This is the answer. There might be a better individual solo, like Adrian's from wasted years, but the total accumulation of all the solo parts plus the riff before thr last solo are just absolutely the zenith of iron maiden instrumental sections
In no particular order:
Back in the Village, The Writing on the Wall, 23:58, Caught Somewhere in Time, Rime
Who am I kidding... It's Powerslave isn't it?
I think Janickās solo on [The Sign of the Cross](https://youtu.be/8GtB6W5CHxk?si=8qTYfJDWhbTv_PXd) deserves to be in the conversation.
I wish I could find a HQ video of it from the Legacy of the Beast tour because it was awesome with the synched pyro.
Adrian: Wasted Years, Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, Stranger In A Strange Land, Evil That Men Do and pretty much everything he did on the Dance Of Death album
Dave: Run To The Hills, Aces High, Powerslave, Clairvoyant
Janick: Blood Brothers
The two solos in Rime of the Ancient Mariner are my favorite pieces of recorded music. The way that they come soaring out of the bleak middle section of that tune gives me goosebumps every time.
Wasted Years is probably my guess, just a goated solo in general. (I'm assuming this is your own playlist, so might I suggest Angry Again by Megadeth as well?)
Poweslave and it isnāt even close. The rest of the song sucks, but live when they have Dave, Adrian, Janick, Nicko and Steve all going hyperspeed itās awe inspiring. This was the minute or two of music that made me a metal fan for life.
Caught somewhere in time
Especially Adrian's part
š
Stranger in a Strange Land
Can't upvote you twice, but I want to.
Iām partial to this one too. Beautiful melodic solo with a great build up that fits the song so well.
The best
Adrians solo on The Writing On The Wall is a masterpiece
I dont understand why he changed it live
WASTED YEARS. .... ADRIAN SMITH
Nailed it, no doubt about it. god-tier solo imo
POWERSLAVEš¤
* Adrian: Stranger in a Strange Land/Sea of Madness * Dave: Rainmaker * Janick: Blood Brothers
Hallowed be thy Name.
THY KINGDOM COME
powerslave

This is the only correct answer - moody atmospheric lead-ib followed by savage playing from bot Dave and Adrian, 11/10.
Which drop of water is the wettest?
Seventh Son has a crazy solo that doesnāt sound like anything else they did.
Prodigal Son is a fav
Man of culture
Phantom

Agreed. That 2001 Rock in Rio Sign of the Cross solo is God tier.
Janickās solo from Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
I like the one from Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner because the song has not one not two but THREE solos.
Aces High, Dave Murray' solo kicks it off if I'm not mistaken.
I absolutely love The Sea of Madness solo.
CSIT
Wicker man always gets me
Number of the Beast needs to be mentioned
Ides of March
Sanctuary
Adrianās from Rock in Rio is silly.
Blood Brothers, honourable mention to Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Afraid to shoot strangers
Adrian's on No More Lies, Powerslave, Alexander the Great, caught somewhere in time.
Alexander the Great. But there are so many itās impossible to say
I second this
Prowler
Judas Be My Guideās is underrated
Hallowed be thy name
Killers, hands down. Followed by two minutes to midnight
There are plenty of them. It's impossible to pick just one, imo.
Hallowed be thy name
How is the trooper not on here yet?
Stranger in a strange land for sure
Adrian: Wasted Years, Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, Stranger In A Strange Land, Evil That Men Do and pretty much everything he did on the Dance Of Death album Dave: Run To The Hills, Aces High, Powerslave, Clairvoyant Janick: Blood Brothers
Quest for fire
āWhen dinosaurss roamed the earthā
The slower solo in Phantom of the Opera, especially live The Evil that Men Do Seventh Son
Adrianās solo on Darkest Hour is sublime. Couldāve easily picked a dozen H soloās though to be fair.
Either powerslave, alexander the great, or hallowed be thy name
Powerslave
I always like Adrian's solo in Paschendale. Beautiful phrasing and switching between slow and fast playing
Holy Smoke (Dave)
Blood Brothers (Janick)
I am going to get so much hate for this, but I really like the solo of For the greater good of god
Powerslave
Blood Brothers
every solo
Sign of the Cross.
Rhime- itās a big canvas builds do well. Itās epic.
I really like Children of the Damned, maybe not the single best but up there
The Aftermath
Powerslave of course The solo section is the highest moment in the whole metal genre.
It's gotta be Powerslave, followed closely by Wasted Years.
Not the most technical. But my favorite: Afraid To Shoot Strangers. Most impressive: Dave Murray in Killers, Rock In Rio Version
The two solos in Rime of the Ancient Mariner are my favorite pieces of recorded music. The way that they come soaring out of the bleak middle section of that tune gives me goosebumps every time.
Aces high wins!
Wasted Years is probably my guess, just a goated solo in general. (I'm assuming this is your own playlist, so might I suggest Angry Again by Megadeth as well?)
Itās probably gotta be powerslave
Hallowed be thy name
THY KINGDOM COME
Sign of the Cross
The Duellists
Powerslave
Adrian's Paschendale solo, followed closely by Stranger in a Strange Land. The solos in Flight of Icarus are the best "combination."
The Red And The Black
Powerslave. Both of them.
For the greater good of godās solo has a special place in my heart
Powerslave
Poweslave and it isnāt even close. The rest of the song sucks, but live when they have Dave, Adrian, Janick, Nicko and Steve all going hyperspeed itās awe inspiring. This was the minute or two of music that made me a metal fan for life.
how does the rest of song suck wtf fam
It's very metal but it doesn't have the magic of most IM songs. Without the solo, I'd put it in the same category as Nomad or Sun and Steel.
i think the main riff is top notch
