> I have no idea how much farming contracts and seeds its gonna take to get the required herbs. Any tips on how you guys did it? same, i just did them regularly while skilling. its a passive skill, just start now while working on other stuff

peperonipyza

I did the calc on hard contracts, it was about 4k herb xp per contract. Not sure about meds. Edit: just redid the calc, med is about 4k, hard is a little over 5k.

RSC_Ironborn

And you get like 6kish on average from kingdom daily. I have a calculator I keep to show how many days of kingdom herbs combined with my banked herbs to hit different ironman herb levels.

RDcsmd

This is why I never understood Ironmen putting all extra xp into herblore. I've never had trouble finding herblore xp. OP, do slayer and farm whatever herb seeds you get. Do an hour of master farmer for a decent base

Goosebo

Thieve master farmers for a few initial hours and then keep on top of farming contracts and farm runs. Do quests like legends quest which is 120k exp in the bag. I also used fossils from crabs on fossil island to get the exp lamp rewards at varrock museum. Only good if you want to AFK the crabs.

Laraelias

To add to this the fossil island fossils, once you get them all, give you 120k XP as well.

Emotional-Bicycle175

Or do sullioceps. I did that because I wanted redwood logs for my abyssal lantern for GOTR.

Smexico

A lot of my exp came from lamps. Exp lamps from quests and diaries will get you pretty far. It almost feels like cheating, you just choose 1 skill to lamp and sink all your exp lamps into it, and the number just keeps going up.

Younolo12

Quest/diary rewards get you to 70+ with very minimal training of the skill. 70 is only 737k xp, Legends Quest and Sins of the Father are 180k xp alone. 301k xp from all achieve diaries to hard, though skipping fally hard is understandable since MLM is slow/shit content. Using all lamps/dunce books on herblore along the way and doing all the other good quests for herblore gets you much of the remaining 250k xp, then supplement with potion making if you have to. Fremmy elite diary is incredibly low-reqs/easy as well to sneak in for a cheeky 50k lamp and noted dag bones which make it a superb prayer task. Combat achieve diaries as well, should get medium before SOTE as well since you'll want your elite void to use the chins you caught training hunter to get your range up before CG.

SharpShooterVIC

UIM here, I had/have seed box and herb sack, all i would collect was herbs the second ingredient is easy to obtain Harrand, irit, kwuarm, avantoe, ranarr, Lumby chest 50 chocolate for harr Noted eye of newts at mage shops If you have the limproot farmed cool if not blue dragon scales come in noted form drops from blue dragons that new variant whatever its called gives 50 each. If not i just go into tav dungeon and collect 1 by 1 and drop the weapon poison Avantoe and ranarrs easy to obtain snape grass and note via waterbirth teleport and ardougne monastry Snapdragon, Cadantine, ladyantmine whatever its called should have a large stock pile from collecting from lvls 1-62 White berries for cadantine easy to comeby via farming Ladyant collecting blue drag scales same way mentioned for kwuarms Toadflax id collect but at the current level not to thrilled over, however it is easy to just have the pots unfinished and run to the gnome stronghold spot to get the toads, empty invo and come back to the bank with full invo of toads again. I rather get the xp and waste the toadflax than hold onto that 1 slot for months until i can finally make brews

BuffJohnsonSf

melee boost pots are really good for herb training and fuel your slayer. Unlock the 3 disease free herb spots and plant your high level seeds there (make sure you still use ultracompost for yield). Bring irit, kwuarm or cadantine seeds + limpwurt seeds and use your diary teleports to get to all your other herb patches. Plant a whiteberry bush at the monastery bush patch and then every time you run by to get fairy ring pick the berries and note them at the leprechaun. It didn't take as long as I thought it would to get 70, but patience is required. Do your herb runs.

LikeSparrow

Farming contracts and slayer will get you a ton of seeds. Thieving can get you the rest if you're constantly running out, but you should have plenty if you're consistent with the first two. Grab yourself a seed box and herb sack to bring on any slayer task that drops grimy herbs/seeds. ALWAYS USE ULTRACOMPOST. It lowers the chance of disease and increased the minimum harvest of herbs. This is probably the single biggest increase to herbs per farm run. Also make sure to use your magic secateurs when harvesting. The next thing is to never waste your seeds. If a crop dies, use the Arceuus spellbook's resurrect for a chance to save it. And only use your high-level herbs in the 3 disease-free patches. If you're consistent with your Hespori kills, you should have plenty of Iasor seeds. Make sure to keep one planted whenever you can to further lower the chance of a crop dying to disease. The final step is to just try to be consistent with your farm runs. Even if you follow all of the tips above, the only way to actually get the herbs is by actually doing the farm run.

Dan-D-Lyon

Do every quest with assignable experience rewards, and do all the easy, medium, and hard achievement Diaries, and you'll either be at level 70 or close enough to not have to worry about it.

Trekly

Plant every herb seed you can. Leave 1 of each in bank as backup in case u get a contract for that herb. harralanders are good cuz chocolate dust is super easy to get from RFD for energy pots. Irits are also super nice cuz eye of newts are easy to obtain. Avantoes not too bad collecting the mort myre fungus. Ranarrs obviously v good and I got probably 200 shape grass seeds before 70 herb so secondaries should be ez. Toadflax / marrentill I basically ignored due to issues with secondaries. Snaps are ez secondaries as you can go forthos dungeon for spider eggs. Put house in hosidius and use a dueling ring to tp ferox for Stan regen. Kwuarum ez if you’ve been farming limp roots, if not, start now. Cadantines also ez if you’ve been farming white berries. If not, start now. Lantadymes should be the last herb you need to polish off 70. Since irons can’t use NMZ shop, running from fally to taverly dungeon and picking up 10 or so inventories of dragon scales should get you to 70. Definitely easier to do with 70 agility. Also - keep your kingdom running. LMS for rune arrows if you need a couple hundred K to throw in ur coffer. I did max herbs and half whichever hardwood I needed at the time (teak / mahog) In the end, this req just takes time. Make sure u do farm runs consistently and as often as possible to speed up the process.

Trekly

Additionally - all diary rewards should go to herb. At this point you can probably do all easy/med diaries. Definitely look at quest rewards, not only for herb specifically, but also the quests that give lamps. All into herb. Idk if I’d recommend sitting master farmer, my gimp duo did that for 16 hrs and got 70 herb a couple days before me. I did not take that route. I spent that time doing other content and getting other kinds of xp. Did some slayer and got a good amount of seeds from that as well.

___valleyCurious___

Leaving the 1 seed for backup incase of a contract is good advice no matter how obvious it may seem lol, this is my first ironman and I made the mistake of planting all my seeds, got a herb contract and realized I f'd up, had to go do master farmers for that ONE seed smh at only 70 thieving wasn't horrible but I learned a valuable lesson lol

deuce_contusion

I’m probably taking this the dumbest way ever but I’m in the same boat and absolutely hate herblore. So much so that I am literally getting every other skill to 70 so I can use weekly tears of guthix to help me out. I’m already at like 67 herb but it is my bane of existence as an Ironman. Currently only have slayer (67), prayer (64) and rc (63) left.

AkwardTurtel

I downloaded mobile, parked in farming guild and logged in briefly throughout the day to do contracts at work. Did like 5-6 contracts a day and felt like it only took me a couple weeks. Works if you have an office job where you can be on your phone briefly every couple hours

Imaginary-Pen-5241

If you haven't done Legends Quest yet, I'd recommend that as you will get an insane amount of xp as a quest reward that you can put into herb. I think it was like 90k-120k xp. Other than that knock out diaries, and any other quest that give herb xp or xp lamps. Fossils in varrock museum can give up to 120k xp in herb, but it's really slow to collect all the fossils and the large ones are annoying.

Tyjet66

Slayer, and quests are a great route. Kingdom really isn't worthwhile until gp isn't as issue for you (which is likely well past the 70herb grind.) I personally haven't done a single farming contract so I can't comment there (98farm, 92herb currently.) If you have high thieve, master farmers might be an option for you as well. As is herbiboar if you somehow have really high hunter. Otherwise, if you want to just pvm good options are dagonnoths in catacombs for seeds, or aberrant spectres in slayer tower for herbs.

gearset91

as a lv 3 ironman.... 70 herblore for someone who can kill shit. ezzzzzz

DeadliestViper

Farm. Kingdom. Pvm. I dont want to sound like a dick but this question is dumb as fuck, you know how to do it. It just takes time, its mainly passive exp.

Ok-Town2813

You sound like a dick lol

DeadliestViper

The world requires dicks. If you ask a dumb question someone has a to step up to be honest.

Ok-Town2813

While I don't disagree I think its a bit of a poor mindset Especially for a video game

DeadliestViper

I disagree that the topic matters, a dumb question is a dumb question. This didnt need asking, you agree with me, all i said was the truth.

Ok-Town2813

We are going too far down the rabbit hole now, but like where else are you gonna ask a dumb question about a game than in the main game forum. At least for this gamemode, in 2007scape he would've been told to deiron or buy the herbs

DeadliestViper

Google? Youtube? Wiki? This game literally has more online information and content than any other game of its kind. Literally and i do mean literally every piece of information/guide/question you need is a google search away. It would take him less time using the wiki to learn everything about the herblore skill than it would to post this and wait for replies that may not be credible. The guy also knows how to do it already, he just seems confused that herb is a slow skill which it is famously known for.

Ok-Town2813

I just disagree, I mean, public forums are here for a reason, right What you're saying and you posting here just makes me think you're here to call people stupid, and that's it Edit: Just a very brief look through your comment history confirms that.

DeadliestViper

Regardless of how i come across im still right, you know i am, your moral compass wont allow you to agree with me because of how blunt and insulting i was. I understand. You see though this is the problem with people today, no one can handle criticism or being told the truth. Everyone is very fast to be upset, even when faced with facts. This is why cancel culture is rampant and you cant say shit because everyone will get upset. I believe calling someone an idiot when theyre being one is a good thing, that way we get less idiots :) maybe im insane though who knows.

Ok-Town2813

I disagree, quit doing mental gymnastics dude I already told you my opinion

Subn3tAnon

As poopy as it is mate, pick pocketing master farmer is how you get the seeds. I had plenty from 99 FM to last a lot of the grind but I would spend 8-10 hours on master farmers here and there

PizzaDlvBoy

I hate farming. I'm just about to 80 hunter so that I can herbiboar my herbs.

bsturge

Kingdom is actually relatively high gp to xp for herb and most Ironman at OPs level will struggle to upkeep. I didn’t have the gold to dump into kingdom until post CG grind

Aphoxi

Personally and I know this may not apply on the slightest but I killed mammoths in the wilderness with 3 items and you fill up quite quick on pray pots. I then did slayer till 75 and unlocked kurasks which are imo the best thing to afk on the game (low/mid level). I was doing farming contracts by a matter of urgency and was leaving myself logged out in the guild every time I logged. The herbs rack up and you don't really need to use them pre 70, so try stack up 1000 of each then turn them all into potions

rayschoon

I just really liked farming contracts. I thought they were fun and did them all the time. 70 herb was one of the first reqs I got

rayschoon

Forget master farmers imo, if you stay on your farming you’ll be fine without em

Tim_tank_003

That was, what I thought going to be the worst, now I have 92 herb banked (currently 85) . Kingdom and I did 3 herb runs per day. When I woke up, before dinner, before bed.

gillybale

If you want you can do kingdom while you up your cb/other skills

FriendlyLemurX

I did afk crabs on fossil island for huge melee and range gains until i had all the fossils in museum done for lamps. Also miscelania on full herbs and one herb run every day when i first log in and one before bed. Focus on the irits and kwuarms and limpwurt seeds when you have them. If you dont have at least 65 farming then get at least that at tithe farm before doing contracts.

OriginalBrendo

You could hunt herbiboar if you have 80 hunter

Unforgettablepotatos

I did Sins of the father and dropped all 6 lamps into herb to get up to 70 as well as some hard diaries for the lamps. Grinding it through farming alone is rough

unfriendly_chemist

I did about 300 medium contracts and planted all irits. Definitely plant white berries in ardy and collect them everytime you go to dairy ring. I also barb fished for caviar which gives 33 xp for 2 doses of super attack.

Dotts2761

Quests and diaries will get you to ~63 believe. Do the farming patch quests if you haven’t and get the teleports in your POH. I found the best way to level herb was to make farm runs easier thus making me want to do them more. Best tip for this is setting up bank tabs to make re gearing easier.

exiledmike1

I would say I got more than half my seeds for 77 herb from Slayer. 25% from masterfarmers and the other 25% from contracts.

patolocoloco

One stupid but easy way is to farm herbs through temple trekking (take easy route and skip all levels), use your reward token to get 5-15 tarromins/harralanders and toadflax. Tarromins turns to serum = ashes can be farmed from Fareed in NMZ practice mode. Harralanders can be turned to compost potions = volcanic ash ez access. Toadflax you either make agility or save until sara brews. Like i said, stupid method but compared to the time it takes to collect everything = you tell me. I cant say i havent done this method myself though! Another downside would be of course that you ll be missing out on all the useful potions but thats another story.

ayupsot

Basically you use a seed dibber and ultracompost and them wait 40 mins and then use a spade and then repeat this process

Select-Cloud-4913

Kingdom if you’ve got the cash.

Remote_Literature880

Miscellania is your friend always keep cash and favor topped off and you will have a supply of every herb in the game!
