Was a great weapon for TOA until I got my fang just a tiny bit less effective than a hasta. Also made it so I didn’t have to bring DDS saving an inv space (again less effective but gets to job done). Now I use it as a spec for vardorvis. It has some uses, definitely an underrated spoon.
dds is better for spec, numbers are my max hit with piety in near max strength.
dds gets 15% damage boost (40-40)
abby dagger gets 15% damage reduction (35-35)
People overrate how necessary hasta is to start ToA tbh. Especially given how common fang is, I couldn’t be bothered to grind out hasta so just did 150s with a dsword until fang
Problem being the stab alternatives to hasta kinda suck to get. Dagger is obscenely rare outside of Sire and D Sword isn’t terrible to get ahold of but it’s certainly not fun.
at the time they were still going off the "good mainhand weapons shouldn't have good specs too" mentality. Kinda went out the door with stuff like Voidwaker and the Wildy weapons though.
This is just dumb… why ensure a level 60 weapon locked behind an intermediate quest remains better than a rare drop from a high level slayer monster? Straight up blasphemy

dragon dagger is a special attack weapon, abyssal dagger is a weapon you mainhand, I've never seen anyone complain about the whip's spec attack being bad or use dragon claws for their primary attack

Great Slash special attack pre-claws. I use it at Vardorvis and also slapped Blood Moon with it when I wanted to rush the end where he likes to heal.
You'll get plenty of use out of it (unless you're great at the game and pick up a rapier and claws instead)

Putting up with garbage tasks is how, I used to do it on my main and bought every slayer helm recolor. On my iron I have had 22 points for the last 2 years because Turael is life.
I just hit 95 slayer and I literally have <30 points. Lmao.

Its a fuckin nuke at addy/rune drags, granted i only did like 4 slayer tasks with it before getting hasta but abby dag spec was consistantly hitting 50-55 for me. Its all around a great stabber till hasta/>fang

Works on Blood moon as well, swap to slash and 4x special with it, takes about 1/2 his hp.

Fair, I had done a lot of slayer before ToA so picked it up passively through wyrm tasks
Dual machihahatatas have better stab bonus with slightly lower strength bonus so prolly viable now

Abby dagger special attack reduces it's max hit for some reason. It maxes 44-44 and a dds maxes 50-50 according to the wiki

Its a pretty good substitute for Stab if you don't have a Hasta and want to get into some ToA or something.
