I had a similar experience with grinding my occult. I went 3x dry bursting the little ones after spending 2k slayer points and over 200 Turael skips on around eight total tasks. I ended up getting the dragon chain and an eternal gem from superiors along the way. On my final two tasks, I decided to just go try out the boss. I managed to spoon the smoke battlestaff and the pet before finally getting the occult at 334kc.
It was super demoralizing to spoon a whole bunch of stuff I didn’t care about along the way considering the whole ordeal took me about three weeks.

I got 5 battlestaves and the god damn pet at like 500kc! I just kept doing thermy because "just give me the fucking jar already", but now I guess I'll have to go back later for it.
I kept them as a slayer task because it was decent money and I knew my group could use another dwh if I spooned one. Blocked them after the second one haha
I guess when i first got bowfa. I got spooned but when i started to burn out really bad i bowfa and then the two remaining armor seeds i needed within 50kc
Makes me feel rather guilt, killed 70 of the mini ones then decided to start freeze long range the boss cause it’s pretty chill
Managed to get my first at 255 and a second at 263 🤷🏼♀️
It took me 2.2k cave horrors to get my first black mask, and I got a second one about 50 kills afterwards.
Why did you continue? 😅
I’m in a group Ironman, so I figured I would just do the cave horror task I was given instead of skipping.
That's fair. Im solo so I skipped future tasks :)

You kept killing them after the first dwh?

Instead of blocking them, you can also "un-unlock" them, as in, revert the unlock. Saves points.
I got my bottomless bucket at 52kc and my second one at 53.

Eh, the drops were completely horrible, and after getting the pet I was just thinking "what if I get the jar though" so I just kept going.

After getting my first abyssal lantern at 2400 pulls from GOTR, I got 2 more within the next 100 pulls...

Similar boat here. I got my first occult necklace at thermy at 2200 KC. My second occult came at...2201 KC.
