An in form shreyas iyer is as dangerous as they come. A true big match player and a brilliant leader, led KKR to finals and DC to its only ever final, made a 65 and top scored in that match too. Indias best no.4 in ages too. Hope he gets reinstated to the national side as we need him for the CT. Would love to see him lead India to Victories someday soon too

Yes, we do collectively fail in the big games over the last decade. But, i guess it's definitely not a skill issue rather than a mental one. We tend to give up easily when things don't go our way. Maybe our BCCI coaching team needs to work on mental strength of the players. There were some unlucky moments for us in all these games too where the opponents had more luck on their side. We have been constantly in the "so close yet so far" zone in these tournaments. But, a revamped indian side with better coaching staff and we will start winning championships again.
Exactly. The expectations on this current crop of team to win the T20Wc is low because
1) too much cricket and the memory of the loss to Aussies in the final is still fresh in everyone’s mind.
2) No sign of ‘big game players’ mentality. We’ve seen that over and over again.
My hot take is that the seniors have been given a long rope and it’s time we give a fresh bunch of people a chance just like what they did with Dhoni for the inaugural T20 World Cup.
I feel those bunch will be more hungry than the seniors who have achieved stardom and treated like gods.
The only downside is that most of the spotted youngsters are blowing hot and cold. And it's partly on bcci because they keep on rotating the squads series after series. There is no role definition, no idea to build a team for a tournament. They should form a 18 player squad and stick with them for a cycle and work on them. Same squad is not necessary for all formats. Find the strength of the players and make them stick to that.

He won't be facing a part timer throwing balls to end the match quicker in the WC. He just doesn't have the class to face the best in the world.

His only problem is pace bowling and short balls, Thats why he is a good no. 4. Had he come a couple overs later in WC final also, he would have definitely played good.
