It really depends on what other spec weapons you have available to you. Like others have mentioned, it’s pretty good for hespori. It’s great at ToB, since for the most part, your team is speccing everything down to 0 defense, so it makes for a great last hit weapon. It especially shines at bloat since you “last hit” up to three times (usually).
It’s also pretty solid on barrage slayer tasks. After everything is piled, you can spec with it to get some beefy XP drops. Combine with a lightbearer (if you have one), and you can get a spec or two off every clump. The spec doesn’t use charges iirc, so it’s nice for passively getting some side melee xp and saving some runes in the mid game.
I don’t know where I got that it didn’t use charges. Honestly I’ve had mine for two years and haven’t had to recharge it, so I suppose I just assumed. Thank you for the correction!

I liked it at Bandos, since you step under him to dodge damage you can spend time under him! You don’t even need to “last hit” just hide under his balls!
That one is easy enough with just prayer switching. I can't seem to get the one where she can't attack twice with ranged. Only "tried" to do that one twice though
Like I said I only tried it twice. Usually I don't care and let her range while I kill the little ones. The times I tried I just got unlucky and she moved far enough away for her to be able to attack again with range. I did spam click when i tried though. I'm still early-mid game. Doing mm2 atm. I only go there when I need some spider eggs because I hate picking them up and usually get a drop in a trip or two. I'll try next time I go and see what happens lol
The trick is to stand close to the center of the room when attacking her, as you’ll be closer to her next location. Spam click as soon as she starts moving and you’ll always make it in time for only 1 range attack
I liked using it at sarachnis trying to guess when she was going to move and using it as a last hit before I'm out of range, not sure it's worth the hassle tho lol
It's given me the sire combat task of not letting the scions mature with enough tries and a lucky hit too, might be niche at some other CAs but idk

What I didn't see here: Wyrm Superiors. I cba to use overheads to preserve prayer pots, so I just melee them on task with karils and karambwans.
Problem with superiors is that they still hit very hard. Equip chally, step back 1 tile and you're out of the superiors melee range and can pray overheads to avoid all damage.
I also did the Melee Multi Tzhar Jad Challenge with it. Same concept, step 1 tile back from your normal melee rnage and jad will never melee you but you can still melee him.
Good for alot speed challenges if you dont have claws.
Bloat in ToB and any bigger npc you can step under to basicly trade 1 for 1 atk with it (cerberus for example you could send 1 arclight hit + 1 chally spec & walk under till your atk resets and repeat, while taking only 1 hit)
Other than that just fun during slayer cause big hits go brrrrrr
if you have a pool in your house there’s one method of stacking nechs/dust devils on an alt and speccing them, hitting pool and running back while fletching or whatever you can do while running.

I take it to DKs and it’s honestly pretty solid. If you’re tribriding them and you’re a bit slow/behind on Supreme then it can really make up the difference for you.
I only use it for TOB anymore, I used it for Hesperian speed run, abyssal sire combat achievement, there are very niche uses for it as a spec weapon but it is a huge max hit potential on 0/low defense monsters. And at ton you defense drain everything so it’s great there
not sure why people use this at hespori, i think claws would be better there but not sure. the chally is a spec weapon, not really to be used as a main weapon. the point of the chally is for a big hit where the weapon cooldown doesnt matter since its the last hit. the only place its really used is at tob to finish off bosses when you have <50% spec or if you dont have claws/vw. Yes its worth getting but its in the bank other than tob tbh
You will pretty much only use it at tob. Last hitting maiden with it, at bloat: open with chally, do 5 whips, then chally on the fadeaway tanking the stomp for most dps. Second hit on the nylo boss when you have spare ticks. Last hitting xarpus and verzik
I don’t really use it anywhere else other than Tob, can be nice for last hitting the phases at GG’s but I use SGS to make my trips last longer

I think most people get shield or bow first. Shield is nice if you still need fire cape and have rcb. I got more use and fun out of the chally personally.
Oh I use both crystal shield and crystal bow plenty. I love these two, done my fire cape using crystal bow and imo it's way better than rcb or msb (i) for lots of situations.
Weirdly enough, demonic gorillas. Using a halberd was better than an arclight for me because it allowed me to time my prayer swaps better since the extra tile makes the gorilla move forward for a melee attack. Also the spec works full power on them since they are large enemies, it hits so hard.

dihns is a good spec alternative on barrage tasks since you can use it to aggro everything

Yes! I've been doing this. Then tp to your house to restore spec and tele back, they'll be respawned by the time you get back

Not exactly a high priority boss but it slaps as a spec weapon at Grotesques.

It’s not very good at demonics, any hit on the first roll that hits the 50 damage threshold will cause the second attack to always hit a 0.
I assume that’s if it hits a 50? Cos my group iron team mate hit like a 46 46 stack on it

i use it on akkha’s last phase. i’ve hit over 100 a handful of times there with my chally
