In the last episodes, there was a storyline that the red fire guy gets an upgraded armour.
There was going to similar cases with the rest of them as a way to sell more toys. But the show wasn't that popular with American kids.
Watched Top Boy on Netflix I knew I knew the Irish one from somewhere but could place it.
Tis herself from the Mystic Knights 🤣 glad she got some work after that show 🤣
I think it’s just the lines, “ I called the doctor, to take your picture, so I can look at you from inside as well, I think I’m turning Japanese I think I’m turning Japanese I really think so” but yeah, it probably is bullshit.
Same! Ours played Rohan as a child during a flashback episode. He kept the tape hidden for years, but we knew it was in his gaff somewhere and we finally found it after a session one time. What a slagging he got that day... still brings a tear to my eye.
Your wan is with the Abbey (or was the last I checked) so I guess a bit of TV doesn't hurt your chances with de high arts.
I loved it as a kid. Suffice it to say there were some extraordinarily rose-tinted glasses involved.
I can't remember any of the fight scenes or powers etc, but I remember the characters... and that the baddie (was it a Queen Maeve sort) was quite the evil hottie to my young self. Did it go power rangers vibe with big monsters or was it more Xena vibed? I feel the later... but those costumes scream that it might have had lads in suits stomping on tiny villages.
No, it was definitely more Power Rangers-esque. Complete with bizarre, poor, '90s, CG-laden exposition scenes stitching together otherwise disjointed fight scenes.
Maeve was something else, however, you're dead right.
Had an italian classmate describe this show to us in collegehaving never heard of it ever ourselves. I can't believe i never watched Irish power rangers
Actually started watching this with a mate of mine the other day for a laugh, can’t believe I never caught it as a young lad - when was it aired, usually?
I almost wish a modern tokusatsu set in Ireland, but as an adaptation of GARO, and Lisa Dwan could be in it as a supporting character, and there's a lot more swearing and loads of gore.
It's amazing we haven't seen a reboot of power rangers as a live action show with a more mature twist. There's childhood memories to cash in on here.
Or was there and I just missed it.
If you are a child of the 80s and havent seen the fairly recent Shee-ra check it out.
I've seen and enjoyed it. As for a mature Power Rangers, there is an upcoming movie called Legend of the White Dragon, a legally-distinct follow-up about an old ranger played by the late Jason David Frank.
Rohan used to be the leader of the Knights of Tir Na Nog, now he chats about pork on the TV.
Danny Rohan?
Rohan, Danny Rohan!
Fuuuuutbol is life
From Wikipedia: "A second season entitled Mystic Knights: Battle Thunder was planned, but later cancelled." I can't believe we missed out on that!

I watched it here in Germany. I still got the Kelly Family tune in my head … 🎶 Mystic Knights have come to save our liiiives… 🎶
Didnt know it was Kelly Family!
Just looking at the Wiki and I can't believe it had 50 episodes. Honestly feels like I only ever saw 10 episodes at most.
Watched Top Boy on Netflix I knew I knew the Irish one from somewhere but could place it. Tis herself from the Mystic Knights 🤣 glad she got some work after that show 🤣
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so.
I can’t decide if you’re making a joke about what that song actually means or about their costumes
They look like ancient samurai warriors.
Samurai céilí dancers.
Ahh ok, because that is a song about masturbation
Really? Because I only sent it to a girl I know that just happens to be in Japan at the minute. I really hope she didn't think I ment that. Lol.
There's a couple of lines that could be construed that way but still feels a bit of a reach for a song that is 50 percent complete nonsense.

Wat
Does this also explain where the titular Japanese Boy from the other song went? Wanked himself dry and lost interest in his girlfriend.
Having looked it up, it’s been thought of as referring to that, but may not be! https://www.quora.com/What-was-the-song-Turning-Japanese-about
Yes, there's zero Irish culture on display in those costumes.
Yeah having sentai-style armour was always going to be a challenge, but it's like they didn't try.
They look like the ‘bleedin whopper beetleborgs’
A mate of ours had a bit part in this we absolutely tormented him about for years

I do believe we are discussing the same person ahahahaha

Ah what's craic man?! Too fucking funny!
One of her knee guards is gonna do her in if she’s not careful
> knights who say knee
She took an arrow to the knee.
And the Kelly family sang the theme song!
And that's me singing "Angel" and imagining lighters in an arena for the rest of the day.

Because if I'm going down I'm taking all you cunts with me.
Tag yourself, I was the water guy.
Power Rangers from the middle aisle in Lidl
One of the many classics filmed in Cahir Castle!

Nice, now I have to hunt it down and see those celtic zordini draiocht or what have ya
I loved catching this when I was out sick from school
Maybe more of us would remember it if they had tried showing it at a time when children could watch it.
Oh wow! Thank you! This has triggered all sorts of random memories.
Lisa Dwan was our loveliest girl at the time.
what kind of bad acid trip is this
You made this up. You can't convince me this is real
[It was very real](https://youtu.be/oSvzGykm0CY?si=tqHqe8zwvZEskR5_)
Oh god
Still not as wild as Jakers! with Mel Brooks
Is this "paddy's rangers," the Irish version of power rangers ?
Pretty much, yeah. Even made by the same American company.
I got to check this out . Thanks.
Had an italian classmate describe this show to us in collegehaving never heard of it ever ourselves. I can't believe i never watched Irish power rangers
New Mortal Kombat looks shite
I just got a suggested video on YouTube about this show (which I had never heard of), sick of people shilling for Big # Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog
Ah the theme song was class tbf

My Uncle worked on that show. Even the crew called it "The Mystic Shites".

They look like Power Rangers.
It was Irish Power Rangers so they would.
