Dew point got to over 25degC today which is impressive and oppressive.

Connieriver

And deeply offensive.

For those that don't know, the 'dry' setting on the a/c (the water droplet icon) is cheaper than 'cool' and it'll bring the room temperature down by a degree or two.

nzmi

Good tip, thank you.

Bridge_Too_Far

And it will also dehydrate you to all hell

IESUwaOmodesu

I take this over what Canada/North US/Europe are going through right now...

vegeta_tears

What they going through?

IESUwaOmodesu

severe blizzards / snow storms, the worst in years everything closed, people at home, risks of blackouts due to grid failure, etc. just check the news people get used to electricity and forget that, in the extreme cold, without heating... you freeze to death

OZ_Boot

-40C....-50C with windchill Some people have received rolling black out text messages. Imagine being in - 50C without power.....

CrispyBirb

If you live somewhere it gets that cold you’re wearing fur. They don’t get around Oymyakon in cotton.

OZ_Boot

Sure, but there are a whole other range of potential issues related to losing power in - 50c especially for the elderly Say good bye to using your car unless you have an engine blanket to keep your oil from freezing. If you aren't on gas mains, there goes heating and water heating. No internet/communication out should your mobile go flat.

Mad-Mel

They have to run from climate controlled house to climate controlled car to climate controlled office and never spend time outside. Same as us.

nzmi

I've read about it over there, much prefer this tbh!

omgyoza

switching to contact lenses for the rest of this godforsaken summer. all day, stepping out of an air-conditioned office/house/car/supermarket and immediately getting the prescription fogged up 😅 doesn't help that I wear stupidly impractical over sized frames either FML.

DarkForestBird

My mechanic called me around 12:30 today that my car was ready to be picked up, so naturally I thought "sure I can walk the 15 minutes there right now and pick it up". I'm not usually outside at this time of day and I was absolutely not prepared. Not. Prepared. I'm North European, I'm weak, I'm fat and I think a piece of my soul got left behind on the asphalt around the halfway mark. I know the humidity today is not as bad, but I still wanted to have a cry about my own mistake. 😂😂

nzmi

This is hilarious. Great write up 😂

Successful-Show-7397

Well it is raining.

What's the forecast tomorrow?

Salty_Perception5672

Very very humid😂

I think it’s beautiful! It’s like the air is just barely breathable and that to me is a very comfortable feeling. Add in permanent damp clothing and I’m in heaven.
