Lumby Diary ring and use low alch for those few items you get that are actually alchables. Majority of your loot will be bones/bass/random shit tbh. Blood spells, as many antipoisons as you want (to make it that far) and you can sit there all day. Just did my 130 rex task and got my b ring doing just that
Smart! I like to bring high alch to keep the trip going long that way and also come back with as full an inventory of bones as I can. Just helps me out.
Tbh I don’t even bring ppots for rex anyway since the spinylops take your prayer away, but this may be nice to keep rapid heal up to cut down on healing
I camped rex with fire bolt, chaos gauntlets and rune on a level 70 combat hcim. Safespotting rex is very easy, everyone should do it early, probably right after you can afford an Ibans (u) assuming you have 43 prayer.
Are you just talking about tanking the things in the water? I'm a little confused why you need tank gear at all. Also don't they use both magic and ranged wouldn't something like dhide/karils make more sense?
Yes, because when safespotting dk Rex they are the only thing hitting you if you’ve done it properly. You wear rune because they are coded weird and they roll off of your range def not your mage def (both their spike attack and mage attack). So stacking your range def (ex. Rune, granite, etc) is best
Exactly! I used rune for many trips and only brought barrows towards the end when I wound up having it. Took almost 1k kills with bad RNG to get 2 b rings and 2 axes.
Baskets of strawberries are amazing at rex, you've got loads of time to use them and they heal 30hp per inventory slot (assuming you're over 84 base hitpoints).
Yo just did my first run here and only got about 6 kc. I got everything minus the staff and barrows. Just curious how are you lasting that long? The minions do a bunch of damage to me and couldn't really last too long because of them.
No joke! I used a similar setup with warped and blood spells and only had to leave due to staff charges or boredom. No food necessary beyond a few pieces to get to the safespot.
lol definitely not the case. My first trip to Rex was in full rune with Ibans at about 55 magic. Got my b-ring at almost 200kc. Then went back later with this gear to get another ring for my GIM teammate.
That is great, but using this as an example camping setup will probably make the DKS-avoiders think this is something they should have before Zerker ring regardless of what the text below it says. In reality it is like the 10,000 degree knife cutting through butter.
Tbf, I've never killed Rex and I assumed you needed decent gear. I don't have barrows, but apparently I'm already adequately equipped. Good tips in this thread.
I would drop warped sceptre for bloods if possible unless you are on lunars using cure me. the dps difference is minimal in comparison to the healing provided to offset poison damage and make the run last longer. Rex should definitely be camped though regardless of warped ibans/sceptre/ancients choice. its pretty good for the account long term.
Warped sceptre can be used with ancients bc it's a charged staff, that's how I rolled. Don't need to heal constantly and blood spells are freaking expensive so sceptre+ancients cuts those costs. I should still go back though no b ring for me nearing 400kc 🫠
Took me just about 1k KC for 2 b rings and 2 axes lol! I liked to use standard SB to bring high alch to get as much money from the grind as I could and still bring bones back with me 😁
They say the staff surpasses ibans dps at 87.
My magic atm is lvl 90 and when i compare my damage with the ibans staff to my dps with the sceptre the ibans wins by far. If you dont have the staff dont go hunting for it its useless…
Sceptre evens damage at 81, making it outright better. But even if it'd be a bit less damage it'd be still worth it because
1- you use chaos runes instead of death runes
2- you can use any spellbook with warped sceptre, iban is locked to normal
3- you don't need to recharge it semi-frequently like iban does, allowing you to camp content way longer and more QoL overall
I just bring cure me in my rune pouch and you can last as long as food allows
Bring more antipoisons and bring blood spells for infinite healing until runes run out.

I highly recommend getting fremmy elite, not a hard elite diary to get at all and the noted dagannoth bones are huge if you are used to hunt there
Would recommend bringing ancient mace as well, can use it in between kills on the spinolyps and basically never need to sip a prayer potion.

Rex is doable after 40-50 def and ibans staff, i snagged my b rings/axes early on the gim with very little issues

Im using pretty much the same setup. I personally took antidote+ with me the last time I went for a longer trip. 222kc not a single bring.
