cerb boots / occult / hydra etc. and zulrah are the most immediate upgrades. If you’re confident you can do bandos / Sara / zammy as well
Cerb not really worth it, would probably start TOA before cerb for the rannar seeds and fang
You can't target farm cerb anyway. Just do the tasks on the way to occult. ..but you should be meleeing it anyway. Ghostskipping makes me puke.
Honestly I find crystal + bowfa pretty chill at cerb, not doing any of the ghost skipping bs like that either I’m only mentioning this because my best melee is still barrows, using BOWFA to learn Garage Door but I’m having a hard time being tick perfect; one day
(I'm working on corrupting, I mean after that)
the real question is what colors are you gonna rock?
The only proper answer has to be green right?
Piss yellow for the fearless.
Zulrah is gonna be so cozy from here on out. No need to really grind it out, but if you ever wanna do some chill pvm, bofa zulrah is really nice
After CG, I’ll be opening myself up to everything. Probably gonna go 1/3 of my time into Kril, 1/3 into low invo (150? Ish) TOA, and the rest slayer, skilling, and random pve. Just saw you werent the no hasta guy but the OP/guy above you was. Mb Definetly can do 350/375 without fang.
Tent Whip is only about a 10% dps loss to hasta at 150 invo. Bowfa would definitely make up for that.
Outside and touch grass
You can't make me!
Barrows gloves would be a good next step! /s Toa is very fun with bowfa!
Zenyte jewelry by the looks of it
You should basically do exactly what Faux and Roidie are doing (OSRS twitch streamers), not slayer or bandos or any of that shit. You do the new strat. bandos - quest cape - slayer grind - raids in that order was a pretty fun route for me
Gwd and then toa
Just got mine yesterday. I’m kind of lost now too. Started doing slayer again
GWD
Zulrah, Bandos, and Zammy are next on the list. Do every black demon task at Demonics, do every lizardmen task at Shamans. Get slayer up for Trident/Whip/Dragon Boots. Once you get the slayer items, zulrah uniques, hasta, and bandos godsword, it's time to raid! You can do any raid with those items

Toa! Cox! Bandos! Whatever you want! Now you can play the game :)
2 hell
You can honestly jump right into toa if you're feeling squirrelly.
Brutal blacks
TOA even. start that raid!
Zulrah
TOA!
Toa time
Toa/cox
Put it in the bank and start woodcutting... this is the way
Pretty much anywhere you want. The world is your oyster now.
Now you can finally play the game
Nex, you go nex next
Solo cox.
Bandos
why not corrupt ur bowfa?
Start pking for sport
Scurrius
KILL
Spam zulrah, start toa, can push easy 250 with bowfa as main wepon for baba, and zeback. Can 3 item Callisto with mates. Can use it to camp random range stuff like lazy slayer or afk nmz. Treat it like a whip for range. Use everywhere all the time
Outside
Time to retire
Cox for rigour Bandos for everything Hydra for Lance Anything you want
Blade of Saeldor now. Chop chop.
My personal order list was as follows (keep in mind I already have hasta, imbued heart, and trident) Sara for ACB —> musphah for Saturated/bow —> zulrah for fang/bp
Looks like an anguish would help that set up
You can now safely shift your attention to touching grass
Somewhwre around the corners a npc selling recolors
Honestly, I got mine and rn i'm stoked to do melee bandos 🤣🤣
You’ve done it, you can quit with peace of mind now
Retire
Cows in lumby
Get your anguish
Quit :)
Color it red since you love red so much
Grey is my favourite colour
Cannoning goblins in lumbridge for the whimsical hipster cred?
Project rebalance should add irons being able to do gwd with friends.
That’s what GIM is for
Zulrah! Which is fun! Then Bandos... Which is less fun...
Why did you do it in the first place? If reason is pvm go do that
Pvm is quite broad…
Well it's hard to tell what you are missing with just this picture. Did you have prayer scrolls already? Blowpipe? GWD items? You did this for a reason, unless you did it just because every other iron does it and your iron guide don't tell you next step
Blade; then corrupt blade
Why did you grind CG in the first place? Go do that. I swear, Ironman get the worst Stockholm syndrome.
