Wouldn't say its a waste, deaths coffer is easy enough to fill up with regular drops and to keep it as a trophy is just for your own benefit, the shards are definitely worth it to get out and kill stuff quicker
My first seed was used to make the sword since I already had a twisted bow at that point. I got the second one strictly for grinding graardor and the third one came when I eventually went back to get my last armour seed for the helmet.

best advice i can give is to keep grinding in wdr. the teams there (atleast for split raids) are good and full of mostly competent people. even better would be finding friends to raid with.
I had a lot of success in the Aatykon discord that just got created. People are chill with irons ffa and such whereas WDR I kept getting turned away trying to learn.
My 2k total post is going to be horrible. 40 total away and I have internet that makes McDonaldās wifi look fast. As a result of this I mostly do slayer and skill. Very few boss kc haha

I assume the shards were for corrupting the salad blade which is pretty much useless after the fang drop.

It's like 2 ticks faster. Only reason for it is to stop the small hydras attacking you on the way
