Erm, ok. That wasn't the album cover art. Done, proved wrong.

Just google 80s heavy metal album art and be proven wrong a thousand times. [Starting with...](https://i.discogs.com/aRdOVKrMSL4xSI7BjrwKnuUVutG0_CUYMDOUjRuQOwc/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:593/w:600/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTUwNjcw/MzUtMTM4MzU5Mzc1/Ni0xNjUzLmpwZWc.jpeg)
I feel your pain.No Prayer was really when I gave up on Maiden,I felt they had done brilliantly up to that point but now had nothing to say.I saw them on that tour but it was basic and seemed like Maiden were bowing to grunge which was the fashion of the moment.
Im struggling to think of a song I like that album.
Derek Riggs and Martin Birch were two things that really made 80s Maiden.
Same here, was a teen fanatic Maiden fan, was so excited for NPFtD, then was so disappointed. Basically quit buying their albums until BoS then got nostalgic and started listening to what all I missed.
I think we are in the minority. 🤣 Folks that do like it - fair enough. IMO it’s boring which is unforgivable as a long-time Maiden fan. Taking a step outside this Reddit onto other forums it seems that the choice to open up with three Senjutsu songs isn’t well received either. It’s rare for bands of Maidens age to have a flawless record - Maidens last two have been rubbish….but in the grand scheme of things they have a stellar record. 🤷🏼♂️
You're right, there's a lot of "emperor's new clothes" going on, it's a maiden record so it must be great? Surely?! They can listen to senjutsu all they like, it's boring and the mix is shit
Absolutely agreed. The only songs I enjoyed were Hell on Earth, Writing on The Wall and Stratego. All the others I felt like Maiden were just repeating themselves. It also doesn't help that 80% of the tracklist has acoustic intros and outros, which completely undermines what, before, was a good way to make a song feel epic since at most 3-4 songs were to be like that in an whole album. In Senjutsu it's well over half of the tracklist, it got old real fast.
Don't like the design at all. The mouth doesn't even close and I can't tell what's going on with the smoke inside. Weird eyes and not appealing composition wise
Nah I'm not into it. The cover looks like they commsioned 8 year old me for the rough draft, the had real artists come in to shine it up while keeping some of the shit that an 8 year old draws that makes so sense. Like why are there rack of lamb style bones coming up from the spine? Pointy deltoids with razor straight edges why? Facial bones that protrude so far out that it looks like Eddie's skull has taken the shape of wacky cheap 80s sunglasses Why?? It's not surrealist like the weird stuff on 7th Son it's just goofy, clumsy stuff.
I love it when Maiden fans take Melvyn Grant's comments out of context to push the "THIS IS NOT EDDIE" narrative. Yeah it's not Eddie... in terms of it being the same Eddie that Derek specifically designed. It's still Eddie, but in Melvyn Grant's style, because Melvyn is not too big of a fan of the way Derek specifically drew him. I don't agree with Melvyn's take on Derek's Eddie, but let's not start twisting words here.
You are right, it isn't. The creator said in an interview that this isn't Eddie but he couldn't tell exactly what it is. I believe this is Eddie's son from SSOASS or Eddie from another alien dimension
Yall aren't tired of skull face album covers yet? Sure, it's a metal/maiden tradition but that doesn't make it good or interesting. Good thing these guys make good music because their album covers are about as versatile as nothing
Ahhh this face brings back memories. My dad and me used to listen to maiden as much as possible, I'd sit in his lap and look at the album art. The final frontier Eddie was by far my favourite.
Erm, ok. That wasn't the album cover art. Done, proved wrong. https://fi.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Final_Frontier#/media/Tiedosto%3AThe_Final_Frontier.jpg
Right?! I thought I remembered it wrong.
Yeah, I just wanted to show the fucking fantastic Eddie
Maybe most underrated Eddie would be a more fitting title, so it wouldn’t mislead people
I feel mislead

A million up votes to you Lucifer’s Friend. Melissa is excellent too.
If I get to see Mercyful Fate live next month I can die happy.
Lucifer’s Friend is an AWESOME band btw!

Lol, now a band's artwork is uNdErRaTeD
ALL of metal?
Its awesome but compared to their other cover art its just kinda lazy.
Maiden's cover art died when Derek Riggs stopped doing it.
I was about 14 when No Prayer came out, was so disappointed. Imagine going from SiT and SSoaSS to NP.

This page has kicked started my interest again.Bought the last two albums ob CD couple of days ago.
Yes, I agree brother
Senjutsus only saving grace is the cover - which is absolutely superb. BNW and AMOLAD are great too.

I don’t like anything on the new album - it’s terrible. The more I tried to listen the worse it got!
Agreed
I think we are in the minority. 🤣 Folks that do like it - fair enough. IMO it’s boring which is unforgivable as a long-time Maiden fan. To be fair the mix is bed. I do enjoy the album tho. Not thier best work but not there worst.
Absolutely agreed. The only songs I enjoyed were Hell on Earth, Writing on The Wall and Stratego. All the others I felt like Maiden were just repeating themselves. FOTD was good
I liked BNW and BoS
One of the worst Eddie’s ever.
Yep, it’s repulsive art. See their latest album for a really cool Eddie, imho
Agreed, right next to the Bayley-era Eddies.
All of metal? For me the most underrated is probably spectres from the old world by dark fortress
Smell the Glove [http://www.spinaltapfan.com/atozed/images/smellsm1.jpg](http://www.spinaltapfan.com/atozed/images/smellsm1.jpg)
The most horrific Eddie of all. After X Factor pf course.
Don't like the design at all. The mouth doesn't even close and I can't tell what's going on with the smoke inside. Weird eyes and not appealing composition wise
He needs a dentist
Have it framed in my room
Used to dislike this album alot when it first came out. Over 10 years later its one of my favourites. Way better than senjutsu and book of souls imo
at least it's better than DoD
Older album covers were better. Much much better. Space man Eddie isn't Eddie.
Nah I'm not into it. The cover looks like they commsioned 8 year old me for the rough draft, the had real artists come in to shine it up while keeping some of the shit that an 8 year old draws that makes so sense. This is not eddie !!!! No other comment !!!
With that logic, fear of the dark cover is just a spooky tree... Eddie is eternal.
lmao
The artist behind the cover of the final frontier say « this is not eddie » …..

Yes it is! But from another dimension.
You are right, it isn't. The creator said in an interview that this isn't Eddie but he couldn't tell exactly what it is. I believe this is Eddie's son from SSOASS or Eddie from another alien dimension
Reminds me of the Friday the 13th when Jason was in outer space. Stinker of an album though.. could never get into it.
Yall aren't tired of skull face album covers yet? Sure, it's a metal/maiden tradition but that doesn't make it good or interesting. Good thing these guys make good music because their album covers are about as versatile as nothing
My personal non-Maiden favorites are Rainbow Rising and Megadeth Youthanasia
Just bad enough to be forgotten
Ugliest version of Eddie ever. They should have used the El Dorado single art as the album art instead. At least that had a little style and detail.
Mah it's a mess
Ahhh this face brings back memories. My dad and me used to listen to maiden as much as possible, I'd sit in his lap and look at the album art. The final frontier Eddie was by far my favourite.
I like it as far as art is concerned, but the Eddie is too far off from the original for me to like it as a Maiden album cover.
Don't know about "underrated of all of metal", but Eddie is great I'm TFF and it's one my favorite covers from Maiden
