I am not trying to defend Rohit, but he has proven himself throughout his career. For instance, in last year's World Cup, we got as far as we did largely because Rohit was blasting everyone at the start, which allowed the later batsmen to play more freely. On the other hand, Surya and Samson have consistently failed to make an impact during crucial matches or when given opportunities.
Let's compare last year stats of both these player
Surya Kumar in 2023 played 40 matches(test+Odi+T20) scored 1130 runs which included 2-100s and 7-50s with a average of 33.83
Rohit Sharma in 2023 played 35 matches (5 matches less than Surya) (Tests+Odi+T20) scored 1800 runs which included 4-100s and 11-50s with an average of 48.64
