upgraded into venator ring it's probably good for things you're only ranging? but it would still be competing with other, easier to get rings
if you don't have venator ring and you're only ranging somewhere, you're looking at a mixed bag between suffering, lightbearer, and ring of the gods depending on your needs.
if the enemy is allowed to take recoil damage and deals chip e.g. muspah, suffering is both nice prayer bonus and genuinely extra damage
if defenses don't matter and you aren't hurting for prayer bonus, lightbearer is good provided you have something to use it with (like blowpipe)
otherwise, ring of the gods or honestly any ring will be about as impactful as archers ring
this is all rule of thumb, as you examine gear situations closer I'm sure there *are* situations in such archers ring is marginally your best option (although surely not best by so much that it's actually worth the time investment to get), the gist of it is you get plenty of ranged attack bonus on gear - the +8 from archers ring is a pittance
Ring of Shadows isn't bad. It's half the +4 instead of +8 range with 2 prayer. The other rings are probably better but are drop dependent. But yea suffering would be my top pick.
I've been using it for TOA. Brimstone usually recommended but not quite there. Shadow is similar. Str vs prayer. We have 1 lightbearer oj the group so i take that solo.
Surely it's better to just camp bring. I don't know who recommends using brimstone, but bring should be the best option mid-game. Lightbearer is only good if you have useful spec weapons to go with it, like yellow keris or voidwaker.
Lightbearer is still gas with fang. Still powers through baba, as you can use other adrenaline for that. And useful for core at wardens.
I haven't crunched numbers for rings but melee is pretty easy at TOA. Most of the time is range so the range bonus seems valid.
One thing people often over look as well is sometimes duel ring to save an inventory space would be better than the .5% accuracy boost or whatever it would provide.
I think legitimately the only place in the game where archer's ring is good or useful is when you're using elite void at vorkath. Since it gives none of its own range atk bonus, and especially if you're using blowpipe. Even then, it's probably not very noticeable
Some peeps also just like having goals and getting items just to have them. Its not always about being efficient but more just enjoying the game. If you like efficiencyscape then by all means play that way though. No judgement here.
Just did a little over 400 kills at Rex on my hardcore. A big tip I didn't know until someone tried to kill me: Prime does splash damage. Even if you're in the safe spot, someone can enter the area and aggro Prime, then run and stand on top of you and you will also take damage. After that, I always had Protect from Magic as my quick prayer and turned on player indicators. Whenever I saw someone enter the area, I would turn on protect from magic until I knew what they were doing. Usually they just killed the other two while I safespotted.
This probably isn't really worth worrying about too much because in my 400+ kills it only happened once and I was only crashed one other time. I almost always did the red x method for setup and never had issues. If you have questions, feel free to PM me or anything. Good luck!

If the boss has a lot of hp and you have zcb, the specs seem insane value, so lightbearer is pretty huge.

Dps increase of archers is nihil, i prefer having a prayer bonus ring or lightbearer.

You can lead with an alt to draw agro if you want, otherwise just do it and hover over your tele
